Little Things in Life

The other day I complained to dad that we have been eating roasted duck too frequently. Where got people eat duck twice in less than a week? He argued that he doesn't know what to cook..so he bought duck lo.

Well, its not that I don't like duck..but too much duck is 'duk' ma.

Anyway, I felt a little bit guilty about complaining. So, I suggested that we go out for dinner last night since it was a public holiday eve.

  • Dad: Eat what?
  • ME: Claypot chicken rice?
  • Dad: Yesterday ate chicken oridi, today you want chicken meh?

Hmm..no worries..I have contigency plan. See..no wonder why I am constantly in thinking mode. One simple dinner also need contigency plan.

We ended up in 全一面. A restaurant that sells lai mien. Its been around for some time..we just never thought of trying.

Verdict?

Well, it is something different. I can't even repeat the name of the noddle dish that we had. We enjoyed it alot during the process of eating. Price..abit on the high side. Unless you take the PLAIN noodle..most of the options are priced from $7 to $12 on average. After digestion,..now, I am not sure if i will go back again wor. It's like the enjoyment didn't last.

Anyway..that is not why I wrote this. After the meal..we de-toured to check out a hardware store for stuff. By 10ish..I felt a little bit hungry and felt like having something sweet or a pau. Was happy to see the Tong Kee shop (famous for egg tarts) is still open! We were the last customers. Browsed around salivating all over the pastries. Got shocked by the elevated prices of new year cookies - a bottle of dragon cookie is now $20!

We decided to buy 2 egg tarts and a kaya butter puff. I kept asking them if there are any discounts since they are closing - they keep smiling and shook their heads. While paying..I saw them clearing trays of pastries from the shelves. I asked again...if those are for free :p They said NO.

So..I asked ..what are they going to with them? Allare so fresh? Answer - either take home, or throw. What a waste!

Guess what...in the end, they gave us 4 pieces of cup cake.

It's not a lot...but it's the fun. Dad was also beaming away. Like small kids..we ate one in the car. He ate another 2 when he reached home.

This is an example of little things in life that will make our day.
