No Money No Card
What do I eat? I settled for chicken rice @$5.50 :)
So..tonite, I will be driving around town without my ID and drivers' license. Thankfully I still have some spare cash in hsbc...saviour.
It's really pathetic..when you are hungry and out of cash. So...next time you see a poor hungry homeless person..spare the poor soul some food or cash ok...
Two days to 2009
The 'camp' for countdown is almost ready! I had an 'ah sei' to help me yesterday. 'Ah sei' is a term used by chinese to call the 'maid' :D . THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart..for ah sei's help..if not for her....I'd still have some more cleaning to do.
and..the work of AH Sei..sparkling clean!
Thanks to my big bro also for helping me to install the water taps and the door bell (..that is still not working yet :p)

Three days to 2009
Time Waits for No Man!
How True!
The last few days went by very quickly too. Christmas Dinner was at sis' place..here are some pics..
and..the after effect of a Cupcake
What else was I up to this yuletide season?
Boxing Day...watched Ip Man with my dad. Great show..(see previous entry).
Yesterday afternoon...I was cleaning the new house. It was pure hard labour ..10 times more hard work than working out at the gym! And..I only had the ground floor done..and I practically mean the FLOOR only. Grilles...windows..door...still very dusty! I started off with the room next the to the kitchen..then the kitchen..and the toilet...then moved on to the living room...which was the killer part. There was so much water..flooded- to be exact... half way through..I couldn't decide whether it's more efficient to push the water through the back door (via kitchen) or through the front door! Reminds me of my childhood days..when mom asked us to clean the little flat that we were staying in...and we will flood the living room and water ski on our knees! I was very tempted to that again yesterday :D
Anyways...I was dead tired by the time I was done with the Ground Floor.
...the staircase onwards is still covered with inches of dust.
..the glass panel...the door...the grilles will need some cleaning too...as I don't want my guests to end up with stains on the clothes / hands/ body
I should be back there today...but instead....I am blogging the from the office currently..had to come back to confirm a fax. Was a tad bit worried about over running schedules..but... ..hmmmph..really can't work lar. Will worry about work on Tuesday. Tomorrow is another public holiday for us (hee hee..) - Awal Muharram (the Islamic New Year). Will be working one day on Tuesday than Off for NY Eve and Day :)
Was tai-ci-ing and combating this morning. So ..I am very tired now. It's close to 3pm liao! Gosh..what was I doing! Doubt I will be able to clean much today :p May be I will go to the hypermart to shop for the NY Eve do...paper cups, plates...etc
Ip Man - Simply Awesome!
(P/S: My big bro thought it should be pronounced as I P Man ...as in Superman's -- MAN)
1. Donnie Yen is simply gorgeous..eventhough he is already in the 40s
2. Original martial arts choreography although..I was wondering abit that.... something is amiss..how come no .. gory bloody and flying scenes?
3. Oh..Donnie Yen..did I mention..how charming he is??
4. Donnie Yen
5. Donnie Yen..Donnie Yen..Donnie Yen..Donnie Yen..Donnie Yen..Donnie Yen

A Camera and A Three year old
BC 38 launch @ TF Hartamas
..Body Balance - a mixture of yoga, tai ci, etc...tried once long time ago...may go again..when I need a stretch or when I need a change to something slow and relaxing
..Body Jam - *ha* don't think I will ever try this as I am convinced that I am tone deaf . No sense of rhythm at all and definitely a Kayu.
..Body Pump - never tried. not attracted to it yet.
..RPM - tried once, nearly died but it may be a better alternative to rest the knees. will pick it up soon.
..Body Step - seems difficult for me..since I'd oso think I have terrible sense of co-ordination :D
..others are ..Body Vive, Body Attack - no interest yet.
This is the second launch experience for me ever since I discovered BC in July this year. I shall not comment on technics and skills or the track list like most fitness blog enthusiast do...I just wanna blog this down since I enjoyed it a whole lot even though I only had only about a 2x2 ft space execute the punches and kicks. Each time I turn back to the front after a back kick.. I see a someone's foot in MY Face o_o And then ...out of the blue...a shoe of the guy next to me went flying in the air *GASP* To prevent myself from bursting into laughter, I quickly switched my attention back to catching up with the energetic instructors on stage.
Overall..it was a great event. The launch team was energetic as always, well prepared technically and in special costumes (Back to School Theme...I wonder if other fitness centres does this (the costumes I mean). Well done TF team!
Ok ok..my two cents worth of thought about the new choreography and tracks...ermm..challenging to some extend..can be punishing to the knees at some point. Lotsa front kick back kick front kick back kick..esquiva is also back..combine with front kick pulak..by the end you don't know where your legs are oridi! Songs wise - don't have any particular favourites at the moment.
Lastly...all participants were given this 'certificate' upon exit. We were suppose to collect each from all the other programs launch to get a free goody bag ....I think. I am sure it will end up collecting dust and into the dustbin in a month time..so why not I put a digital copy Here :
Oh ya..HERE are some beautiful pictures and video - a blog of one of the intructors I stumbled upon when I was looking up about the sport quite sometime back.
P/S: As I am writing this...the gals and I decided to have a NY eve do at my empty abandoned new house :0 Was thinking about doing it this morning..just for fun and to add some spice to the ending 2008..although it may mean...everyone sitting on the floor...drunk on the floor...eating with fingers...and..some hard work for me ...in planning..something that I am never good at:
..who's coming
..what eating..
..chairs n tables..
..cups n saucers
..what drinking
..music..entertainment..
..clean the hosue pre and post..(the house is really EMPTY and UNUSED)
....thats about it? quite easy ma..

Mamma Mia-Seen it, Love it!
The opening was an eye opener for me as someone who knows nuts about musical (most of the songs are familiar tunes though). The powerful band, the cast and their strong vocals..simply world class.
The mid part after the intermission was a tad bit boring..(think I yawned twice).
The finale was simply spectacular.

Think I need not say much more. It's a #1 show in the universe. I am just so glad that I saw it. Worth every cent!
Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much Ive missed you
Yes, Ive been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we partedWhy, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know,
My my, I could never let you go.

Little Angel On the Way
Baby niece arrived on Dec 18th. And I am groggy now O_-
Am having double dosage coffee now. Briefing is at 11am...and I am barely ready. Just wanna blog this down quickly. The baby looks beautiful. Delivery went well I gathered. Admitted around midnite and delivered by 2am.
Danial woke up in the middle of the nite agitated cos he needed to pee but frustrated to find that he had drypantz on (he has been off diapers for a while, SIL put it on for him last nite so that its easier for me). So..I helped him to take out his 'xx' to pee...must be so 'kap' almost pee'd all over me.
Apart form that..he slept thru the night. In the early part of the morning, he was rolling about...and ended up sleeping next to me. That wasquite warm :)
POSTED @12.33AM Dec 18th
Bro and SIL jus left for the hospital..seems like the little angel decided to come to this world early to celebrate Christmas! So..I am here at their house baby sitting lil D who is fast asleep now. I hope he doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and freak to see me instead of his parents. He has not spend a night with anyone else apart from his parents. I know I know..should have prepared him...that, you have to tell my dear bro. I hope he will behave tmrw morning ...have to make sure he cleans himself and feed him before sending him to the kindy. If not for a project launch tomorrow I would have taken emergency leave. Will try to get some sleep now -_-

Is this for real?
Starbucks Limited Edition Tumbler
Instead...just a while ago I got THIS:

Since I decided to work thru lunch...I thought I'd give myself a treat of a good Starbucks coffee with Subway sandwich. While waiting for my short latte to-go...I was looking around for the 'so beautiful' diary that everyone is crazy about. I didn't see the diary on display although it was right in front of me..instead I only saw the little table top promo display. While reading it....something else caught my attention..."on 17th Dec only....purchase this limited edition tumbler at $10 with purchase of a Grande drink" Hmm..I thought that is very good value...and tumbler is nice..and definitely more practical than a diary. And ..it so happen..today is 17th! What a coincidence!
But then..I only ordered a Short Latte. I decided to enquire anyway..if I can upgrade to a Grande for the tumbler. The cashier referred to the supervisor and the supervisor nodded his head.
Guess what...he only asked me for additional $10 and presented me the tumbler and my short latte!
The tumbler is just meant for me isn't it? Talk about being at the right place at the right day!
Ha ha..i still don't know why I bought it...not that I don't already have one :p I do have one...and am using it regualrly to take away kopi from the chinese kopi shop every other morning. Well well..as Fafa said when we were at Puma (again) yesterday...things are soooo cheap...you just have to buy lor.
Bliss! I love Starbucks!
P/S: In the end, I spent $30 in less than 30 mins..way exceed my normal kopi shop lunch (inclusive of parking & petrol!)

Poor Old Faithful Kia (Car I mean)
I have not been nice to the car lately. This morning I dropped my sunglasses while entering the spiral car park, was using my right hand scrambling for it and my left hand steering the wheel...like I have such good co-ordination skills. You can guess what happened la...I hit the left rear wheel against the wall divider. Very loud sound! And...boy...the rim's so badly grazed..I am sure the alignment's out too. Will take a picture of it later..if I remember.
- ...even after an accident grazes are barely noticeable because there are grazes all over!
- ...I can rave around town in the crazy traffic full of crazy drivers (I am one of them) with little worries that the car will be damaged in accidents cos it's already battered!
- ...pot holes and uneven roads on the left, right, front , everywhere? no worries..the car is tahan lasak
- ..no need to worry about car theft..nobody wants it..can park anywhere I like
- ..by the look of my car..people will stay away from me..no need to be afraid of road bullies..they would think I am the road bully :D

Meanwhile..the above is a portion of the battered condition of my poor car. Advantages of driving an old car!
BUT...
What irks me...
- ...is when I have to open close the door at toll booths, parking booths, etc cos the @#$!& no longer works - but..I am getting to be very good at it
- ...is when there is addtional sense surround sound coming from almost every corner as you drive - so I jus blast the music LOUD!
- ...is when every other week/ month soemthing breaks down and you can't help but wonder what's next - if i can help it....I WON'T replace..use till death ..poor car..sorry ah.
- .....and the list goes on...
Feeling Old?
... when you meet fresh intern/graduates who are barely in their 20s
..when surrounded by energetic young trainers / members at the gym
...when your peers are all married and have their children calling you auntie
..when the kids who used to be kids are now teenagers
...and new generation of kids are being produced by day
....when you see your skin condition not as smooth and soft as before
..and the older generation getting even older and starts leaving us one by one
According to Webster's Dictionary, the word “old” is defined as “having been in use for a long time,” “worn, dilapidated, ancient, or decayed by time.”
Julie Isphording, former Olympian re-defined OLD as “courage, wisdom, athletic and perseverance.” after her experience as a volunteer at the 1995 St. Louis Senior Olympic games..read more from her Life Tales From a Former Olympian
She is probably right. I would think I waas 'older' about 12 months ago....
..I use to sleep late till late mornings on weekends....and still feel sleepy and tired
..I spend alot of hours in front of the idiot box
..Sometimes I opted to stay home instead of going out
..I had to drag myself to the gym
..when I first started joining BC classes..I had co-ordination problems :D...I couldn't do push ups even on the knees...but now..I can even manage a few on my toes!
And I used to think that..my fitness and strength is gone case ..gone with the damaged nerves..but hey..it's coming back! My original badminton strokes are back! I can smash hard now ..almost just like in school days!
Live Young! Feel Young!
P/S: My sis however thinks that living young means staying up late and going out late. She thinks I am crazy waking up so early on weekends to go to the gym and tai ci etc :D
Can't believe it's Christmas..
Back to my point..I can't believe it's year end again..Christmas is in 10 days time..and then CNY. I've already given lil Danial his pressie and told him to wait until Christmas to open. Taught him how to countdown to 25th using the calendar...he went...."why so long wan??"
A lot of ppl predicted that recession will hit after CNY. Prices will go down. So..I am putting off the renov to after CNY. Hopefully car loan interest rate will go down too :p
For me...work is always busy during year end. While alot of ppl like my sis will take Christmas onwards off till next year....I have reports due o_-
So..10 days to Christmas, 16 days to 2009...what's your feel? looking forward? looking backward?
As for me..nothing much to look backward to. Been a pretty dry year. Luckily I still find some joy body combating at the gym and of course not forgetting my ocassional foodie indulgence.
Here's to a better year ahead...
My aim?
....go for a holiday..macau may be (furthest I can afford :p)
...do something challenging...go up KK..(hiak!)
...and..some other personal stuff...
..and oh..move house..(i know..i know..said this many times liao)
...and ah...WSL XXXX

Post Transverse Myelitis (about 15 yrs later)
Hot
Was happily having BBQ stuff at Daorae, seated right in front of the pit....after about 30 mins....I suddenly 'felt' a funny feeling on the front part of my leg. Upon investigation..I realised that my leg was pressing against a hot surface of the pit. Luckily I was wearing jeans. Saw a small red patch when I took off the jeans at home :p Come to think of it..they shouldn't have any hot surface exposed to where customers are seated isn't it?
Bite
Felt something not right on my foot...but couldn't quite detect where it came from. 1-2 days later..found an ant bite!
Bruise
On and off I get bruises all over...but most times couldn't remember when, where or how I got them. Could be from the dogs...or I might have bumped myself and didn't realise the impact.
Pain
I actually can't tell pain. Instead, I recognise pain..based on a similar sensation that I feel. For instance, when the doc checks me for possible sprains on my ankle / knee...most of the time..I was guessing :D Sometimes..the pain may be quite bad..and I just don't feel it.
Since this morning..I've been getting ocassional tiny sharp pains (I think) on my right hip/ waist. No idea what kind of pain it is or how serious it is. But it is bearable. I really don't wanna keep running to the doc clueless.
And I don't know why I am writing this. Just wanna share I guess..in case someone in cyber space with similar experiences comes across this blog.
Anyway...anyhow..I am still very much grateful that I am up and about physically doing all the things I like to do.

Year end luck?
I came back to the office today to clear some back log....(so did my colleague)...and guess what..all of a sudden the magnetic door system stopped functioning. For a while, I thought I will be stay locked in the place for the night or will need the firemen to come rescue us. At circumstances like this, my mind works best and fastest and calmest.
The door should need electricity to work. Logically, if I shut down the power..we should be able to get out. But..which switch shall I shut off. Last resort is to shut down the entire power system..but I decided to call the supplier first.
Don't ask me what the other colleague was doing throughout the 'ordeal' -_-
My guess was right - the supplier said that there should be a switch in the electircal box to cut out the power to the door. Once it's shut off, we should be able to get out.
Well..the electrical box is like half a meter above my head...and there are like 2 dozens little switches in it! But..there is this other unique looking switch (looks like any other light switch box) located right on top of the box. Ya..even higher up. So...Miss MacGyver here had to climb up a step ladder to reach it.
With my eyes half close...I switch it off and...VOILA! The door is free!
ONCE AGAIN, don't ask me what the other colleague was doing throughout ...
Christmas Gift from Jojo
Quite some months back (couldn't trace back the entry) , I wrote about MK asking me to take over as Jojo's "kai ma" (god mother). MK was my classmate, we sat together in the science labs..so..in a way..our friendship went back quite some distance. Boy...been many many years back. MK has four kids and each one has a godma for reasons that are too lengthy to explain here. Jojo had been a little dejected cos her orginal godma have not been able to find time paying attention to her.
I was quite reluctant in the beginning cos I was worried that I won't be able to commit and end up letting poor jojo down again.. Secondly..I was worried that I will not be able to interact with her. After some thoughts, I agreed. MK said..I don't have to do much. Just remember her birthday (which she will remind me) and buy a little something for Christmas..and may be ocassional lunch / dinner otuing.
We were 'introduced officially' over a casual dinner. She "shyly" told her mom that she liked me. I met Jojo many times before that ..she is a sweet child, I know. Thats why I wanted to make sure that I don't dissappoint her. After that we met on a few occasions at kids party and gatherings. On all ocassions Jojo was quite pleased to meet me again while I kept forgetting to get a little something for her.
I had dinner with them again last Wednesday - a belated birthday dinner for Jojo. This time I was prepared - with a birthday gift & a Christmas gift!
Jojo was prepared too. The moment she saw me..she waved to me and came over to present me a sweet little blue box - my Christmas present. Her mom said..they were in the mall early to shop for presents. I was told that Jojo insisted that she has to find me something First!
Here's what she bought for me. Very sweet bracelet. Her mom said it's quite expensive too! I am not the type who is into bracelets (cos I find them too troublesome to put on and off) but...I really think this is nice! Check it out...nice taste from a 8 year old!

Phoebe back..but argh..the car :O
.. whom I may not even have met
..who found her all smelly and drenched
..and kept her for the day anyway
..and remembered that they have seen the dog in my house
..and came all the way to notify us.
Thank god! I am happy and grateful.
Ok..one problem solved.
I was at the workshop just now with the car owner of the the car that I langgar on Thursday. Heartache!!! The repair will cost about $600!!! Reason being ...my 'hit' was so skillful that it damaged 3 areas - the tail end of the rear door, the car body above the rer wheel and the side of the bumper. In addition, as the mechanic puts it..."who ask you to choose such a high end car to hit'. Arggh...! I am begging my mechanic to charge as low as he can manage.
The mechanic taught me some alternative 'ways' to cut down my compensation cost if I ever come across such unfortunate incident again (hope not). I shall not talk about it here...but I can share with you in private :)
Second heartache. The power window broke down AGAIN! I just replaced it in July! The part supplier refuse to bear responsibility ..to them 5 months has passsed warranty period. NM! The mechanic offered to bear half the cost if I wish to replace again but I've decided not to replace.

Down and then Up
What was it like without the internet?
Checking Emails - is the utmost important task that dictates my workload/flow (and mood) for the rest of the day. Without knowing what's in store in the mail box gives my a jittery feeling.
Secondly, after having an idea of what's the day will be like....I'd spend a 'lil bit' of time checking my leaisure space here and FB to catch up with my cyber contacts. Not being able to do so...can be quite torturous. By the way....received an invite from my retired uncle today..he is on FB! Way to go uncle!
And oh..how can I forget...how can I survive without MSN!
(arrgh...just spilt coffee onto keyboard. Luckily I'm not using a laptop. Hope the the keys won't go haywire after 'drinking coffee'. the last time i spilt coffee onto a laptop keyboard..I screwed the motherboard!)
Anyway..where was i?
Ahh..was going to conclude that...while it's $%#@ inconvenient being disconnected from cyber, it can be a good thing after all.. ..got my mind working hard thinking of alternative ways to work on things that doesn't require the net! Like making phone calls, planning datelines, working on real work ;p
Now that the net is UP...I am here ...see what I mean!
P/S:
I like this song - Hot n Cold by Katy Perry.
Kind of resemble my ownself :D
Chorus goes like this:
Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

Post Holiday Holiday
This Thursday is a public holiday in Selangor and I am entitled (ahh..post holiday holiday)...but guess what....I didn't know about it until SY told me on Sunday nite and I have agreed to a meeting at a client's place in KL @#$% Because of this meeting I had to forego the Manado trip :( Now..what shall I do after the meeting? Go shopping and make more contribution to the economy? Still have some outstanding Christmas presents to nail. And of course to satisfy my own desires. Everywhere is on Sale! Shop shop till you drop.

No Title - Jus random update for the day
The gym seems a bit deserted this morning. Everyone must have gone away for the long weekend. I think there were only less than 10 visitors. The changing room and shower place was practically empty. As I was getting dressed I thought I overheard someone asking for Toothpaste. I was like.."huh..toothpaste..why would someone want toothpaste in the gym..may be I heard wrongly" Some moments later..as I was packing up about to leave..true enough...this gal came by..holding a toothbrush..asking me if I have toothpaste :0
LOL! Luckly..it was bright day light...and she looked pretty much 'human' :D I would have freaked if it is late at night. Toothpaste?? In a gym??

This is baby leon's bday cake. I've seen these type of cakes at kids' party many times. Only this time I asked about the cost. I nearly choked on my food when told that each of these costs $300++ Crazyy ahh..only one year old....but has a $300++ bday cake. Lucky kids nowadays.
The 1/2 kg lemon cheese cake I bought for PPL and Iw was only $33 :p

Cholesterol, Liver....What the heck..

This is a caption of my latest medical report. How can this be?? My dad's cholesterol level and liver function is better than mind??? He is 76, Hep B carrier...I am only 35! My cholesterol level is much higher this time (last year was normal) although I've been taking oats diligently (and he doesn't!) and I've been working out more this year. Apa ini! I am convinced that the lab swapped our specimens *ha ha* Doc says it's just slightly off, no major worries but to be safe do another test in 6 months time.
What the heck...as usual...quick recap on foodie outing :)
Apologies again for pic quality..all bloggers didn't bring camera :D
Friday Nite - Daorae @ Desa Sri Hartamas
Verdict - very good food.
Service is excellent although kind of stressful when the staff were hovering all over us (me in particular) manning the meat grill.
Full Quorum (yeah!): 6 ladies
Contribution to economy :$219+
Thks to PPL for ordering such a good spread. Food started arriving ard 7.45pm..and we were done in less than an hour! Basically, we were kept very busy eating and trying all the different types of side dishes (typical korean spread), different types of grill meat, kim chi soup noodle, bulgogi, korean pan cake....
Quote PPL's comment on the grilled pork: mmm..the pork is very nice..becos it has pork fats

Korean pan cake and a small caption of our table that was practically FULL of food.

When I entered the restaurant, the pastry counter caught my attention. I ordered a milk egg tart, a HK polo char siew bun and a cocktail bun as starter. They were Delicious!
So delicious that ..everyting disappered before I can take any pictures:D

I've been hooked to these. When I don't drive out for lunch this is about the only thing I opt for these days. Found it abit costly initially and not filling enough but after several tries..I began to enjoy it more and more.
The fillings are superbly fresh.
The bread options are interesting.
The sauces are great.
I always opt for half loaf option (instead of the humongous foot-long!) which easily cost at least $9.90. Sometimes I take the wrap which also cost about the same. Yeah..sounds expensive..but if compared to McD or KFC....the cost is almost equal if you take their value meal.
And this is by far a healthier option!
oh..and they are super effcient and speak good English (relative to the McD and KFC)
Try one today!
