Gleefully Happy

Yo! Tonite I don't have to worry about what time I should go to sleep cos I don't need to go to work tomorrow *grinning*.

I couldn't back track where I found this kitty pic. Hope nobody will sue me for using this illegally.

Yawnzz..as much as I want to stay awake all nite...I can't. So sleepy now. Can't think straight liao.

I went to One U just now. Just wanted to snoop for good deals from sales and since I was in such a good mood *grinning*

Some of you may think that it's such a waste leave day just like tat..but I love doing it! Very very good therapy ..to take short one day break ..while everyone is working.

Even the promoters saw that I'm in a good mood. Like wise..everyone I meet seemed so nice & friendly today :) From the promoterts to the cashier to anyone that I come face to face with.

And yes..of course...I spent.

Neutrogena was having some road show..the sweet promoter managed to get me to buy a set of their facial cleanser & scrub..that comes with a small gift pack. She happy. Me happy.

Also bought two Calvin Klein bras....each at about 50++ and 60++ after 60% discount. Never tried their bras before...got tired of Triumph and Wacoal..will see how it goes.

Almost don't know what I am typing. Very the sleepy.

Taking WSL XXX to service ctr..then SM is coming to pick me up for brunch :)

Meanwhile...here's what the bruise from Blackie, the gentle Giant looks like today:

Sun Looks HOT

b o r e d...so came in here to fool around.
Waiting for some work stuffs ..ball not on my end...so I can only wait. Trying to do other stuff while waiting...a bit agitated. Was chatting a little bit for distraction too. Check this out..three confused and bored individuals..trying to keep each other entertained.

Afraid to leave behind...

Ahem..I'm late again. It's Tuesday! Big deal..
Nothing much to talk about actually..was about to log off without updating..but didn't have a heart to..cos I know some of you have a habit of 'tuning' in everyday for a read?

I'm hungry now. I had a lot of rice for dinner before going for tai ci. At about 1130 jus now I had some biscuits. Now I'm hungry again. Is this an illness?

Abit paranoid lately. Too many unexpected news about sickness & deaths lately. I clicked into Yasmin's blog again a while ago..hoping to find a new update. Or may be someone..she assigned to upkeep her blog...as if she knew she's going to be gone suddenly. Sigh..she must be so reluctant to leave. So so much she hasn't done.

I'd thought arrogantly many times before that I don't mind dying since life is so demanding at times. Now..I have second thoughts. It is indeed a scary thought. I was telling SM..dying is not a problem..it's the thought of leaving behind people that you love & not being able to do things that you love.

First MJ. Then MK's dad. Now..Yasmin. Can't blame me for being paranoid :p

Anyway..I realised that some of you are not too familar with Yasmin Ahmad's work. Not that I am..but here's a good one from her. Enjoy...

Sad Day

I was determined (really!) to go for tai ci this morning but it started raining at 6am..less than an hour before wake up time. And it continued to rain till later hours in the morning. Just as how I quietly wished so..so that I have an excuse to stay in bed. The 'raining' excuse is totally rubbish..I conveniently chose to forget (while in slumberland) that there is actually an alternative indoor venue when it rains. And so..I stayed in bed till 9am..fortunately I was sensible enough to at least wake up to go to the gym for bodycombat. Sigh..I've missed so many tai ci classes lately, I think I've forgotten half the moves! But then..it was so so nice to stay in bed this morning..part of me was actually still slumberland during the bodycombat class :)

Little did I know the solemn morning may probably be the heaven's way of welcoming Yasmin Ahmad who had passed away unexpectedly the night before after suffering a stroke at a young age of 51.

Can't help but feel somewhat sad by her sudden demise. I won't consider myself as a close fan of her work nor do I keep myself very up to date with the local film industry but..Who Doesn't Know Yasmin Ahmad?? Well..even if you don't know her..I am very sure you've seen and like at least one of her many productions be it films (like Sepet) or any of her uniquely created & directed TV commercials (for Petronas for example)

I went through her blog just now...good to have a blog...it leaves behind a part of you..it's a treasure especially when one is no longer around.

oh well..so much for that...life goes on. Let's just try harder to live our lives a little bit better each day so that we don't have too much to regret ...when we or any of our loved ones leave eventually or..unexpectedly.

By the way...I go tanned today while having dim sum!

Was at this place called Jin Xuan (at Damansara Jaya near Atria, same row as Maybank) who serves excellent dim sum. It's been a long long time since I had such good dim sum.

The place was packed! Mich's exact words when she called me was ..."it's like a product launch atmosphere here" :D

She got a place for us by the corridor..the sun was shining on my back...for a good 2 hours. It's morning sun (early afternoon to be exact) ..and the weather was quite cooling.so I didn't make a fuss. My back is still Red now :p

Here are some random pics that I desperately took only after feasting..as usual!

Don't bother trying to figure what they were meant to be...rubbish shots!
Just google for Jin Xuan..and you will find loads of blog post about it. I clicked into a few but still like this one the best >>click HERE --very few words but the pictures speak wonders! Enjoy...
Sigh..it's midnite again. One of the main reason why I don't like to sleep early is because I enjoy night time. I like the feel of an 'end day'..as in "I lived through another day". And I write better at night :) Imagine I was trying to write something since 7pm ! I actually dozed off at around nine just now ..but I dragged myself up ..I don't particularly agree to sleeping so early on weekends. Time is precious on weekends...e.g. going to bed so early on a Sunday means..Monday will come Sooner. Noooo....
Haha...the fact is..it is now officially Monday ..huuu..
"Good bye Sunday, welcome back Monday" -- says one of the many status updates in my contacts in Facebook.
Live a better life..remember??

We can be like the Bumble Bee too

It's so late, thought I 'd take a quick shower without washing my hair but I couldn't stand my smelly hair. So..while I was washing my hair I got some inspiration to blog. I was actually telling fafa that I have not had much mood to blog lately. Now that I have a little urge to talk crap..I stubbornly wanna do it now..even tho I am super sleepy. Told you blogging is an illness!

Few days ago I put up a quote in FB:

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway...Mary Kay Ash

We discussed this over dinner n drinks with Fafa and SH at Alexis, Gardens. Three of us shared Penne Carbonara, Seafood Pizza & Clam Chowder.

So difficult to understand meh..the quote? Basically what it means is...we should not focus on "what we can't do" instead focus on "what we want" ..before we know it..we will be flying! Understand?

Just like..how I was having a relatively tough week ..instead of focusing how crappy things were..I chanelled my thoughts to whatever positive outcome or gain that I will get out of it. It can be as simple as...NOW..the week has ended! Weekend is here! I have even forgotten...what crap that made me unhappy already.

I just had an enjoyable relaxing dinner with two crazy people :)

As usual la..what can three ladies do..chill out only..talk crap and do silly pointless things.

Like...getting SH to sort out my credit card receipts that were overflowing my wallet. I only wanted her to sort out older ones so that I can throw away..say those from 2-3 months ago. Yeah..that old.

SH being SH...she has an 'occupational disease'. She analysed and concluded that I prefer using my Martercard more than my Visa and she sees a pattern in my spending. Whatever pattern...didn't get around to get her to elaborate. She also insisted that I should sort my receipts by recency. Researchers are 'sick' :D

Not sure how long we were fooling around..from eight plus to close to midnight..somewhere around there!

So so much time..that I had to look for things to kill time...I read a BOOK...

Yasmin Ahmad in ICU

THE STAR:
Internationally-acclaimed movie director Yasmin Ahmad, also renowned for her advertisements capturing the multiracial essence of Malaysia, suffered a stroke while attending a meeting at Sri Pentas here Thursday.

The 51-year-old creative director at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur was immediately rushed to the Damansara Specialist Centre where she underwent brain surgery.

At an emergency press conference at about 7pm at hospital, Yasmin’s brother-in-law Datuk Dr Zakaria Zahari, a paediatric surgeon, said that Yasmin was in stable but critical condition.

Read between Lines

I gotta learn to read in between the lines when reading mainstream Malaysian news. By now, in the headlines in all mainstream newspapers...e.g. The Star:

The Cabinet has agreed to set up an inquest into the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock as well as a Royal Commission of Inquiry to look into the interrogation methods used on him by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

At one glance, I thought.."ok..good..there will be a Royal Commission" An ignorant layman like me (for example) actually thought this is fine...and this what everyone wanted. However..

Thanks to the many alternative media and blogs that I ocassionally glance through for counter balance.

Lesson # 1:

It actually is a Royal Commission Of Inquiry that isn't! - from Jeff Ooi

Beng Hock's death will now be investigated by an inquest that will be presided by a magistrate, meaning a junior officer of the Malaysian Judiciary, and Correct Correct Correct, you know its track record.

The Cabinet has only agreed to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry to look into the interrogation methods used on him by the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission).

With the inquest, police papers and evidence will be depended upon heavily by the magistrate in conducting the investigation.

This is a huge deficit of the People's trust and public expectations.

Lesson # 2:

Cabinet decision on Royal Commission of Inquiry falls far short of public expectation, unsatisfactory and unacceptable..from lim kit siang

There will be no Royal Commission of Inquiry into the causes of Teoh’s death although an inquest would be held.

A Royal Commission of Inquiry will be set up, but only to look into the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigative procedures and to determine if there were any human right violations when Teoh Beng Hock was being interrogated

Birthday Wish

Jane who just came back from her long holiday asked me how I managed to blog almost everyday :) he he...I told her that I'm just a bored soul..nothing better to do since I don't have money to go for long holidays. Blogging is my only spice in life. ha..ha.. Actually, I may even blog more if I get a chance to travel more. Even more things to share!

Anyways..was planning to stay away for the day..but suddenly I have some thoughts pulak. Nowadays, with everyone on Facebook, everyday is someone's birthday. We get notifications on upcoming birthdays days in advance. Some..I don't even bother to wish :p In fact, I don't even make my birthdate known on Facebook but I still get wishes -- that's really sweet and nice.

So..one's Facebook wall and inbox and everywhere will be flooded with warm wishes, flowers, kisses, etc. Nice...I'm quite sure messages and wishes will be significantly lesser without Facebook. Especially those who have thousands of "friends" in their list. I only have about 150+..that also I can't remember who some of them are :p

Last few days (in fact every other day)..I've been seeing birthday reminders of different people on Facebook...I was too lazy to wish. I can't even remember who it was / were. Sorry....!!!

Today is F's birthday according to Facebook, again, wouldn't know if not for the wonders of Facebook cos' I have not been in touch with her since 8 years old (to be exact). We were in the same school since we were kids till 17 years old but I can only remember our kiddie days (as friends) in lower primary. In between 8 years old and 17 yrs old...no idea why we never spoke although we were quite good friends at eight. LOL!

And so..thanks to Facebook, we met again after...28 years ....strangely enough, we can still chat like good pals. It's her birthday today..and I made an extra effort to text her on both her mobile numbers (office & personal) instead of just wishing over Facebook (which is free..).

Hmm..strange things that I do.

I've nothing to say today

Somehow, I've nothing to talk about today. It irritates me when I see my own blog not updated. I'm just here..filling the space..just so I have something for Tuesday, 21 July 2009.

Or rather..I'm bored. Had lunch at the desk. Gobbled down my sandwich within 5-10 mins. Suppose to start work but I'm bored. And irritated cos..the blog is not updated. Oh..I saw Mr Friendly and MR BMW having lunch together at Subway. Hmm..how interesting. Wish I can join them :ppp

I really have nothing to say!

Got home quite late last nite cos we had to go to Sg Long to attend a wake. Sg Long is after Cheras before Kajang..that's what I learnt last night. hehe...not that I knew the way..as usual I was only responsible to steering the wheel ...safely. SY was an excellent navigator...though we did make one wrong turn but it's alright, managed to get back on track pretty quickly. Sg Long is not that far after all...glad we made it to the wake. Spent about 45 mins there..and guess what..we had a little reunion there too..a surprised one. Bumped into another school pal, Esther, whose husband is a close cousin to the family. Not that we don't know about it..we knew..but forgotten :p

What else??

Oh my kitty came home this morning! He went missing for three days. While I was snuggling in bed this morning ..I thought I heard his meow...and jumped out of bed. When I opened the front door..there he came running to me. Awwww....I'm so happy to see him.

Naughty cat!

There..blog updated :)

Let's not be Immune

Today My Facebook Status says..

It's a fact that Life can slip away very easily, at times without us noticing,at times we are given alittle bit of time to prepare for it, but it doesn't mean we will become immune and take things for granted, have you say Hello to your loved ones today?

I am a bit concern that I will eventually become immune to hearing news about people passing on. Will I? Will we? As we grow older..we see and hear more and more about "so and so" passing on. Old age. Accidents. Some are out right sudden. Sickness....etc etc.

I started this post in the morning. Just didn't get around to finish it. Don't know what else to say actually.

Ya..life's indeed ... unpredictable at times. Never know who's going to leave next. Gosh..I sound so pessimistic. I shouldn't!

Let's just take these as reminders...be grateful to our loved ones at All Times.
When was the last time you had a good chat with your old folks?

Btw..I stumbled upon this site -- Death Clock

Apparently I will die only in 2033 in May 8th..so you have to bear with my crap for many long years more. Ha!

How did Teoh Beng Hock die?

As usual, I have not been reading paying much attention to the news especially local ones. Seems like they have been harping about same same issues for ages.

..what language to teach Maths & Science - DUH..
..and then..some hoo hah about Khir Toyo's mega expensive mansion..that he claimed was built using his own funds -- YA RITE.
..and then..the Port Klang issues which had been in debate for as long as I learnt how to read -- hehe..EXAGGERATED.

Yesterday, apparently was a black day for Malaysia.

Teoh Beng Hock, only 30 years old, political secretary to Selangor's Executive Councillor was found dead nine floors below the MACC office (M'sia's equivalent of ICAC). He was taken in to 'assist' the MACC's probe on allegations of misuse of allocations by several state assemblymen. So efficient..so fast to act when it comes to the opposition. It's too obvious not to notice the bias-ness isn't it??

The issue now is not just a matter of bias-ness or unfair-ness. A man has died. A young man with a bright future. A man who is suppose to get married today itself.

How did he die?

Excerpt from a somewhat neutral report from The Star:

MACC director of investigations Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull said Teoh, a former journalist with Chinese daily Sin Chew Jit Poh, was released after his officers had finished recording his statement.

He said Teoh did not leave the building and was seen loitering about, and had asked to rest for a while in the pantry.

“No one saw him after that until we were alerted about a body found on the fifth floor at about 1.30pm,” he said, adding that Teoh was a witness in the investigation.

It is learnt that the MACC office does not have any CCTV installed>>>WHAT NONSENSE??

Read alternative report at Malaysian Insider HERE

Or follow Malaysian Insider Twitter updates on latest on-going at the MACC office HERE

And a from a totally different perpective from Malaysia Today:

He tried to explain that he is not being stubborn.

He tried to explain that no crime had been committed. He tried to explain that he could not possibly implicate his comrades in the opposition for various crimes if these crimes are merely a figment of the MACC’s imagination.

So they continued to torture him. And he could no longer stand the torture. After all, he is not the macho type of man. He is but a gentle man who only wanted to get married this weekend. That was all that he wanted...read more HERE

Power Outage

As much as I wanted (or thought I needed) to sweat it out, someone up there seemed to know that my body has yet to recover from the weekend's non stop activities.

There was a power outage in parts of Desa Sri Hartamas where the gym is. When I got there around 745pm..the area was unusually quiet. Offices, businesses, showrooms, pubs were closed, hence, car park lots were easily available. The normally brightly lighted gym was unsually dark. Members and staff were hanging around outside the premise. I was told that they were without power since 5.30pm and there were no firm indication from Tenaga that power will resume any sooner. So..no point waiting.

Well..I shall not complain though I was quite disappointed.

People who always complain about what they DON'T HAVE, stay stuck.
Complainers attract more things to complain about!

The above is an excerpt from a very meaningful write up about finding Peace of Mind..basically, what it says is that we shouldn't dwell on negative thoughts. Instead focus on being grateful about good things that we have in Life.

Coincidentally, I wasn't in a good mood today. The above arrived into my mail box just at the right time. A good reminder indeed. Of course..it didn't magically cheer me up instantaneously...but it was a somewhat soothing read.

Things happen for good reasons. I am actually quite tired and some muscles are still sore. Good to rest oso lar. Good to to be able to take a leisure drive home. Take a good dinner. Even had time to go over to sis' place for soup. I had two and a half bowls..lol!

But then hor...a huge ugly cockroach greeted me when I entered the bathroom just now - yikes! How not to complain??

I wasn't thinking much about it since The Wedding (not mine) is only happening in late September (so long somemore...) but everyone seems to be planning for it already -- making room arrangements, deciding no. of days we are staying, what are we gonna wear, making flight & room reservations...

As usual, my contribution is zero :p I only have to nod my head and agree to the suggestions and block my calendar. I'd love to stay on in Redang for a couple of days more after the reception but everyone's not planning to stay :( Yupe..you read correctly..it's gonna be in Redang ~~~ wooo. Wastage

Dang. Late again. Was having problem with the internet connection. Had to restart the modem soooo mannyyy times... bl**dy hell.

I forgot to unplug the Ridsect Liquid mosquito repellant this morning, hence, it was left on for 16 hours!!!! Total wastage. That thing costs 7 bucks++ and lasts for about 60 nights provided it's used normally at an average of 8 hours per night.

Now that I've abused usage big time, I shall self impose a punishment of not plugging it on for two consecutive nights to make up for the 16 hours wastage.

Does it work that way ah? Or am I being silly?

Something for Mother Earth

Yup. We did get something done :)

See previous post for more background.

We made our way to Ulu Yam at around 11am after having breakfast near Batu Caves. Well, our initial plan was to leave the house by 9am but being human...and Chinese..time is flexible :) Only left my house close to 10am. Took our own sweet time to have a yummy breakfast.

The a slow drive towards the target destination and had coffee at Ulu Yam town at the same time get some directions to the waterfall.

At about 11 plus we were driving leisurely towards one of the many waterfalls as directed by the coffee shop owner. Quite a narrow road but manageable.

Arrived at Hutan Lipur Sungai Sendat about 20 mins later.

The sign says.."Cleanliness of the forest recreational park is our responsibility"

Unfortunately...if one looks carefully..you will find sights like THIS:

and THIS :

and THESE:

No kidding..we actually did get down to business..collecting rubbish!

The task itself wasn't that difficult.,..but it is easy to give up feeling dejected when you see rubbish all over ..everywhere you turn your head to. We collected three bag full in about an hour and that's probaly only going to cure 0.001% of the potential damages. So..why the hard work??

A chinese woman remarked that "we are collecting rubbish to sell" . @#$

Another curious Malay man asked us what we are doing...I remarked bluntly..saying "NAK JUAL"

Having said that..we are happy and satisfied with our little do. Been talking for years about doing 'something' . We finally got down to do it together despite our busy schedule. Yay!

I dare not commit nor state if we will be doing it anything similar again.

For now..I'm just happy we gave a little something back to Mother Earth. Something money can't buy :)

Let's hope we will have trees and clean water for many many centuries more ....

BY THE WAY...we did have some good food.... hee heee...

Sneak Preview - Ulu Yam

So tired and sick at the document I hv been working diligently on since morning but I'm only on page 18 of...56!!! Kill me pa!

Need a break. It's closed to 5 anyway. Running out of steam.

Quite sometime ago...I had a thought and wrote about it in my old blog. I wrote:

Well, I first thought about it when I was at a small waterfall stream at Ulu Yam. As usual when u visit these places, u will see lot's of rubbish in the likes of platic bags, styrofoam boxes, mineral water bottles, etc etc. Our dear fellow human beings come to these places to enjoy the nature and at the end leave behind not only footsteps but non bio-degradable items which are harmful to the nature. Who and How do they expect these items to clear away?

I was thinking of doing some volunteer work...let's say go 'clean up one place a month'. Doesn't have to be a big area...what we can manage with whatever manpower we have.. Do I sound silly? At times I find IT silly too. At times..I think it's do-able. At times..I laughed at myself when I thougt of IT.

Ha ha....

We will be heading to Ulu Yam tomorrow.

We didn't set much expectations. Will just aim to have fun and ..err...eat.

Look out for next update :) to see how well we did...play vs. eat vs. work :D

Flyday

It's now exactly 17 minutes into Friday. So fast..another Flyday. Last week on this same day I came across a quote that I like alot.

It says.. "TO FLY, WE HAVE TO HAVE RESISTANCE"

Not sure what the original meaning was. But I'd like to link it to our favourite day - FRIDAY a.k.a. FLYDAY.

I'd say... we tend to welcome and treasure the arrival of FLYDAY more after enduring the previous four days with some sort of resistance. If everyday is a stroll in the park...FLYDAY woudn't mean so meaningful. Agree?

How had your week been?

I can't remember :D Think I was a bit down somewhere in the mid week. Somethings just affect me more in one way or another.

Had quite a good meeting yesterday but that also means quite a bit of work to be done in the morning later today when I wake up :)

Guess what - I was stuck in a 2 hour jam after the meeting! All because of one wrong decision :( Anyways...no big deal. I was cool. Only my bladder wasn't - lol. Also missed the earlier BC class @ 6.45 that I was aiming to go to cos by the time I got out of the crazy traffic it was 8.30. So I went to the 9.20 class instead. That's how long I was stuck in the car with a full bladder!

Wooo..can't wait till end of Flyday and it will be weekend again. That's my life. Get thru the week...have a happy weekend..and then start over again.

What a bore ...............

Now..shall I play badminton with the T family again or go get some retail therapy tomorrow???

Planned to sleep early but the repeat of MJ's memorial held me up. Ya ya..can see KT rolling her eyes at me now. She's been nagging me about not getting enough sleep and then bore her in the daytime about being tired and sleepy all day.

Ok ok..I will go to sleep after this.

According to Brooke Shields who gave the most sincere and touching eulogy in the memorial, MJ's favourite song is this:

Smile Though Your Heart is Aching

Can be somewhat slow compared to all the cool MJ tunes but the lyrics are very meaningful. I can understand why he liked it.

(Music by Charles "Charlie" Chaplin -- Lyrics by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons)

Smile tho' your heart is aching,
Smile even tho' it's breaking,
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by,
If you smile thro' your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the sun come shin-ing thro' for you
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide ev-'ry trace of sadness,
Al -'tho a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time,
You must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying,
You'll find that life is still worth-while,
If you just smile...

Keep Smiling :)

Saddened

One after another.
I thought I am already immuned.
I'm not after all.

Suffering and joy teach us,
(if we allow them), how to make the leap of empathy,
which transports us into the soul and heart of another person.
ln those transparent moments we know other people's joys and sorrows,
and we care about their concerns as if they were our own...by Fritz Williams:
