Earth Hour 2009 (28 March,8.30-9.30PM)

Join me and the rest of the world in this year's Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential lights from 8.30 to 9.30pm on Saturday, March 28th 2009.

It's your choice:

  • Vote for Earth by turning Off the lights OR
  • Vote for Global Warming by leaving them on

Info from Wikipedia:

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. It was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation in 2008.

Thursday going on Friday

Thursday evening yesterday..I got back to PJ from a seminar in Sg Besi much earlier than expected. On Tursdays (if I don't need to work late) I'd normally got for an early BC session before rushing back for tai ci at night. Yesterday would have been no different if not for the seminar and my troublesome ankle.
Luckily..I deliberately didn't pack the gym bag in the car...knowing that I will not be able to resist zooming to the gym whenever I have time on my hands. The seminar ended around 5.30pm and we got back in PJ around 6pm. Thanks to my colleague's intelligent Garmin navigator. With so much time on my hands..I was a little lost on what I should do with the time. It's time like this..one start to find 'better' things to do..things that you have not been doing enough. Like reading..taking a stroll in the park, walking the dog..? Yes?

After much pondering...I decided to fetch Danial (my nephew) from his kindy. Was told that he is quite lonely and pitiful in the evening cos he is always the last to go home.
I had a lot of ideas in my mind e.g. buy KFC or sushi and bring him to the park. Unfortunately it started raining :( He was having his dinner alone in the kitchen when I got there. So well behaved and soft spoken..totally Different from the cheeky boy I know :D
But...the moment he enters the car..he transformed into the brat I knew very well. Every split second he will be doing something that makes me wanna pull my hair out..e.g. had to tell him 50 times before he buckle up, 'de-skin' my FM modulator's remote control, , etc etc etc. Thankfully, while fiddling with the remote he found a song that he likes - 2 unlimited's "Are You Ready For This"...so he kept repeating the song ..that kept him quiet for a few good minutes.
But..all of a sudden...he exclaimed that he needed to Pee urgently---"Coming out oridi!!" What the...! Luckily..we were on the way to the Kanna Curry House..and they have a decent toilet there. That's not all. When we got there..he decided that he needs to do his 'big business' too! WTF! And so..he had to squat instead of stand lor...I really dunno how else to help him wor. Some of you may have guessed right...he pee'd and wet his shorts cos he was squatting. Then..he decided he doesn't need to do his 'big business' after all %$#@ ..and started complaining about his wet shorts! So..we went back to the car..asked him to change back to his uniform shorts....went back to the shop...ordered and ate my roti canai..while he continued to make a mess from anything that he can get hold of.
All that..in about an hour...I think..I grew a few more strands of grey hair and got a few more wrinkles on my forehead!
On our way home..he asked what are we doing next. I told him..we are going back to my house..so he can wait for his daddy to come fetch him. He then asked..what I will do next? I said..I will stay at home with yea yea (grandfather).
He seems satisfied with his evening said...."I like you very much"
Awww.....

Rest it

Decided to see a 'proper' doctor yesterday cause the pain got a bit intensed..I have to be extra sensitive in case the injury is more serious than I 'felt' simply because I don't 'feel' very well.

I've seen Dr Aston last year about my knees and they seem to have gotten much better since. He had just started his own clinic (focusing on sports related injuries) recently..more convenient location but higher charges since it's no longer a GP clinic :(

The doctor confirmed that there's a torn ligament (or whatever that's called) ..thankfully it's minor and should heal pretty quickly ..with proper care and diligent strengthening exercises

No body combat for this week :( but can still RPM with gentle care. He also thought me how to apply taping (see pic) for proper support if I want to continue body combating in the near future. So ma fan...macam la..professional athlete :D Hope I remember how to do it. I asked if he has a written manual on this taping thingy..he said tak-da. So..I said..I can always refer to the internet ? I've seen some articles about taping? He shook his head gently.....anyway he will be giving some free lectures on sports injury and treatment and some classes about proper taping techniques in the next few Saturdays...(refer to the clinic website for more details). I actually bought one of those slip-on ankle guard which is more convenient..but the doc says those do not give enough support.

Looking forward to be 'good to go' soon...

Elife down - nothing to ramble today * * wee waang waang

UPDATED: 5.23PM
Sorry la..I tried hard..no interesting updates today. Will try to ramble abit now..let's see what I come out with:

Sigh..so depressing...really can't think of anything to write today. It's only February...need to perk things up man. Like this can die of boredom man. Really..nothing's much happening. Things at work are also reaching extreme boredom. I have been staring at the almost blank microsoft word document for the whole day! I am so seriously stuck! If I don't come out with something creative by tomorrow I'll be minced.

There are a couple of things on my mind though. Some I've mentioned before I don't want to keep whining about the same same stuff. Pretty much..minor stuff...how to spice up life...to di(v)e or not to di(v)e....bla bla bla. A diving course cost about $850 (cost of trip exclusive)! I was only playfully toying the idea of taking up diving...a coversation with Jenny more or less helped to make a decision to go for it. Jenny said that..she told herself that she must learn how to dive before she turned 40...and so she did and done it. Jenny is one of the many inspirational friends that I look up to. People like me need this kind of friends to give me a kick once in a while :)
So that ..I don't just sit around waiting for miracles to happen.

Left my brand new GNC water bottle at the gym locker room yesterday. How mindless can I be! I hope somebody picks it up and hand it over to the reception or something. Super Tuesday today...haven't been able to enjoy BC as much as I want to becos of the weak ankle. May be I should stop for a while. May be.

While I am whining about my little life....a real nice man I know...a good father of a dear friend is struggling hard to fight sickness and pain. I wish there is something I can do. I have gone through this phase myself..I know very well that it is a trying time and phase that almost everyone have to go through once or twice in life...but then...nobody said it's going to be easy.
Hang in there my friend...

Some Lunch

Badly needed coffee on such a hot mundane Monday afternoon. Lunch was at Medan Selera PJ Old Town - chix rice. MM swore by this chix rice..she claims she can eat this everyday without getting sick of it. For me..it's not out of this world la..tasty to some extend but it's definitely good value...where to find RM2.80 chix rice nowadays. Anyway..we forgot to pay today :D It's because I was busy looking for coffee. A lady came by to take order for drinks..but she said she doesn't make coffee...aik..so I look high and low to get attention of the drink store opposite us..that itself took me a frantic 10-5 mins or so. Waved and waved but she jus sat their looking at me 0_0 Later I heard someone calling out to me from the back .."Leng lui...you cannot order drinks from there..you have to order from this store here!" I said.."I want coffee la!"

Response -- "Oh..then you have to go there and order lor."

niama.

Come back and make 3 in 1 la *_*

Quiet yet Enjoyable Weekend

As usual..struggling to get the week 'going'. By the time I get 'going' it will be Friday again ha-ha. I had a quiet yet enjoyable weekend.

some ME time (watched 3 episodes of Forensic Heroes II back to back),
some DAD time,
some cats/ dog time (and got some bruises from the grumpy male cat)
some cleaning around the house
nursed the ankle..confirmed it's a minor 1st degree sprain..but it keeps happening-simply annoying!

..and spent 'some' money......to place a booking for my love! - the Latio Sport! I was actually quite decided to take the cheaper basic Sedan version...but got dissappointed with it's very light colored interior and somewhat basic accessories. Since the so very handsome Sport version was sitting there ...I 'visited' it again ...the moment I sat in it..wow...all the feeling came back. I can't explain...it's like --THIS IS THE ONE!!!

Impulsively, I placed a booking after some persuasion from the sales person .. i think he is desperate to meet this month's target. He promised that I can still change my mind..eventho he hopes I won't do so. He will also arrange for the tender of my WSL XXX plate :).

But... now..my bro got me worried about its CVT gear box..which may have a potential problem..similar to the Honda City and Jazz which are also using CVT. Die...

In marketing research sometimes, we help clients to understand decision making process. Normally we will woork out a whole list of things that we term as "Factors of Consideration" e.g. normally derived from the four Ps of marketing

..product features..which i don't really care about..CVT la, VVT la..tak tahu la
..price..yea..it's more exp than the Vios..but..I LIKE wor..
..promotions..yea..the int rate is only about 2.6 p.a. comes with free Impul body kit and V-kool
..place of distribution...salesman was quite nice?

Other things will be something like this:
..word of mouth..well most ppl still prefer city / vios
..brand..i wasn't really a nissan person..tot they are more for old men..

But for me..it's the 'intangible feel' that triggered me to sign that purchase:
..I felt good in it
..makes me feel luxurious
..glamorous
..comfortable
..love the color of the semi leather black interior

In conclusion...understanding decision making? Nahh...tough...especially with women.
Now..my brother is grilling me with all the specs from diferent notebooks. Help!!! I only know i prefer bigger than 10 ince screen but lighter notebook wor.

Thinking too much..

I have not written / ramble much this week eh? Lotsa crap from me. Yea..am full of crap. Think I am going crazy. Don't be surprise if you see me checking into a mental institution one day ha-ha. Been thinking too much. I've always been a thinker. Think think think but never really get anything done. I think when I am at work. I think when I drive. Think when I eat. Think when I play. I think I also think when I am asleep cos I always wake up in the middle of the night staring in the darkness wondering why I am awake. Scary eh? If you ask me..what is it that I think so much about...I wouldn't have an answer. I simply don't know. No that there are any major problems going on in my life. Now..I am thinking what I should do over the weekend. Wanted to do some good by going to donate blood...had to postpone plan now that 'relative' is visiting. Busybee asked if I wanna go to the park with her and Ryan tomorrow..but I am having the RPM itch. Gotta have it la.

Other to-do's for the time being:

..collect delivery from poslaju
..haircut?
..clean & return the BBQ pit and cooler box (yes.. since Dec 31 NY Eve do)
..clean room? (er yes...overdue task since pre-CNY)
..am also toying the idea of taking a drive to Kampar / Bidor again - miss the food and I am sure dad will like it
arghhh..I need a get away la.
February coming to and end. What have you done this month?
Not sure about this month..but this week I told a truth.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off - Gloria Steinem
If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything - Mark Twain

Nice sunny weather out there. What you doing this beautiful Friday evening? I will be eating out at Wong Ah Wah Jalan Alor with some old eating kaki-s.

Oh..I will be washing my car this weekend. Bet you it will RAIN!

Keys ..should be with you

Today I was even later than my already usually late routine because I locked myself out of the house without the car keys (and mobile phone). Had to perform some macgyver stunts to retrieve the house keys in the house normally kept in a 'secret' place near the window. Your dear friend here likes to leave house keys in the car instead of having them in the bag. I have lost count how many times I told myself to keep house keys in the bag and not in the car!

My Foot!

Sigh..just when I thought one visit to Oriental Tit Tar solved my ankle problem....a day in heels brought back the pains :(

http://www.footphysicians.com/footankleinfo/ankle-sprain.htm
The signs and symptoms of ankle sprains may include:
Pain or soreness - PRESENT
Swelling
Bruising
Difficulty walking - SLIGHTLY PRESENT
Stiffness in the joint - SLIGHTLY PRESENT
These symptoms may vary in intensity, depending on the severity of the sprain. Sometimes pain and swelling are absent in people with previous ankle sprains—instead, they may simply feel the ankle is wobbly and unsteady when they walk. Even if you don’t have pain or swelling with a sprained ankle, treatment is crucial. Any ankle sprain—whether it’s your first or your fifth—requires prompt medical attention.

Choices Choices

I am a woman and women are born with the right to be fickle minded.

SY was jus asking me as I am typing this...'why so difficult for you to choose a car?'
She is grilling me now..WHICH ONE DO I LIKE?

My answer:

...I like Latio
..but Vios is cheaper and more affordable
..and Peugeot is cool and nice to have and it has much much better features..good value tho more expensive..BUT I don like Naza

SY is happy that I at least know what I DON'T LIKE :D

Before this..I was telling Busybee that I am still undecided if I should go buy that Bag or go to the gym this evening! Woman ma...! Or is it me? Men will never understand why is it so difficult to make such simple choices.

Well..I'm abit unwell today..so..I shouldn't be working out ..moreover I was there for 2 hours yesterday ...enough workout ofr the time being.
As for the bag..I don't really need it ...it's almost a totally unnecessary item :p but I LIKE HAVE IT!

Luckily I am living in Malaysia. What we have here are Varieties! Let's take coffee for example.

When I was in Vancouver for about 2 weeks..I got so very sick of gourmet coffee that I combed the HK airport during transit for man-made milk tea! My aunt thought I was such a siu jeh!

When I was in Beijing...I was seeking high and low for coffee shop....do you know that they don't really drink coffee? You hardly find a cafe..luckily Starbucks exists there. In Bangkok..about the same..no such thing as kopitiam, mamak stalls, coffee shop for a nice relaxing chat while we sip our drink. My SIL's sis who lives in BKK just love our 'hanging out at coffee/ tea stalls' culture.

Malaysia is heaven! Coffee alone comes in different varieties..and each gives us different satisfaction in terms of taste, ambience, feel, etc. Lemme enlighten you...in Malaysia..Kuala Lumpur in particular..when we want to have a cup of coffee ( or tea) with friends..we can choose from:

...Gourmet a.k.a expensive cafe in the likes of Starbucks, Coffee Bean which gives us a relaxing and clean ambience and WIFI access

...Modern Kopitiam i.e. serves local coffee shop coffee and toast and eggs etc...but rejuvenated and modernised to offer a comfortable environment..has WIFI access as well.

...or..if one finds Modern Kopitiam more expensive ..just drop by any chinese coffee shop..there we can have our favourite hawker food e.g. fried rice, fried kuey teow, wan tan mee, prawn mee....etc etc etc etc etc...with our favourite drinks! No air condition and WIFI though....but some are beginning to offer WIFI and air cond recently

or..a simple mamak stall which can be as simple as a road side setup. They serve delicious drinks like the above teh tarik (pull-tea) or kopi tarik ..in English terms..its 'LATTE'. Food...ohh..need I say much about ROTI CANAI .

Malaysia has the Best roti canai! This is based on real life testimonials from my relatives (some are not Malaysians) from Vancouver and BKK who visited in the past few years.
They absolutely love our roti canai..they can have it every night. And if they ever come back again..Roti Canai is the first food they asked for!

There you go....thank God I am in Malaysia. I will be so short of choices elsewhere!
Hmm..what a jumble up post...from cars..to gym to bag to coffee and roti canai...told you..WOMEN are fickle minded!

Now..where should I head to after logging out of this crazy blog. Leave to the road? If the hi-way is clear...I will steeer my car to the right...if not..I will head straight towards the direction of the gym (or home)...or I might just steer elsewhere to this other mall which I can still find That Bag *blink* Excuse...I am little hungry now..can't do RPM ler. nanti pengasan again *blink blink*

Nude Pics

Yet another scandal involving nude pictures. This time involving an up and coming young female politician from the opposition party in Malaysia. No need for me to mention name and background..the news is widely covered by the national and regional media scene. Needless to say the pics should have been widely distributed by now.

I am not a close follower of politics..but I did find it welcoming to see fresh young faces who appear to be much more educated and more in-sync with the current world. I find this latest scandal very sad. I won't take any sides but I do have points to make:

...in de 1st place..why on earth is there a need to take nude pics when you are in a relationship..especially when you are a prominent public figure?? Haven't they learn from Edison's case or the previous Health Minister's case?

...secondly..the ex boyfriend ought to be SHOT..left, right, centre, front and back..if it is true that he released those pics to public

...thirdly, every single person who had a hand in forwarding or posting those pics ..don't you think it is so vicious to do so? What if someone do the same to you, your mom, your daughter...? Some time back, I received an email supposedly with nude pictures of the daughter of the Education Minister, I do not like him...but I didn't see any need to even forward the mail on.

...are all these happening in the name of power and politics? Please lar...this reflects the type of leaders that we have to choose from!

Passion

My nephew (cousin's kid) in Vancouver had just qualified to compete in the Canadian National swimming meet in Montreal. He is only 12 turning 13 next month. He has done well. Everyone is so proud of him and dreaming to see him in the Olympics :D Since young, he loved sports and is particulary passionate about swimming. Achievement aside...I personally think that it's just great that he found hispassion at such a young age. He is also lucky that he gets 200% support from family members who go all out to give him all he needs to achieve his dreams.

Have you found your passion?
I haven't.

Wikipedia:
Passion can be expressed as a feeling of unusual excitement, enthusiasm or compelling emotion towards a subject, idea, person, or object. A person is said to have a passion for something when they have a strong positive affinity for it. A love for something and a passion for something are very similar feelings.

http://www.tipsforsuccess.org/passion.htm
Sometimes it helps to find things that make you passionate.
For example, for which of these objectives can you generate the most passion and intensity?

* Reaching a specific goal
* Accomplishing a certain level of perfection
* Making a great deal of money
* Going back to an original purpose
* Beating a challenge
* Filling your life with as much happiness as possible
* Fulfilling a duty to yourself or your family
* Helping a great number of people
* Creating a superior reputation
* Building a highly-successful business
* Helping others achieve success
* Becoming the best at what you do
* Hitting a specific statistical target
* Earning enough money to buy something you really need or want
* Making a positive impact on society

There is nothing stronger than a leader with a firm direction and passion to get there.

Nature Valley Granola Bar - Love it

Read about them here: http://www.naturevalley.com/Products2.htm

I've been taking these instead of the previous brand (Real Energy Bar). This costs about $10.90 for 12 bars (each pack comes with 2 bars). The previous brand that I was taking costs $3.50 per bar. Judging at the price the previous one should be more premium? But I had such an awful experience with it I can't bring myself to have another bite of it. Why? What? Well..the pharmacy was having some promo to clear their short expiry stocks...the expiry is in September. So long some more..I thought it's alright. They were pushing 3 bars for $5. Good buy rite? First one ..was alright. Left the others in the office for the weekend. Took second bar and went for RPM on Monday...and got sick to the stomach..to be fair..I 'd think it's because I have not been eating properly that two days, nothing to do with the bar. Took the last one the next day...euww..tasted horrible...the almonds had gone bad. So horrible that I had to throw it away. Couldn't help but wonder if I got sick the previous day because of the bar?
It may be just coincidence. Or..may be I should have refrigerate them.
Anyhow..I can't bring myself to eat them again. So...I had to look for alternatives lor. Nature Valley it is - loving it! Tasty and Cheaper somemore. :) So..folks..instead of those teh tarik and curry puff...take a granola bar! It's a healthier alternative :) And...it's convenient too.

Helplessly Lost

Can't think of a better phrase to describe an almost disastrous Friday morning drive...help me find a better after reading on.

First..the LDP was at a standstill right form the point after the Kepong toll. All because of road closures to give way to the Tour de Langkawi cycling race! They were actually on the other side of the road..it's quite cool watching them cruise by...at this point I am still cool. Thought traffic will be smooth in a while.

I was wrong...it was slow slow moving all the way to SS2. Since it seems like it will take longer to reach the normal SS2 exit that I normally use..I followed some cars to exit at the first turn not really sure where it will lead me to. One wrong decision to take the left instead of right...left me lost in the housing area. Ended up in two dead ends. Next, decided to follow some cars..thought it won't be too wrong since so many cars are heading this way. Ended up in a long queue...in housing area totally alien to me...total suspense..where I will end up in.

In de midst of the suspense ...I took a picture of these cool policemen on horses ..taking a rest under a tree :D

Guess what, the queue landed me in another mess at Sprint Highway after Eastin Hotel! Was totally helpless at this point. Turn right to go to opposite and then turn to Dato Abu Bakar or turn left to exit to LDP and attempt via SS2 again? I took the latter.

...again crawling on LDP. Still slow slow moving traffic. Stubborn me....decided to take the 1st exit again. And ended up almost lost again. Stopped to ask for direction...and safely arrived in SS2 this time!

So so late to work. Luckily..everyone else were also stuck in traffic. My whole body is sore and stiff now..too tensed up with this stressful driving condition. Ankle oso pain. Think I may need to get someone to take a look at it.

On the other hand..I've always wonder...why is the Tour de Langkawi held in KL..they cycle all the way to Langkawi?

Wikipedia says:
The race was formed based by the idea of former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohamad, along with Wan Lokman and also the First Cartel, the race was successfully held for the first time in 1996. For the first few years, the tour always started from Langkawi, however it is not lately.

Netbook

Asus Eee or Lenovo S10

Either one of these may be Mine soon :) Asus recommended by FY while Lenovo recommended by big bro. Ohmmm....

I am so illiterate when it comes to these things what's a netbook and a notebook?? ...according to http://ezinearticles.com/?Notebook-Vs-Netbook---Performance-Or-Portability&id=1655687:

Notebook, or laptop, is a portable computer that normally have :
Screen size : 12 Inch and up
Processor : Intel Pentium Dual-Core,Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion X2
Graphics : Integrated or External Graphic Card, from Intel GMA x3100 to AMD Mobility HD 3870X2
Weight : 1.9kg and up

Netbook, a smaller variant of notebook, 1st poineered by Asus with their release of Asus Eee PC 700,and now laptop companies such as Acer and MSI released their own netbooks (Acer aspire one and MSI wind respectively), have :
Screen size : 12 Inch max
Processor : VIA C7 1.2GHz, Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz or AMD Geode 800MHz
Graphics : Integrated Graphic Card, mostly Intel GMA 900 or 950
Weight : 1.1kg and below

The article concludes that ...

In the end, it all boils down to you. Which one you prefer the most. If you like to play games or watch movies, notebook is the way to go. If you surf the web more often and type short documents, netbook is you choice. Be warned that netbook keyboard is really small and not suitable for long-term typing.

So..netbook it is?

Tolerance

Voltaire quotes:
What is tolerance? -- it is the consequence of humanity. We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly -- that is the first law of nature.

..we go by our daily lives learning to tolerate some things, some one, at different levels. I'd think I have a relatively high tolerance level. Basically, I dislike conflicts, hence, most of the time I chose to Tolerate. Something happened today..or rather the same thing that keeps happening had triggered me to wonder about Tolerance. Shall I tolerate? Or rather..can I not tolerate? Or...does it matter anyway?

The web is so poweful..you can google almost Anything. Out of curiosity..I googled on Tolerance and found a relative interesting write about the subject - HERE

Some intersting points made were:

William Ury notes, "tolerance is not just agreeing with one another or remaining indifferent in the face of injustice, but rather showing respect for the essential humanity in every person."

Why Does Tolerance Matter?
...being tolerant nonetheless remains key to easing hostile tensions between groups and to helping communities move past intractable conflict.

What Individuals Can Do
Individuals should continually focus on being tolerant of others in their daily lives. This involves consciously challenging the stereotypes and assumptions that they typically encounter in making decisions about others and/or working with others either in a social or a professional environment

I Shall Tolerate. No?

Why do I RPM + BC

Yet another gym related post. Can't help it la....going to the gym has become such a routine for me. Good and bad. Good because it's a healthy hobby that keeps me fit and 'not so fat'. Bad because...I have yet to find other interesting things to do in life (boo hoo..get a life man!) A friend was complaining to me about her brother who spends so much time at the gym instead of coming home early or go find a girlfriend....I kind of understand how he feels. Since he has not found his gal, hence, relatively idle with his free time...instead of coming home to watch TV..and listen to family matters...or going out to booze or eat with frens (how often can you do that..)...working out in the gym seems like the best alternative solution ..right? Moreover..may be he has a 'target' at the gym ??

Anyway...I meant to write abit about RPM and BC. Ya...again :p

After 3-4 years paying quite substantially on a gym membership...I must say I only got more value out of the money spent starting from mid last year...which was when I started going crazy over body combat. It's been more than six months (about there) now...been doing at least 3 BC classes a week. I've gotten so used to it that...at times it seems like a stroll in a park. Don't get me wrong though ....BC is not an easy exercise...I couldn't move my arms properly for more than a week after my first attempt. It's just that it is such a fun exercise, hence, one tend to enjoy the process of doing it so much and didn't realise that the body was actually slowly adjusting accordingly in terms of endurance, agility, etc.

I also believe that it is because of all the BC training that made me strong enough to endure the much more vigorous and demanding RPM exercise. One fine day in January this year..I suddenly decided to try it out. Amazingly, I enjoyed it. Although it was tough but it wasn't as difficult as compared to the 1st time I tried it some years back. Since then..I had tweaked my schedule to the gym to fit in RPM as well as BC . All this seemed impossible if it was 3 years ago...I don't know why. Tuesday is my super day (by my standards) ..a day when I do both RPM & BC back to back. I guess....as I 've said many times..when there is a will there is a way.

RPM is still tough. As some of you may have read...I almost blacked out recently. A friend gave a perfect description --when you do RPM.."your legs seem like it's going to 'tercabut' (fly out) and your lungs feels like it's going to explode" Her description is quite true...not so true about the 'flying legs'..but the lungs...yes...gasping for air all the way. Last night was quite bad...so bad that my ribs ache now. Don't think it's becasue of the gasping :D ..I must have strained some oblique muscles..old injury. Decided to take a rest today....although ( was actaully planning to give RPM another go today (fav instructor today *hee*)..i must admit..at times my motivation to keep going to certain classes is driven by the intructors on that particular day. I think it's true for most people. I've heard of gals going crazy over certain male instructors that they will follow him to different clubs..wherever he teaches.

At times..I wonder why I put myself to such torture. Most times..I keep looking forward to the last track (there are a total of 9 sound tracks in the 50 mins class!) Some times I feel like just giving up and walk away...fortunately I only did that once (so far) ...that particular time when I started seeing too many stars and on the verge of throwing up :D

But...every single time I finished a class ..I walked out feeling greatly satisfied and almost 're-born' *hee*

Last night..someone at the BC class asked me to try out Body Pump...hmm....another one (?)..I may have to go 7 days a week if I take interest to another one ler! On a separate note..I think it's time to start yoga again...time to calm and stretch those nerves. Don't seem to be breathing properly these days.

Okie...it's late!..took me longer than expected to draft this. Sorry if I have bored you..well..may be a lil boring if RPM and BC is of no interest to you...but this is my blog ma...its for me to log my thoughts. In addition..who knows...may be useful to someone else searching for related info in cyber.

Speaking of INFO...I found a good read on RPM from this True Fitness GX Newsletter:
(Just scroll to Page 7-11 for a useful article about RPM, it's meant for instructors but I thought it's 'good to know' for members as well)

The weekend, food, friends & cars

Ok..nephew's gone. I'd better type as much as I can before he comes back. Was fighting for my life, I mean, the PC, for the past 1-2 hours with him hovering all over me. Tested my patience to the maxx man!

Before this..I was 'forced' to carry Angie (my 1.5 mth old niece) for about 15 mins ..longest record for me in carrying a newborn ha-ha..I think she enjoyed looking at me..didn't cry wor...jus kept on staring at me admiring my pretty face :D

I 'allocated' whole of today to spend time with Dad. Introduced my 'love' to him..the Nissan Latio Sport :D :D :D but unfortunately he prefers the Sedan wor. We also tested the Toyota Vios S version. Without much convincing..he, too, felt that the Latio is notably more comfortable to ride in..his exact words.."the other one..not very stable..very shaky". And when I told him that..the price difference is more than 10K..i.e. Latio price starts with a '9' while Vios starts with a '7' only...his reaction was .."kau mai kau lor'. As for me....this second test drive re-inforced my 'love'...Latio is indeed a better car no doubt. Well..based on it's price and specs..it is in a different league..so it is unfair for me to compare it against Vios...back to the apple vs. grape theory...sigh!

I must say that I had quite an elaborate weekend.....well..it was basically food and friends apart form the routine gym and tai ci-ing.

..starting from Friday afternoon/ evening...

..took the LRT from PJ to town...

had long lunch @ Shin Kee Beef Noodle and post lunch coffee@ with Aunt before going to the temple to pray tai-sui

...got stuck in the rain at Taman Jaya LRT station..thanks to FL who came to pick me up
...lepak-ed in Tropicana City Mall while waiting for others for dinner
...had Friday dinner at Pho Hoa

Never had so much beef in a day ..some more went to temple ...shame! And people are telling me that I shouldn't eat beef as a buddhist and an oxen. I don't usually fancy beef,..but these two places has excellent beef!
On a separate note, the experience on the LRT was somewhat 'refreshing' ..i can't remember when was the last time I rode on one. Must be years ago. I had the previlige to be on the same carriage with a group of deaf-mute young ladies. I got fascinated by the alternative communication manner....with sign language...they can communicate without shouting their lungs out. ... eventhough they were sitting in different corners of the carriage...such peace. And ..they use mobile phones too....the wonder of sms and mms!
Thirdly...walking around in town..can't help but feel unsecure. I was on alert all the timewatching over my shoulders..front, left and right. Had all my cash placed one pocket and mobile phone in another in case I am 'lucky' again to stumble upon a snatch thief

Saturday..was a relatively quiet day..with some housework, RPM and back to the house waiting for MM to visit. Had a relaxing tea and some snacks with MM and family at the Waterfront Desa Park City before they left for family dinner and me..simple dinner with dad before meeting up with WP for drinks at mamak at nite.
Sunday..taici /BC morning -- have gotten so used to this routine...think Sunday will not be the same without either one.
met up with SM and family at Westlake Restaurant @ Sunway Resort for lunch. It was a stressful meet..to be honest. Her baby was unwell...SM was also recovering from the flu she got from the baby. They had to take turns to attend to the poor sickly boy...I watched with my own eyes how a baby vomitted 'a fountain' of digested food ..ermm..so much for lunch. Nevertheless..at least we met!
In the evening...met Busybee and gals at Tea for Two @ Bangsar.

Ocassion - Busybee celebrating her freedom from confinement,
This is the 1st time I heard of a mom on maternity leave coming out to celebrate with friends after the full moon. Way to go babe..u r always my hero when it comes to motherhood.

Ooops..it's 10pm liao. I gotta get home to freshen up and meet my old pal..the DVD player. Astro programs really suck nowadays...I was so bored that I started on this drama series my aunt loaned to me - Forensic Heroes II -

had been the drawer for months...just didn't have time to start. I am hooked now. Kind of out-dated..but I like :) Loved the casts...handsome hunks, classy babes!
P/S: Think I sprained my ankle slightly while doing BC on Thursday...think it is slightly swollen but there isn't much pain though but then..remember my 'cacat' definition of pain?...will see how it is in next few days.

Perak Government Collapses

Source : http://www.malaysiakini.com/

In case you are wondering...or in case you've been like me..ignoring the ever so uninteresting m'sian politics and such....

after much hoo haa...think i'd better (at least) get an overview of what the heck is happening in Perak...reluctantly..i clicked on Malaysiakini...here goes..a little summary ..

5.08pm: 'PERAK GOVERNMENT FALLS'.
Najib said at his press conference that the Barisan Nasional has the support of the four former Pakatan Perak assemblypersons - three will be "BN-friendly" Independents, while Nasarudin will rejoin Umno.
Najib will meet the Perak Sultan as soon as possible. He said it is up to the sultan to decide on Nizar's request for dissolution of the assembly.
"All three state representatives - Jamaluddin, Osman and Hee - have submitted resignation letters to their former parties and have informed the sultan of their resignation."They have also given BN the mandate to select a new menteri besar for Perak," he said.

Nasarudin has denied the claim that he had been abducted. Najib added that under Article 16(6) of the Perak constitution, if the menteri besar loses the confidence of the assembly members, he is required to resign, together with all the exco members under him.
However the final decision now hinges on the Sultan of Perak - if he accedes to a Pakatan request for dissolution or allows BN to form the new government
.

..can't bear to go into details (I've no patience for 'wayang kulit' I shall just wait for the final outcome..so what say you - can BN re-claim Perak)...

Wealth vs. Health

howdy...

just noticed that the visitors count of this blog (sitemeter top left hand corner) has just reached 10,000 ! Five figure ler. It will be good if that's my salary. Do you have a five figure salary? Some of you may have achieved it by now..but I haven't ler.

Is money really that important? It is ..to some extent. But then..$$ can't buy happiness ..can it? With $$ I can have my dream items....luxury cars, branded stuff, comfy house, join a gym...etc etc. Whenever I buy something I like..I get some sense of satisfaction - retail therapy. But how long will these kind of happiness last? One may have lotsa money..but without health, good friends, family..$$ may not mean anything. And..as the saying goes..one can't bring $$ into the coffin. So how...

Sorry...I am rambling aimlessly again. As usual..didn't have anything in particular to talk about .. ..just letting my thoughts dictate this post. Just read someone's blog entry...about her mom's passing just before CNY after a long battle with cancer. Touched me. Reminded me of my mom's passing. That explains my rambling mode today :)

Nahh...best solution is..don't think so much. Thinking makes one age faster :p Just live a good life. Be a nice person. Be kind to yourself. Live with no regrets. Love your loved ones. Be grateful. Live healthily..ermm...define healthy? Divert abit...I had several 'arguments' with fafa. She likes to drink while I like to work out. When I advice her about drinking too much...she will say that drinking is her hobby..just like how I like to work out *hmm* When I shared with her an inspirational blog entry on '100 list of things to do' (which is so cool)...fafa said - "if I have a list..one of the item..would be to make WSL an alcoholic' HA HA!

Believe it or not..I've been enjoying drinking. Had a drink with Mag n fafa on friday and tonight meet again and Sunday nite..Drink again with busybee to celebrate her 'freedom' from confinement ..expesive hobby to have le. See..how can not to have $$ .

By the way, I survived RPM-BC last night :) Was abit apprehensive at the beginning of the RPM session...but all went well. This time well prepared -- energy bar, UHT milk, Corn in cup and isotonic drink :D

Hmm..not too bad a post this turn out to be...even got a title :)

Cheers.

January 2009

I let 12 months flew by me too quickly in 2008. And now..the 1st month of 2009 had just ended! Lemme just attempt this -- attempt only ah -- I shall review 'my life' in each month here. Hope it doesn't stress me up too much. Ok...January..what happened in January huh...

Lucky thing I have this thing call the blog..that I record down most of my life happenings, well..pretty much....revisiting my January posts now :)

IN January...

  • NYE 'house-warming' at my new empty house
  • NY day at SY's house

  • Fell in ove with Nissan Latio Sports but most likely will not get it for practicality reasons
  • Picked up RPM another new hobby at the gym..as a result..been going to the gym almost daily and gotten use to 2 classes in a row routine

  • Visited CLK and baby
  • Visited Busybee & baby Megan and we had fun
  • Angie my niece turned one month old
  • Met 'BMW' at car park..have not seen him since :(
  • Tried shabu shabu for the 1st time..and liked it
  • Signed up (almost..will try fax it again) my third monthly contribution charity program
  • Had another accident but thankfully no major damages nor injury

  • CNY was not too bad after all...as usual caught up with relatives old and young. I just had a fabulous dinner with about 16 persons last night. The table was packed..there were 4 old folks (aunts, bro's MIL and dad inclusive), 5 kids (aged from 1 mth old to 15 yr old) and of course middle aged adults like myself, my siblings & spouses, cousins and spouse.oh ya..I carried Angie for the first time last night :)

  • Going to visit my childhood friend of 23 years now :) I hope she won't drag me to houses of her single friends again. she did that last year..hoping that she can hook me up with her single male friend *rolling eyes*

So..how's that? I don't know how to judge. what say you? Pretty fun January I would say. Nothing substantial though. Wonder how February will be like :) It will be a short month. There's a long weekend around the corner. And then pay-day again woo hoo...

I've been itching to announce something..but dare not..cos it will be so shameful if I don't achieve them (as always...) but what the heck! This year..I aim to have 2 things done.

  1. climb Mount KK
  2. learn diving

Hm...just read in the papers that it's getting very difficult to book into the KK thing...I am totally relying on Jenny to organise this. Fingers crossed! As for diving..I just have to open my mouth..and build up the guts...Trish's hubby (a diving master) should be ever ready to teach.

And oh...this is a nice song..think it's an old song..love it.

Partial lyrics as follows:

You're always on my mind
All day just all the time
You're everything to me
Brightest star to let me see
You touch me in my dreams
We kiss in every scene
I pray to be with you through rain and shiny days

I'll love you till I die
Deep as sea
Wide as sky
The beauty of our love paints rainbows
Everywhere we go
Need you all my life
You're my hope
You're my pride
In your arms I find my heaven
In your eyes my sea and sky
May life be our love paradise

I am not in love lar..just stumbled upon this song..and it's melody and lyrics left me 'in the air' :)
