Nissan Latio Sport- 10,000km Service

RM377.25 - that's how much I paid for today's service. Bl**dy expensive.  Can't help but feel a bit ripped off?

RM103 Labour Service
  • Std lube service - RM40.00
  • Wheel alignment - RM28.00
  • Wheel balancing - RM35.00
RM269.10 Spare Parts:
  • Oil filter - RM30.50
  • Oil - RM56.10
  • Oil pan washer - RM2.50
  • Valclean-RM85.00
  • Octane booster - RM25.00
  • Hospower - RM50.00
  • Motor flush - RM20.00

Sigh.
Despite so, I have no regrets having the car.  Still loving it.  The drive is even more smoother by now.  Fuel Consumption is also improving.  Will do another post on FC another time.  Gan who was thinking about getting the same car asked me one interesting question (on top of many other questions)..."if I were to choose all over again, will I buy the same car?"

Answer ---Yes I will!

On a separate note, I had a good day today.  Chris came to pick me up for lunch at the service centre *grin* I suggested that we head to Petaling Street for lunch. I wanna eat the famous curry mee and Madras Lane. lol.  To my surprise..Chris agreed to go!  She came fro, Cheras you know?  Have I not mention that I have wonderful friends?

After lunch she drove me to Mid Valley..!  Just because I needed to redeem a D&G free gift expring this month only to find out that stock has ran out.  Bummer! We window shopped for a while..and guess what..we hopped over to Bangsar Village for something that I was craving for months - Theobroma's Princess of Iceland - it's the BEST~

Life's great ^.^
Took a break from gym today...very tired after 3 days of BC in a row.
Tomorrow?  Quite bz too..rpm (... if I can wake up), go over to the new house to measure a fixture, short meeting in the office, go to sunway pyramid Kian Classic and dinner with the gals in Puchong at night.

I'm tired already ..and the weekend has only just begun. Ha ha.

The M.A.D.E. Charity Book & CD Sale is finally happening

The charity book sale is finally happening. I've mentioned about it quite some time ago ..unfortunately it had to be postponed several times when we had difficulties securing a good location.

It's quite a task to organise such an event especially when everyone is busy with day jobs, family, etc etc. I'm guilty for not being able to attend any of the meetings so far *shame* The least I can do now is blog about it to help promote the event :-) Erm..actually collecting books and postings notes are about the only things I've done so far..lol. My salute to Elena and team!

So..please come support us at Centrepoint, Bandar Utama on the 21st of November ( I WILL REMIND YOU AGAIN) and if you have books or original CDs to give away..give me a buzz will ya!

More pics of some of the books in store HERE

Piggy's Gone

It's confirmed. My piggy's gone missing.  It's a gift from Susan many many years ago.  Had been with me in the car (windscreen toy) from the good old Kia to the current car.  Now it's gone.  Must have dropped out.  I'm sad :(

When it's nobody's fault..we just gotta accept it

I was deeply saddened when I learnt about the tragic death a friend's dog.  Sad that he has to go so tragically.  Sad that his owners had to deal with such sudden tragic loss. Sad that the other dog that attacked him had to be given away.

I can't bear to think how would I react if it's my dog who died.  Or what if it is my dog who killed?? My dogs are loggerheads with my neighbours chihuahua. omg.

It's just sad that these things had to happen.  Things that had to happen and we can't understand why they have to happen.  You know what I mean?  It's really nobody's fault here.  Not the owners.  Not the dogs.  Nobody.  Nothing.  It could have been more serious if the victim is a human being.

Well..it's Life isn't it?  Sometimes..things just happen.  Life has its ways.  We just gotta go through and learn along the way.  Sweet. Bitter. Sour.  We just have to walk the journey.

When will we see light ?  Ocassionally..we do ...yes.  God is fair :-)

I was tired & hungry, and then...

It was late, I was tired and hungry.  Been feeding on Nature Valley granola bar these days.  I particularly like the peanut butter and pecan crunch flavour.  I take them in the evenings before going to the gym.  I take them when I work late.  Getting quite sick of them actually.

Nutrient wise..I think they are alright.  So much better than going for roti canai, etc..don't you think so?

I was saying..I was tired and hungry...when I got off quite late just now.  Went all the way to MV to join GHY & MK  for dinner...as I was walking out of the carpark ....I felt as if I was going to faint....UNTIL...I saw all the shops.

Then I saw Esprit ;p ,  then I remembered..I needed a new handbag.  My GAP spoiled already and it's been irritating me all week.  Not too long ago..I saw some bags at Esprit that I liked.

IN I went into Esprit. Suddenly...no longer tired nor hungry :D

Called to ask them GHY and MK to come to Esprit right away..cos I WANT TO BUY BAG!

Got my bag within 30 mins!   It's on sale - RM229.90 selling at RM159.90 :-))))

I'M A HAPPY GAL...la la la la

Is Age really catching up?

Been so clumsy / headless / mindless lately.  I wonder if it is really an age factor. *shiver*  For three days in a row..I either clumsily walked to the wrong spot or went to the wrong floor to get my car.  What's worrying is sometimes I had to pause for at least 30 seconds to recollect where the heck I parked the damn car that particular day.

On one other day, in the elevator,  I pressed '7' (the parking lot) instead of '11' (the office) after buying lunch from the mall.  Some other days,  I'd need to pause for a while to decide whether it's 7, 8 or 11..(sometimes I park on the 8th floor)

Clumsy.  And forgetful too.  Things that happened not too long ago seems so far away.  Eg it seems like I jus had dinner with JH but it seems like so long ago..not?

wsl says:  hw come we met last wk ah? i didnt go gym meh?
JH says: last wk u went gym mah

JH says: v where got go out last wk
wsl says: we went to eat in maluri no ah? sudah tua

JH says: halo .. maluri long time ago lah
wsl says: wat long time??we ate the yue tao

JH says: few wks ago mah
wsl says:  ur head   no ah?

JH says: maybe 2 wks ago
wsl says: hai meh?  then wat did i do last wk??  oh,,i thk i went rpm

better get some sleep before my brain cells deteriotes more.

Shall I or shall not update tonite. Very sleepy.  But my hair is still wet so can't sleep yet.  Internet so slow tonite..WHY?  There is nothing to watch on TV.  Nothing to do on FB..think I'm having Farm Town withdrawal syndrome.  No need to plant no need to harvest..so what is left to do in FB?  Nothing to read in the papers.

Latest updates in the Online news are all about Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip's on Teoh Beng Hock's death -- that there was an 80 per cent probability that Teoh Beng Hock’s death was homicide and not suicide, and suggested that some of his injuries were sustained before his fatal fall. ...She said that Teoh’s injuries showed he could have been strangled and that he sustained anal penetration before he fell to his death on July 16...READ MORE

Loose Sand

YAT POON SAN SAH!

Haha.

The above is a Cantonese phrase, when literally translated it says A TRAY OF LOOSE SAND.

Hahaha.

The above describes us very well when our dear PPL (Daydreamer) is not around to 'serve' as our organiser cum event manager.  Oh we miss you so much PPL.  FYI, PPL is away for maternity leave after giving birth to her precious baby boy in September.  All these years..especially after most of us went separate ways, we rely on PPL so much on the littlest but important things...

..organising random get together lunch or dinner
..reminding & organising birthday dinners
..organising holiday trips
..buying gifts for special ocassions
..recommend great places to eat
..and MANY MORE

Me in particular..I miss travelling with her where she will take care of everything from booking tickets & accomodation to leading me to great places to visit and most importantly to EAT.  Wooot..simply blissful! I also miss having almost an ever ready and available kaki to call upon when ever I feel like going out of the way on eating spree ...e.g. having curry laksa for lunch in China Town to having clay pot loh see fun in Jln Sultan to having Bak Kut Teh in Klang ....and the list goes on.

We are literally YAT POON SAN SAH without you.  We have not gone out for dinner since you went on leave! We missed Connee's B'day dinner in September.  And Jane's B'day dinner in October.

Sigh..what do we do without PPL.

Miracle - does it exist?

Surprise? that this blog wasn't updated for more than 24 hours? haha..
Yea..I was bored. blocked. The net was also very slow last nite. Had problems when I was surfing for some information ..so I gave up.  Wasn't a very interesting topic anyway.

Yesterday..what was yesterday all about.  I deleted my Farm Town in FB!  Was getting abit sick and bored with planting and harvesting, planting and harvesting..and then..I accidentally deleted a barn I bought for 30K..!  Heck la..so I deleted the whole damn Farm.  No more games in FB for now...till I discover something more interesting :-)

Oh..RPM (again..what else is new -.-)  As with some Mondays..opted for rpm instead of boring tai chi. cos I needed the endorphin rush. Yesterday's class reminded me so much of the time I almost passed out quite some time back.  Same bike ( i think) ..same instructor..same day....only different is I did much better this time eventhough I was without a towel and the air conditioning was down.  Boy..was I wet!  Drenched.  The handle bar was all wet and slippery ...euw..so pai seh.   And..I concluded that sweat is indeed slightly salty...lol.  It's a miracle..that I lasted the whole 50 mins.

Miracle.  Was hoping for miracles to happen for quite sme time now..but nothing came :-D  Do Miracles exist?

According to Wikipedia:
In casual usage, "miracle" may also refer to any statistically unlikely but beneficial event, (such as the survival of a natural disaster) or even which regarded as "wonderful" regardless of its likelihood, such as birth. Other miracles might be: survival of a terminal illness, escaping a life threatening situation or 'beating the odds.' .....

Littlewood's law states that individuals can expect miracles to happen to them, at the rate of about one per month. By its definition, seemingly miraculous events are actually commonplace. In other words, miracles do not exist, but are rather examples of low probability events that are bound to happen by chance from time to time...READ MORE

So..do you believe in Miracles?

I guess it depends on how we define Miracles individually.  I'm determined to title this post related to Miracle..even when I don't know what exactly is a Miracle.  And I don't think I've ever experienced a Miracle before..have you?

..the birth if a child is definitely a miracle
..the existence of earth and mankind is a miracle
..the progress that earth and mankind had made since creation is a miracle
..it will be a miracle if all mankind can work together to help Mother Earth fight current global warming problems

Just rambling : )

Nothing is Greater Than Life

Just found out that an ex school mate had passed away on Thursday after battling cancer for many years.  Was told she has a little girl.  Poor gal to lose a mom at such a young age.  Poor mom..who must be so reluctant to leave behind her little one.  I didn't get a chance to meet her though I did state that I wanted to visit her.  I just didn't make an effort to follow up when's the next visit.  May you rest in peace my friend.  Sorry I didn't make an effort to come and see you earlier.  I can still remember what you looked like in school :) You were very tall. You always had your hair plaited on both sides.  You were nice to me.

...must be so heavy for her to leave.  But then..she must be so tired after fighting so much pain for so long.  She fought a great fight I'm sure.  She didn't give up easily. She's free from pain now.  I'm sure she will be rewarded for not giving up.

We've been told many times..Nothing is Greater than Life.  Without Life..there's really no meaning to cash, beautiful cars, big houses, good food isn't it?  Someone made a very meaningful statement in FB recently.."whatever that doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"  How true.  No mattter how tough things are today or yesterday....as long as we are still capable of breathing..we have tomorrow, day after tomorrow and after and after..that itself is a Gift we should be grateful of.

Brand new week ahead..live on my friends :-)

A wonderful day

Hi. I'm back.  How was your day?  Mine was wonderful! Wish there will be more days like this...a day full of fun and laughter with old friends ..so nice to have this bunch back..just like old days.  I'm talking about my old school mates.  We met up at a Diwali open house.  Too bad I'm not putting up the group pic here. It's an awesome pic!  Sorry ...only available in Facebook.

It was a record turn up by the way.  Not too bad at all.  Especially...when the host ...ahem...is well known for not remembering ANYONE.  Thanks to Facebook for reconnecting us again.  No doubt we aren't and weren't best of friends now nor then.  In fact..to be honest..amongst all who turned up....we were not really 'same gang' during school days.  But heck...we are all grown up now...just enjoy the fun la.  How often do you get to have all different races ...same age....together with husbands, parents and kids..all under one roof!  You don't even see this kind of harmony in a Barisan Nasional gathering. Pardon me.

Too bad...most had to leave after about two hours.  And there were so many people, kids..didn't really get to talk much.  But it was really a great gathering.  Looking forward to the next one.  Christmas..hopefully.

After the gathering..I went over to sis' place ..donno what I did there..then we went over to bro's place to play with the kids.  Chill and chill.  Then  all of us..kids and adults went out for tea at Old Town.  Chill again.  Took some nice pics with Danial and Angie with sis' Iphone.  Still waiting for her to post in Facebook.

Guess what's missing from my day today? He he...no gym!

Basically..it feels good to be doing something different.  Nothing super exciting ..just different from A Typical Saturday e.g. gym, brunch, bla bla bla.

By the way..I couldn't wake up for early breakie with Dad.  Only got up around nine :-p  Sis took him for a nice lunch after I left for the open house.  Had a light porridge dinner with him just now.  and..erm..we dropped by the night market after that..and erm..we bought char kuey teow.  Now..damn full and bloated!

BACK TO THE GYM TOMORROW!

Deepavali Rambles

Happy Deepavali.

How fast time flies.  Seems like just not too long ago we wished our friends.  It's been a year.  So fast.  I'm not particularly happy that time passes so quickly nowadays.  Technically, the earth shouldn't be spinning faster.  So ..why is it that time passes so quickly now..say compared to five years ago?

Really..it's mid October!  What have I done in the last ten months apart from going to work, going to gym, eat, sleep. duhh...  Soon I will be 50 years old..and I will stil be asking the same question.  Darn.

Years ago, when I bought a rather pricey branded watch...a friend asked "why I have the heart to wear it daily...I will wear it out..it will become old" she said.  My reaction was..."if I don't wear..what do I do with it..keep ? and wear only on special ocassion? like when? how often? once a year?"  Kind of a waste right?  If I leave it at home..I risk losing it to burglars..if my house is broken into.  If I wear it everyday..I risk wearing it old..or I risk losing it to robbers?

So how?  No fret.  Life is short.  Time flies.  Enjoy this moment.  Enjoy each day.  It's a mystery what tomorrow will be like.

I would like you to meet Kipling Ape.

I got it long time ago attached together with a Kipling pouch but I was worried that I may drop it or spoil it if I let it hang around with the pouch.  So..I took it out and kept it 'safely' in a drawer.  I was wrong.  If you look carefully..the right ear has fallen off.  The ring attached to it came off.  The soft plastic or whatever material became too moist..the poor ape is slowly wasting away.  So sad.

So..my dear readers..you know what I'm trying to get at?  Don't fret or think too much.  Enjoy each day to the fullest.  Nothing is greater than Life.

Hmm....easier said than done huh..

I know I'm rambling.  Bear with me I'm moody.

Ok..past midnite.  Brand new day ahead.  My aim for tomorrow  today....wake up early to have breakie with dad since he is off work too. Then off to Minx open house..many school friends will be there.  It will be fun.  That's all I have in the pipeline :)

Sunday..what's that? When's that?

I was at RPM Challenge !

Ai ya..wanted to do a quick entry about my first attempt in a RPM Challenge Class..ended up hooked on to a blog I stumbled upon when I did a quick google search about RPM Challenge. It's late now. And I kind of lost momentum on what I wanna write already. Will try anyway..

Thursday evenings...normally I'd catch an early BC lass (if I can get off early) then to tai chi class (if I'm not too lazy). Today, I decided that I needed RPM more then BC. I think RPM releases more endorphins and I needed that today..quite badly but all RPM classes today are Challenge classes..whatever that is...it sounds scary. I'd normally be half dead after a normal class..I wasn't sure if I can endure a Challenge class.

It has additional 2 working tracks on top of the normal 7..so I found out after checking with an intructor that I'm connected to in FB. See..I told you FB is useful..hehe.

Additional 2 working tracks...I will probably die! Moreover..I wasn't prepared for a long workout today. I didn't have any energy bar nor drink for pre-work out snack. And lunch was sandwich only. When I told Jenny that there will be additional 2 working tracks...she said "please go buy your energy bar" :-D

Long story cut short...I went for it la. It's all in the mind actually. My mind was full of apprehension..all because I know it's gonna be a longer than usual class...I was so tired and out of breath by Track 3 (song :right by your side) ...lol. Barely recovered during the slower pace track 4..and was in a total daze during track 5 (the round and around song).  Thank goodness I managed to recover in Track 6...and was back energised for Track 7..if only this was a normal class.Track 7 will be a finale mountain track...that I normally enjoy alot. Not. For this class..Track 7 is a repeat of Track 3 format..uhuh...I can declare now that I dislike Track 3!

I can't remember how I went through the remaining 3 working tracks. I also can't remember the songs played.

Most importantly..I did it wor! I lasted the whole hour wor! Miraculously..I didnt' feel as bad as I anticipated it to be upon completion.

*pat on the shoulder*
P/S: Craving for a wan tan mee now .

Life is Such ..

Life is such that things don't always turn out the way you planned...
At times...one ended up doing things that are not meant to be...naturally one will jump into the frustration mode.

Try taking little pauses. Breath.  Look around...appreciate life from other perspective.

Life's good

I feel good..today (altho the little problem is still in existence..and will be there until I get it out of the way..soon -.-).  Funny how my mood fluctutates.  May be becos today is my favourite work out day..a day where i can do both of my fav work out programmes.  or ..may be it's PMS.  that time of the month.  been having dull cramps on the left recently.  Oh oh..I hope it's not a relapse of endometriosis..again.

Really..life's good la.  Don't you think so?

..we live in peace
..we live in harmony
..the weather has been great..ya..hot today but it rained last night...and we were safe and sound in bed..how nice..

and the list goes on...Life's great actually..we are damn lucky!  Compared to typhoon & Quake victimes  in Philipines & Indon for example.  It's very easy to ignore and not look at those pictures in the newspapers..at the very least...the LEAST we can do is...complain less and appreciate what we have. k?

Tai Chi-ed

Finally.  I went back to tai chi.  For one class at least.  Well ..it's good start :p  I feel great now.  Tai chi really helps to relax and de-stress very effectively.  I was in such a bad mood today that the littlest thing irritates me.  well..this little darling also cheered me up a little.

Back to tai chi.  Ya..it was a good one.  Surprisingly, I could still remember most of the moves.  Ehh...actually I did forget some parts...as early as during the warm up session :p  Guess what..at one point I even got mixed up with body combat moves ..hahahha.  But overall..it wasn't that bad.  Feels good to be back.  Hope I won't slack again,.

Oh ya..I also forgot how much is the monthly fee.

Sang Cheong

Have you eaten "sang cheong" before?
All these while I always thought 'sang cheong' means pig's intestines although pig's intestines are normally called 'zhu cheong' or 'fan cheong'...I'd always asssumed that 'sang cheong' just another dish name for pigs intestine cooked differently.

I ate 'sang cheong' for the first time just now at dinner.

PICTURE TAKEN FROM : http://shiokhochiak.blogspot.com/

After happily chewing and enjoying the crunchy texture of the 'sang cheong'....and agreeing that it tasted better then normal intestine dishes..I got curious.  How come the texture is so different then intestines? And...it does look very different...which part of the intestine is this??

CAUTION :
THE FOLLOWING CONTENT MAY CAUSE DISCOMFORT.
READ ON AT YOUR OWN RISK

...I found out that 'sang cheong' is actually...the Fallopian Tube!

PICTURE & INFO. TAKEN FROM : http://www.hillstrath.on.ca/

This close up view shows the primary reproductive organs of the female.
The ovaries (1) are small kidney-shaped organs. They usually cover the fallopian tubes (2) which just show below the right ovary (left side!) in this view

The fallopian tubes bring ova to the uterine horns (3) which join in hte midline to form the uterine body (4). The uterus is thus "Y-shaped". This allows for the attachment of placentas for a whole litter of young pigs along the uterine horns. The ovary and uterus are held in place by the broad ligament (5), which later in life will have to bear most of the weight during pregnancy

The uterine body passes through the pelvic opening between the urethra (5), which drains the bladder (6), and the rectum (7).

I am still wondering..how on earth??   As far as I 'm concerned..my limited biology knowledge tells me that the fallopian tube is rather short and it's function is ..as mentioned above..only for the 'eggs' to travel to to the uterus.  So..how many pigs' fallopian tubes are there in one dish?

We ended up arguing in the car..about the matter :D  MY BIL says that pig's fallopian tube are much longer since pigs are capable of having 24 piglets at one time.

True?

..can't be..cos the piglets are not stored in fallopian tubes...yes? no?

PICTURE TAKEN FROM :http://faculty.ucc.edu

The above probably proves me right.  Yes?
So..if it is true that pigs' fallopian tube are even shorter then human's...back to my question...how many pig's fallopian tube are there in a dish??

Customer Service @ Giant

Whatever happened to the Service with a Smile practice??
It's even more disappointing when one is greeted by a look equivalent with the image below at the Customer Service Counter.

I must say it was the most unpleasant experience I ever had as a customer.  And it wasn't even any fault of mine.

The promotional price for the sanitary products that I bought was displayed with one of those huge yellow price tag image that says $9.99 but the price sensor at the cashier charged $12.49 instead. That is a very big difference moreover I bought two!

As usual...with such cases..we Customers will normally have to Work Hard ...ourselves to get things Right.  Unfortunately,..this is so true in many in fact most organisations in Malaysia.  They just don't care...! Or rather..the employees were never trained to care.

And so..I made my way to the so called Customer Service Counter and was greeted ny a representative who looked like the angry cat above.  I'm darn serious. She didn't have any smile nor any sort of pleasant outlook.  I wonder why she's with Custoemr Service.  Anyway..after spending a few minutes explaining to her my problem...she still had that irritating look on and didn't show any sign of aknowledgement whatsoever..  She mumbled something to her colleague and came out from the counter (still no aknowledgement)...walked a few steps towards the hypermarket area ..leaving me behind obviously.  Upon realising that I wasn't behind her..she turned to me and said "Follow me" ...still with that irritating look.

 I don't normally curse out loud but.....WTF!

The more I think about it..the more angry I am.

And so..I FOLLOWED HER to the aisle.  Upon reaching...with the receipt in her hand...she stared at the aisle for a very short while...barely attempted to identify the SKU from the receipt..then turned to me and nodded her head ..(without even saying a word)...to ask me which and where is the product that I bought.

WTF!

Damn it.  Such a lousy and irritating and snobbish xxx.

I should cut the story short before I contaminate this wonderful blog with foul lingo.   In the end,,she took the huge Yellow price tag ...and the original 12.49 price tag which was underneath back to the service counter...sour face STILL....informed another person who seemed to be more senior and left to attend to other matters.

Her Senior took over my case.  No IMPROVEMENT!  Sour face too!  Too out some form ..and bluntly told me to fill in my details.  For a while...I almost thought I'm theone at fault instead.  After filling up the details..she 'calculated' how much they need to return to me based on the price difference... $5.00.

Guess ..how long I waited for the miserable five bucks!  It must have been at least 10 mins!  As usual...it was mind boggling how they take things so easily..with no sense of urgency..making the customer feel as if we are here begging for money.

I was fuming.

In the end..she managed a soft 'sorry ah' when she finally came out with my five bucks.  bahhhhh....I'm not sure now if I ever wanna go back to Giant.

It can be a good thing that I am without a camera : p  Do you realise that I'm back to rambling nowadays?  Jenny just gave me my goodies bag from the Walk for the World of Pink (the one that I had to skip because of the badminton match).  f I had the camera I would have snap pictures and posted as an entry ...instead of rambling away here.

It's so hot tonite..don't think I can stay for too long.

I'm better..hooray. Had fun at the gym.  Class was good.  Much much better than Tuesday.  Felt so good in the end.  Went to have dinner with Jenny after class.  That means..I skipped tai chi AGAIN.  Sigh..I am losing confidence that I will continue with tai chi.  sigh. sigh.  Let's see.

Actually...it just struck me.  Do I feel better because of the work out or something else?  Few days ago...I made a very small donation via Unc Ray to help out Typhoon victims in the region.  Today I received a sweet message on Facebook direct from the recipients thanking me for the contribution.  It's just a very small amount... I really didnt expect anything in return. But it's a sweet message. Made me smile.  I think my heart jumped gleefully knowing that it's owner had done a small little good thing to make the world a better place.
Wished I gave more..and spend less.

Anyway.,.anyhow..I feel much better now. but..i still need rest & sleep.

Good Nite!

Too much sleep makes a person dull I guess. The cold is not serious..very mild I would say but donno why the body is so achy and tired.  Will give gym another go today..may be some sweating will do some good.

Irritating Ad on StarOnline

I have not been able to access the StarOnline since afternoon because of this stupid ad.  It just refused to go away no matter what I clicked.

Seriously..what were these people thinking??

P/S: I figured out why I couldn't close the ad page. It's becos my browser is pre-set to reject the cookies. So?  Still? It's my right to have such settings.

Long Beach @ Pulau Redang

Just had my longest night at the gym. several times i thought I was gonna faint.  combination of factors i guess..muscles still recovering from the tiring weekend, some 'cold bug' still lingering around,  had a relatively long day at work, snacked too late before working out.

Anyway..here are some pics I took using Chris' camera while we were at Long Beach, Redang.  It's such a beautiful beach!   Those who are connected to me on Facebook would have seen this already.

Thought I load some here too for other random visitors of this blog.  Doing my part fro Tourism Malaysia :-)

Enjoy....

This one was taken at night at Berjaya Resort's beach (not from long beach).  Spooky or not?? May be if we stare at it long enough..we may see 'something' else approaching from the sea
yieeeeee...................

Gaya or Practical?

Didn't intend to stay up too late..but see..I'm still up at this hour.  There's durian in the fridge but I dare not eat cos still feeling a bit unwell :(  Nothing much to talk about today.  Was home quite early today...had dinner.  Watched TV..some final episode of a TVB drama on WLT.  Skipped tai chi..really tired and I wanna watch that final episode ma.

Anyway..enough crap talk.  Really need to rest early.  Hope the cold & the body aches will go away by tomorrow.  I wanna start gym-ing again.

Guess what = I've started looking around for a camera :-)   Dropped by MV to peep into the Panasonic's exhibition to check out the Lumix range.  Also visited a few stores to get some prelim recommendation.

So far...I have these in mind.  Still very initial.  Still gotta read up and learn a lot about the specifications and features.  Now..just based on looks...ta daa..

PowerShot SX20 - Canon
(Not my top pick in terms of looks,..but JH's friend who is a prof. recommends Canon wor)

PowerSHot G10 - Canon
(JH's using this..her pics looks perfect.  Highly recommended by her friend.  But..I don't quite like the look wor )

Lumix LX3 - Panasonic
(Nice hor?  Compact too..and function wise almost equal to the few shortlisted here...pnly short fall is the optical zoom is very much less @ 2.5 only)

Lumix FZ35 - Panasonic
(my favourite so far ;p)

BASICALLY.....I am more for Lumix cos they look prettier ...lol.  But..people are recommending Canon more.  My other probkem is..I can't decide if I want a smaller compact camera which is convenient to carry about OR a bigger one which is more GAYA (stylish).

so so..how how? gaya or practical?
Price range..all the above...are between RM1,500 to RM2,000 roughly.

Note : All images taken from Canon & Panasonic official websites.

My first competitive Mixed Doubles Experience

I figured out why my butt hurts so much eventhough mixed doubles play doesn't require the female partner to exert much.  It is because the female partner is always in a half squat position (or is it just me??).  Seriously..most of the time..my job was just to make sure I duck 'efficiently' so that my partner can retrieve the shots efficiently ..lol.  It's not an easy job ok...one gotta be agile enough to bounce up or forward quickly enough to retrieve net shots 'skillfully' as and when necessary.

My butt hurts.  My thigh hurts.  Basically every single muscle in the butt/thigh area hurts.  I could barely go up a short flight of staircase after the last match just now.  Oh ..we lost narrowly..so we only got the 4th place.  No cash. Just souvenier..T-shirt an towel I think.  Have not got them yet as I didn't stay for the prize giving session.

Playing mixed doubles is so different.  Think I'm beginning to get the hang of it though.  In fact I enjoyed myself in the last match.  First two matches were disasters for me..luckily my partner covered well..if not we wouldn't have gone this far.  Got a few compliments too ;-p  One guy said that my gaya (i.e. style) on guard look like a pro today...hahaha...gaya only.

In the midst of one of the games..my partner got many points in a row with his excellent tricky serves.  He said that 'stealing points from his serves is one of his main task'.  As I passed him the shuttlecock, I replied 'picking up the shuttle cock for you to serve is my main task' :-D

Most of our opponents are seasoned mixed doubles players who play quite regularly in club tournaments...so we did quite well indeed for a scratch pair.  We could have gone further if I'd played better.  My partner was also relatively more tired today cos he also played in men's doubles...meaning he played a total of 8 games in two days!

Thank God it's over!  So stressful...though I managed to relax & enjoyed alot more in the last game.  Guess what I did..after the last match I zoomed to the gym to catch a BC class.  Needed that to help release all the tension from the last two days!  WK was asking me..why do I still need to go to the gy, when I know there is a badminton game pn the same day.  Body combat is my drug.  It helps me to de-stress.  It helps me to re-charge.  It rejuvenates me :-)  Crazy ah?  But it works for me lor.

Ok ... think I will hit the sack early today.  I foresee a long week ahead.  It's funny how...symptoms of a cold / flu re-appear when all my activities are over.  Runny nose and been sneezing away.

Nitez.

Very tired..

I'm so so tired.  Donno how I'm gonna play later on.  Btw..we won both games yesterday ;-p ..I only updated in twitter & fb..was too tired to write a post here.  I played terribly as expected, I've not played in a proper mixed doubles format before this..really need to get use it.  I'm getting there..hope today will be better as today's opponents are really really good.  Anyhow..as my partner says,..let's just try our best to enjoy the games.  He is superb by the way :D  May be I will write more about the games tonite..depends on the results of today's games.  If we win this morning's game..we wil be in the Finals! lol.  If we lose..will still have to play in the afternoon for 3rd-4th placing.  In other words..we are already in the semis..haha.

I'm so stiff and tired right now.  I don understand why.  I actually didnt exert much during the games..cos my partner did most (99%)of the work!  May be it's the 'mental stress'.  Not easy to play competitively after all...so..gotta have more respect to all our national athletes out there.  Really...I don't even feel this tired after back to back classes at the gym -.-

ok..i gotta go do some stretching..then breakie and a quick shower before heading to the hall.  Slightly unwell too..sore throat & blocked nose.  yerr....actually..I so wish I can join the rest at PPL's baby full moon lunch :(

Busy Weekend Ahead

Am waiting to go out for site visit..should be leaving in the next 10 mins or so.  No point doing anything else rite?  Next few weeks will be relatively busy days ahead for me.  So..I'd better relax now :p   It's Flyday!

I'm tired already just thinking about the coming weekend.  Why oh why everything gotta happen together?? I will be such a nervous wreck tomorrow...I'm competing in a mixed doubles (with someone I barely know) badminton tournament!  Don't know why I agreed to play!  Let me see..the last time I played competitvely was ..... ....... ..... EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO!  Omigosh.

I'm also suppose to go for the Walk for World Pink in the evening ..but don't think I will be able to make it (*sad*) as the tournament is round robin format..i.e. I gotta play two games tomorrow from 3pm onwards.  There will be another game on Sunday AM.  If we make it to the semis...I will have to skip PPL's baby full moon luch as well (*sad sad*)

Not sure how far we will go in the tournament.  My partner who is very good & familiar with the participants standards predicts that we will at least reach the 3rd-4th placing match.  One of the gals was a state player (!!) while I was only a school player...so don't think we will be the champs ..lol.

Like that lo..so most likely the weekend will be at the badminton hall only...IF we don't get thrash in the initial games. hehe.

Happy weekend !

I did not do it on purpose, it's Law of Attraction !

As I have announced..I lost my camera recently. The irony is..I've been talking and thinking about ditching the camera for months. It's not surprising that most of you immediately thought that I did it on purpose ..hehe.

MSN conv with Kelly went:

Kelly : u loose ur camera on purpose 1 izzit? Dun sound sad...in fact like damn happy
wsl says: law of attraction
Kelly says: apa law of attraction
wsl says: always tok abt buying new camera, atrracted the thief
Kelly says: But ur camera was not stolen,u left it on the table
wsl says: it was stolen
Kelly says: TO B STOLEN
wsl says: lol~
Kelly says: Is not like is in ur bag..and some1 pick pocket u,u purposely leave it in the open
