Good to be home

Its sure Good to be home.

Enough of walking and trains trains and trains. Cant wait to get into my white knight and go cruising around town again. I really miss the peace of being with me, the music and no one else.

No one yakking loudly on the phone. No more sharing tiny mtr, bus, tram, ferry, airplane spaces with strangers. No more being stressed by hundreds other pairs of feet scurrying behind, next or in front of me. Its just gonna be me me me and me again!

I mus be either claustrophobic or a loner eh?

Bus, train, train, walk, food, walk, walk, train, food, train, ferry, walk, walk, food, train, train, bus, walk, walk, food, bus, walk, walk, ferry, walk, walk, food, walk, walk, ferry, train, food....

Yep. That sums up the trip : D

solo in HK

First visit here was about 10 yrs ago for a training. Was alone too. Enjoyed being kiasu covering every bit of the bustling city, trying out all the street food etc. Most recent visit was few yrs back for leisure when i just sat back and let PL plan and take me to all the good places and food. We had loads of fun. Having someone who can read the menu makes whole lot of diff.

It's close to 1pm on my second day here. God knows why I'm sitting here in a cafe near my hotel at the less busy Northpoint.

The hustle n bustle are a few stations away but I'm quite reluctant to head that way. Stress~

SH is arrvg this evening, thank goodness. we'll be heading to Lantau n Macau in the next two days.

Getting cold in here, I better hit the streets !

I Exist vs. I Live

This was triggered by an FB friend who posted : Stop Existing, Start Living

Got me thinking..aren't we all living?  We breath.  We work.  We eat.  We try to have fun..

What's the diff then with merely existing?

Some interesting  points from an article I found while Googling :

The sad truth about society is that most folks simply exist. Work, go home and on
occasion go out.....

Living is the experience.
Not an artificial experience derived from shopping or the like.
Living is experiencing the beauty of your surroundings. Being in touch with yourself, and
being ok with just you.
You don’t require artificial stimulation to live, you can take a walk in the park for example....

Allowing problems in your life to consume your life only leads to existing.
Living requires imagination. Money does not buy you happiness.
Happiness is what living truly is..(READ THE FULL ARTICLE)

Beauty in the World

This song brings a smile when we are down or when we become a little lost in life.

Pay attention to the lyrics..

When I look around, I see blue skies, I see butterflies for us...

There is beauty in the world..

So much beauty in the world

Always beauty in the world

Stop and smell the flowers

And lose it the sweet music and dance with me

There is beauty in the world, So much beauty in the world, Always beauty in the world

Second Chances.. What if there aren't any?

A 9 year old boy was one of the lucky survivors from a landslide that took 16 lives, mostly children of an orphanage.  From what I understood, he was placed at the orphanage when his parents decided to separate from each other.  His other brother brother was placed in a separate home.

No one can ever imagine how relieved and thankful the parents were when they were found out that their beloved son actually survived the tragedy.

With this, the parents had decided to put aside their differences and promised the sons and everyone that they will reconcile and make sure that the family will be together again.

So...it takes a tragedy of this scale for some of us to realise that there may not be second chances and that  living harmoniously with the family and people we love are truly the most important and yet most neglected entity in life. Often, we've been too busy or getting lost chasing our own luxuries, dreams, enjoyment of different sorts.

This family is truly blessed to get a second chance.  Let's hope they make the best out of it.

As for the rest of us, second chances do not come by often, in fact, almost never.  So..what are you planning to do differently?

Trail to the World's End via Horton Plains, Sri Lanka

What are Plains?
An extensive, relatively level area of land. Plains are present on all continents except Antarctica and are most often located in the interior regions. Because they can occur at almost any altitude or latitude, plains can be humid and forested, semiarid and grass-covered, or arid - http://dictionary.reference.com

Horton Plains was originally known as ‘Maha Eliya’. Eliya means Plains and Maha means Big.

Why Horton ?
It named after Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton, the British governor of Ceylon from 1831 to 1837, who travelled to the area to meet the Ratemahatmaya of Sabaragamuwa in 1836.  Read more about the history -  HERE

We were lucky to come upclose with a Sambar Deer when we were on our way into the park.

It is important to respect the nature.

At 2,300m above sea level, weather was cold and chilly in the morning.  A light wind breaker will come to good use in the beginning of the journey.

We trekked the recommended 10km loop that leads us to the famous cliff - The World's End.

It was a walk of a lifetime..

Awesome scenery..

I shall let the pictures do the talking..

I don't think I've ever been this close to such serene nature...

Do hire a guide, their guidance makes the journey more meaningful and fun.

Chameleon

Pepper

We arrived at The World's End after about 2 hours trek.

Breathtaking?

The magnificent trail continues...

Fashion Police Dog @ Work

He's at it again.
Nibbled on my favourite boots.

Well, they are very very old boots.  Bought them in BJ about 4 years ago.  Quite worn out but I refused to part with them cos they are so comfortable, mainly because my knees and ankles can't take heels. Been wearing the other pair with higher heels for a few days now and both knee and ankle are starting to hurt now.

Was hoping to get a similar pair in HK, I think the fashion police dog knew and wanna make sure I get a new one.

cheap cheap

It's 630pm, I had McD for lunch yet I'm hungry now. Planning to go to the gym but I forgot to bring any energy bar. Plus I'm craving for real food anyway:P

Normally I'd go for a cafe like Pappa rich where I can chill, relax and look cool surfing and checking in from the Apple.

Nah...I've been broke. Several insurance payments clashed with other payments, my traveling expenses for example .

Currently reserving cash for the coming trip next week.

A simple meal of bread toast with drinks at papa rich will probably cost me ten bucks.

I'm at a local mamak shop now. Roti telur was great! Total cost should be less than 5 bucks..

So here's me looking less cool tapping on my apple without wifi and air conditioning surrounded by a less yuppie crowd :D

I'm still cool eh?

Only thing is....I'm. Still. Hungry.

I dreamt that I lost my Iphone!

Gosh...so scary yah?
I'm so attached to my beloved Apple that I can't do without it for even a second.

Nah..it must be this new game (Dungeon Raid) that I got addicted to over the weekend.  It's really addictive..!  Check it out > HERE

Have a good week ahead :)
