Breaking News..which is Fastest

At about 18.35 hours, we (in Pen M'sia) experienced the strongest tremors ever. Almost instantly dozens of Facebook status updates were up. Nobody knew exactly what was the cause..though we suspected earthquake in Indonesia.

I aborted my online banking task and started to scan all the main online news sites I could think of. Below were my results as at 1900 hours.

Guess?? Which news portal was the fastest (by M'sian standard?)

CNN

Star Online
 Star Online @ Twitter

NST Online - don't bother looking..no updates on the Quake...unless I missed it.

NST @ Twitter...(??)
Malaysian Insider @ Twitter..(no updates)

Malaysian Insider site..mentioned under Breaking News

Btw..Staronline @Twitter was the first that gave me update. Well done!

Heading home now..no more tremors..but I'm still slightly dizzy. Most of my freinds in bigger buildings had evacuated immediately ..lol!

Redang - a wonderful beach wedding & loads of fun

Hi. I'm back from Redang!

It was a wonderful wonderful trip. Sweet & simple wedding do. Met new & interesting friends. Awesome beaches & sea. Spectacular snorkeling experience - never been greeted (& bitten) by so many different species & sizes of fishes in my life. Fabulous fabulous group ..hence, LOADS of FUN.

There. All summarised in one paragraph :D

Really donno where to start..so..I think one para is sufficient. Moreover I lost my camera :'(..lost some good pics..and thoughts along with it.

Still a little depressed that I don't have my own album for such a wonderful trip & ocassion. Been tagging pics on FB non stop in the last few hours. Lovely pics...but..they are so random...unlike having my own set where I can tell a story.

Here are some pics I 'borrowed' from my friends' FB album. Hope you guys don't mind ah..

The beach BBQ dinner ..simple and yet nice!

Food!

where we stayed..Berjaya Redang

Long Beach..it's heavenly

some..injuries..not related to snorkeling tho..more due to 'vain-ness' (shoes)..oh..I did get a nasty cut later on while snorkeling at Marine Park

That's all la. End of a wonderful chapter. More to come...yes..there will be.

The celebration begins..

Hello..

Rather beautiful Saturday. Unfortunately..I started it wrong. Woke up feeling like a total wreck after 10 hours of sleep -.- On most Saturdays I would be RPM-ing in the morning and the rest of the day will be productive but I was so tired this morning (both physically & emotionally) I couldn't get up. Ended up rotting in bed until 10+ Not a good way to start a day. Never been. When will I ever learn!

Still not upbeat now..(it's close to 3pm) though I should be up and chirpy. Hen's night tonite and off we go to Redang early tomorrow morning to celebrate The Wedding of a dear mate! Quite a few people had asked..how come we are willing to spend so much all the way to Redang for someone's wedding...?? Donno. There were no second thoughts. We just wanna go and share the happiness.

Haven't pack...as usual.

Below my lunch & coffee. Am still not 'up'

Deciding if I should shoot off to the gym for the 4pm class. All the way to PJ for a class? I need to perk myself up wor. 2,51pm now...I hv about 30 mins to decide..while I'm rabmbling here. I was happy to see a rather flat tummy this morning :) thought I saw six packs ..lol!! May be I should starve from now on..

Ran out of things to ramble actually. What is there to do for the day?

..dogs - bathed.

..lunch - ate (altho I still feel hungry)

..luggage - out but still 3/4 empty

May be I should go and pack ..

..swimsuit - checked,

..tan lotion - checked

..somthing to wear for the cocktail ocassion - half checked

..ray ban - not yet

...shorts - not yet

..undies/ bras - not yet

..tops - not yet

..cash for use and gift - not yet

..WHAT ELSE???

I'd better log off..will probably only log in again when I return. Tonight's gonna be a good good night. Tomorrow and day after shall be even better ; )

Sober by Pink in RPM44

Loving this song more and more..though I hated it when I first tried RPM 44...it's so lengthy.. I was always waiting the song to end..so I can stop pedalling (for a while before the next track starts).

But hey..it's such a catchy song.

Enjoy!

Sigh..not in a mood to blog yet.

One of Those Days

Ai ya..can't help it la. I feel so emo today. One of those days again...where it feels like there's a huge rock on my chest and I can't really breath properly. Didn't sleep well too :(

Why like that? I don't know. May be I do. A few things la..personal, work...supposedly minor..but it matters when one is emotionally fragile ....hehe. Hormones? Life?

H E L P...

Here's something on Law of Attraction :

Practice the attitude of gratitude the minute you wake up. Nothing can be a better caffeine kick than happiness so why not start your day with this Law of Attraction exercise: remember all the wonderful things you are (or ought to be) grateful for. Even on a subconscious level, a lot of people live as if they are 'victims' instead of 'drivers' of life. Avoid this trap by starting each day with thoughts of how great and beautiful your life is at the moment. This mental exercise will 'set the stage' of more beautiful things to come.

Pay it forward. The universe is not all about you. The Law of Attraction is based on the universal law of cause and effect and nothing can be more positively powerful than doing a good deed for someone. You don't have to go out and save lives but simple things such as helping an elderly cross the street or lift something, or help someone who's lost in your area can do wonders on two levels: firstly, you WILL feel good about yourself and if you're happy, the universe will smile back at you in one form or another; secondly, the person you assisted will think happy thoughts of you too further attracting positive vibes!

Align your outer world with your inner world. As mentioned in the movie The Secret, you cannot cheat the universe. Even if you think or say you're ready for happiness and success, the way you live, dress and act is the true measure. So synchronize your intentions and your actions. For instance, if you want that better-paying job, don't just wish for it; act on it! Prepare a knock-out resume, network with other people, change your wardrobe and dress for success, improve the appearance of your smile and more! Life success is not handed out, it is the end based on your means.

End the day with 'happy thoughts'! At the end of the day, do this simple Law of Attraction exercise: imagine yourself living a certain 'moment'. For example, in the romance department, close your eyes and envision that romantic dinner with your special someone (regardless if you already have a special someone or not!). Is your goal to purchase a new home? Close your eyes and picture yourself tending the garden at the back of your new home or sitting down and reading a book in your new home's living room. Remember, what you think about... you bring about.

Hiak!

Finally net connection is back to normal! Still dunno what went wrong ..heck..I'm jus so so glad I have it back.

Quite some time back I rambled about how I'm not able to scream out loud. I still don't "hiak" when I combat. I still don't think I will ever shriek on a roller coaster ride nor will I scream for help if I ever get robbed again. I wonder if I will shrill if I (ever) get a chance to go through labour pain O.0

I just realised one thing though. The only time or ocassion that I ever let out any loud voice is when I'm playing badminton especially when I am frustrated with a failed shot. lol.

Why huh?

Bidor Noodle Place

Been having problems connecting for the whole day -.- *so angry* Still not able to diagnose the problem. Both modem and notebook were working fine at my brother's place. Why????? As sual..the streamyx call center was no help at all. Grrr.....! I'm now tapping on some unsecured network...very weak signal though...can be disconnected anytime.

No mood now :(

Anyway..I forgot to mention about Bidor yesterday. Well..actually I intended to talk about Bidor in a separate entry.

We were at this wan ton noodle place for dinner supposedly very popular. We were disappointed though due to many obvious reasons.

Let's just call them the 4 P's:

PRICE

- check out the prices above. Ridiculous. A normal plate of char siew won ton is RM5.40! I can have a tasty plate of medium size plate with a yummy chicken thigh for that price in my favourite stall in SS2.

PRODUCT

- were they great? No lor. For RM5.40..there were about 5 pieces of won ton and relatively more char siew. BUT...there were hardly any taste. Bland. I was practically just chewing and swallowing to fill up the stomach...

PLACE

- busy. noisy. crowded. packed.

PEOPLE

- indifferent. Basically, they have such steady flow of custoemrs through out the day I don't think they can handle. Service was slow. Attitude was grumpy.

I won't go back again lor. If I ever stop over in Bidor again..I will rather try other road side stalls nearby of which I was very temped to when I had to wait almost 30 mins for my tasteless dinner.

KL-Tualang-Kampar-Ipoh-Bidor-KL in 10 hours

I've always wanted to capture some good sunset shots along the North South Highway stretch near Ipoh. Love the mountains & valley sceneries especially in the evenings. Since I wasn't driving during this trip I had more opportunities to capture some shots along the North South Highway.

It wasn't easy with the car moving, other cars on the opposite side, trees, road dividers, etc. Basically the chances of getting a good shot without stopping is Nil. Was so surprise to see that this particular one turned out quite well indeed.

What a fluke shot :D

...back to the trip. Good one as usual.

Had my all time favourite Kampar Ice Coffee

And this..the world's best Kaya Puff!
We almost didn't get to have this..there's a story I must share :D

When we arrived at the Kedai Biskut Kampar ..we were told that there were no ready stocks and were told to place our orders in advance ..."may be we will get ours at 7pm or so" it was only 5 at that time! Everybody else were like ordering in 50s and 60s! We only wanted at most 10 wor..pai seh to leave order la.

Think I'd better stop promoting them -.-
We were not prepared to hang around such a small town doing nothing for 2 hours lor..there's really nothing to do apart from eating and having coffee. We can have coffee but eat...only have space for kaya puff :p
We wandered off to look see what other alternatives we have nearby ....while walking back we saw our Dad..standing very closely by the kaya puff counter. We half guessed that he was pushing his luck begging asking the gal to give to him a few.

Well..he said that someone reduced order ..so he quickly asked to take them . Doesn't matter what he did or say.....we got seven puffs!!! Love him for that. This is not the first time.

When we were in the Tanjung Tualang restaurant waiting for our lunch to arrive...we ordered ABC (mixed shaved iced) from a hawker nearby. It seemed so popular..we also ordered la. But were told that we will have to wait. Ya..wait wait wait. Waited until we finished lunch ..dessert never came. So I walked over to the stall to check on it. The stall was manned by an entire family..about 3 sons with parents. So busy. Loads of people eating and many other waiting to take away. Some wanted like 15 packets of different drinks. Oh they have many types ...I actually couldn't make out what they were. Should have snapped a pic hor?!

Anyway..I reminded the chap about our drinks that didn't arrive and stood there waiting. waited and waited an waited. Then Dad came along. Waited for a while..and strut his stuff. Well..he basically asked them again and again and again..quite loudly. Compared to his normal loudness...I would consider this as quite soft...but probably to these small town folks..it's quite loud indeed :D.

And we got our drinks lor. Donno what's so great about it actually..hehe.

The main highlight of the trip is of course Tanjung Tualang to try their infamous Fresh Water Prawns.

A traditional Indian barber shop that doesn't have any customers is right next to the restaurant
We opted for Kong Kee a smaller restaurant away from all the large ones on the main street. The larger ones were crowded , too popular since they were recommended in food reviews & TV programmes.

1 kg of PRAWNS!
RM56

Worth it??Soon Hock (Marble Goby)
RM63!

Was it worth it? Well..the prawns were really yummy. But pricey wor. Will I go again...? Not sure..may be not...since I'm not a great fan of prawns.

I bought fake Crocs

I'm ashamed. Very ashamed.

PIC SOURCE : THE STARONLINE

The above was published in The Star not too long after I bought the cheap Crocs from the stalls. Crocs had issued official statements warning the Malaysian public about imitation Crocs flooding the night market recently. Crocs do not have any reject stocks from China.
Referring to the above picture - the Real Crocs is on the Left!
The article oulined some guidelines to help us differentiate Real vs Fake Crocs.

1. Every pair of Crocs has its own unique barcode/serial number printed on its hangtag. If you see the same serial number appearing on the hangtags of any other pair of shoes of the same model or other models, then you definitely have an imitation in your hands.

2. Every original Crocs hangtag contains information relating to its corresponding pair of Crocs shoes such as its style name, colour description and size.

3. Check for authorised retailers and Crocs concept stores selling Crocs footwear listed in the official website at crocs.com.my. Only stores listed on the website sell genuine Crocs shoes.

4. Check the website product listing and compare the available designs and colours. If you see a shoe with the brand Crocs in a design or colour that is not shown on the website, then it is not an authentic Crocs product.

5. You can also go to facebook.com/crocsmalaysia and post a query.

Customers can contact the official Crocs Service Centre ( 03-6203 2336) if they have any enquiries about the availability of genuine Crocs products in Malaysia.

Sigh.

Can you guess which one is my real Crocs?

@ Home

What you doing?

Me ~~~ sulking at home :( on a holiday eve Friday night! Can you believe that? Thinking hard how I ended up here on such an eventful night. And thinking hard how I'm gonna spend the long weekend. What am I to do tonight? and tomorrow? and day after? and day after? and day after?

Yes..count that! Four long days off work!!!! wooo hoooooo..... It's Hari Raya Puasa, a major Muslim festival. A major holiday means it's a two day public holiday..for Everyone :) Hari Raya is likely to fall on Sunday..hence, Monday+Tuesday is off too! Bliss.

As usual I'm totally hopeless at planning for holidays. *sulk*

As for today, I was suppose to be at the gym for a short workout before dinner with a friend. Sigh...why am I here? Thank you to the rain lor. It started raining very heavily and then traffic built up and then..my short appointment dragged longer then expected...and then I couldn't make it on time to the 6pm BC class. And then my friend couldn't make it for dinner too because of the rain and traffic congestion.

The weather had been somewhat gloomy for whole of today. Hardly any sun. So..what's the use of my brand new shades??

Anyway.. I have been here since ....7pm. Oh..only less than two hours. How come it seems like ages ago?

Dinner turned out to be a simple affair with Dad and sis in law. It's food. Be thankful. I can't help but noticed that Dad is happy Iinstead of the normal grumpy old man) when I'm home early *guilty grin*. Ok..ok..I'm happy he is happy. But..I'm still thinking about food. I'm thinking sandwiches at Wondermilk cafe. I'm thinking Chocolate Lounge. I'm thinking Thosai. I'm thinking roti telur....help.

My Facebook status says SL Wong @ home on a holiday eve Friday night. Unbelievable..

As I'm writing this, got this sms from another friend:

"Eh bikini gal..As I can see fr ur update u ain't doing anythin fun tonite..Me gonna meet el later wanna join??...."

LOL!

Becareful what you put in Facebook..never know who's following you. As for the "bikini gal" address...ignore it..just something that came out of some rubbish talk in Facebook (where else).

Ok..will take a bath now. Hope I can stay awake and join the gals later on. Doubt so. It's tough to stay awake when @ home.

ME, HSBC & Caltex > Esso

I have lot's to blog about these days! But I'm still only limiting to one entry a day ;)..but but..i can't resist from bitching about this strange weird guy at BC class just now. Initially...he had a lots of gaya..shadow kicking & punching away even before the class starts just like a pro kickboxer. BUT..the moment the class starts...oh my...! He was like having his own kickboxing match regardless of what the instructor & the rest of the class were doing. Yours truly here..were lucky enough to be right behind him..he got me so confused. Grrr.. Oh ya..guess what..after about 5 mins into the class..he decided to take off his shoes pulak! wth.. I really beh tahan man! Quickly moved to the other end of the studio during the break far far away from him. Doesn't matter that I couldn't see the instructor clearly there..as long as I'm far away from him!

Ok. Enough bitching. Back to topic.
Some of you may have heard me complaining about RON 95 recently. Ya lor..I'm not happy about RON95 ler...pretty sure the car isn't running smoothly ever since started using it. There were also rumors circulating that Shell's RON95 ain't that good....have not seen any proven official data about it though...but I had decided that I will try other brands for a change.

Coincidentally - I received a text msg about getting 5x reward points from all HSBC cards if we pump at Caltex stations. That's a good deal!

And so..my petrol tank has had the warning indicator light on since this morning..but my morning is normally too rush to pump petrol. The mileage was at about 400. The maximum is about 420-430 for normal city driving. Thought I can refill at Caltex near the offcie when I drive out for lunch. Unfortunately..I was too busy to even go out for lunch. dang..

Come evening..it's time to head to the gym (Hartamas)..There isn't any Caltex in Hartamas. Only Shell. Tak mahu la.

Below - the indicator brightly lit up all the way from PJ to Hartamas. Stubborn. Stubborn.

Was contemplating if I should take a risk..and stretch it a little bit. I remember there's a Caltex on the way home. So..I did. Dare not even switch on air condition.

Guess what..the station that I thought was Caltex supposedly..turned out to be an Esso. DANG!!

No choice la...indicator light glaring at me all the way :D

Silly things that I do! Somemore...filling up in this area (my own neighbourhood) is not exactly as safe is Hartamas. The feel & environment and people you see..is just different. Scary.

Pasta Zanmai

Note : This post was originally started on early hours of Saturday 12 Sep.

It's so late. Didn't intend to blog but I am now :p . While waiting for bathroom..thought I might as well do this..share my foodie adventure for this Friday :)

Read about Pasta Zanmai in several blogs..including Jane..just never got around to try until today..last night I mean.

Was with Tracy, Fafa & SH.
No camera as usual..didn't have any plans to eat out ma.

Didn't even plan to blog until I saw the food presentation..very unique & pretty!Desperately snapped some using the phone.

Awful pictures, I know!
Left pic : Hand roll with tortilla instead of seaweed (told you it's unique didn't I?)
Right pic : err..Pasta

They have like pages and pages of different styles of pastas. We took so long practically studying the menu. Alas..after excellent recommendation and advice from teh manager (he's good!)..I decided to have the above. Can't remember the name of the dish!

Ok ok..I will search the net to look for better description..or at the very least better pics. Was actually surfing for the last hour ..can't find one that I like wor.

Ok..I've given up searching for nice blog pics. Settled for this one from the official site of Pasta Zanmai. There isn't any pic for the yummy pasta I ordered tho..but this one seems equally yummy - Asari to Kinoko no Soup Pasta

www.supersushi.com.my/

I was quite amused with the name of the dishes. Take the above for instance..."no Soup Pasta" ~ meaning?? got soup or no soup :D It probably means "pasta with soup"

Anyway...Pasta Zanmai's food..I like!

One Full Circle in BC

Just realised that I've gone one full circle in BC. Declared my 'love' for it here in Sep 08. Attended a quarterly launch class (Q3'08) for the first time in the same month at TF Jaya . Subsequent quarterly launches was at Hartamas (Q4'08), Pavillion (Q1'09)& Taipan (Q2'09) branches. I diligently attended 2 out of the 3 subsequent launches in Hartamas & Taipan. Yesterday was the Q3'09 lauch at Jaya 33 again..and of course I was there! So..it's been a year! Not bad at all.

While I'm at it..well..so it's now BC 41. I didn't like the previous release..well..it did get better after a few classes...I remember so clearly ..I almost lost motivation to go to the gym ~ lol.

BC 41 -- much better I would say ..though I still like 39 the best (so far). I won't critic too much la..since I'm no expert here. A good review by a qualified intructor is available HERE . Songs wise...was a bit surprise that the Numa Numa song (posted a few entries before this) in the warm up track wasn't as fun as I anticipated it to be....even Kelly Clarkson' My Life would Suck Without You gave a stronger effect (for me at least)..how strange.

My favourite so far...2nd, 3rd and 8th track but for some reasons...that heavy metal song from Metallica had been running non stop in my head almost whole of today. I went for a class (again) today, btw :p

Have yet to try latest RPM 44. May be tmr morning..can wake up ka? Usually no..not on Mondays especially...when I'm still awake now.

btw..a kitten wandered into my house not too long ago..meowing away now. donno what to do with it yet..good thing is the dogs have yet to chew it to pieces :D

To Whom It May Concern

PIC SOURCE :www.melkbosburger.co.za/order
To whom it may concern,
Have you ever thought that it was really selfish and unthoughtful and totally idiotic of you to throw your used packet of ketchup recklessly on the floor and not into a dustbin. And..to that particularly idiot who threw your packet of used ketchup right in front of the gate of my house (the abandoned new house)..$#@ You! I know I don't come back often, I don't really mind some of you using the entrance as your private parking lot but that doesn't warrant you people to dump your trash there.
THAT ketchup packet at the gate ...if you don't have any brains to figure out why I am ranting about it..let me tell you...when one STEPPED onto the packet of ketchup...your truly here..yes ME...literally got splashed all over with ketchup!
Imagine having your favourite pair of khakis and Nike shoes splashed all over with Ketchup...not only Ketchup but probably Ketchup that is days may be months old.

Rocket United Cafe

Fuyohh...DAP has a cafe!!!
How cool is that. I couldn't wait till tonight to blog about this.

First read about it HERE at Patrick Teoh's blog. As usual..the way Patrick blogs about things..damn funny ~ lol.
It's located at SS2 a few lots away from the Maybank branch. Actually..don't know what I want to say about the cafe as I have not even been there. Just thought it deserves an entry in my lil blog here.
Did a quck search at the DAP site but there were no mentions about the place. Quite a few blog entries about it though..but I think this one <HERE> from Straits Times all the way from SG is a good one. The write up starts with this paragraph :

WARNING - Eat here only if you are a fan of, or at the very least, are indifferent to opposition politics. Because if you do, you'll have a giant poster of the Democratic Action Party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng watching over you.
Haha.

More pictures of the place from another blog HERE
See you there?

Miscellaneous

Nothing in particular to talk about today. Was admiring my farm @ Farm Town..can't help showing off the cotton field. Don't they look beautiful? Ignore the empty patch in the middle...tertinggal i.e. accidentally left out.

This reminds me...the other day when I was farming while doing my hair at the salon. Yup..nowadays salons very hi-tech ..you can watch downloaded movie or surf the net while being pampered. The movies were not interesting..so I opted to tend to my farm. The guy who was coloring my hair saw my farm and exclaimed.."wow...your farm is very big...my still very small" :D sigh..I am convinced that 99% of the population is on Facebook! The other guy (the stylist) even said.."must have. peopl will laff at you if you don't know what is Facebook"

Next. This song will be in the coming Body Combat release 41! LOL. Apparently, many participants and instructors around the world aren't very happy about this silly song being part of BC. hahah...I wonder how it's going to be like. LOL.

True Fitness Malaysia will be launching new releases of all Les Mills programmes this coming Saturday (12th Sep) at Jaya 33. BC will be at 10.15 ( I think..)

Alternatively..this is equally funny. Taken from http://nzglen.wordpress.com/ a blog I visit regularly for BC updates. Enjoy..!

A Special Day

7th September 2009 was a very special day. Two of my closest friends became Mothers for the first time within 12 hours apart. Received PPL's good news in the morning about the arrival of her baby boy at around 10am. So happy for her. I decided then to check with Trish who was suppose to be due around the same time. Guess what..Trish was also in the labour ward! What a beautiful day :D Trish delivered her baby gal about 12 hours later :)

Hmm...this friend of mine. Her wedding day also clashed with another good friend (Jane). Being her kiasu self she had informed and invited us to her special day like 24 months ahead of time..so I had no choice but to skip Jane's wedding.

Now..some years later she gave birth on the same day as another close friend of mine! tsk. tsk. tsk. If they ever have full moon or birthday parties for their kids..I will be caught again *rolling eyes*

By the way...today is also a 'special' day for me ~ lol.

I swiped $500 deposit for this package with Kian Classic.

The consultant will be coming take the measurements on Sunday. Gasp! The total cost will be at at least 11k that is if I take everything i.e. kitchen cabinet, 3 warddrobes and the TV cabinet.

Shall I still get the Ray Ban??

Hike @ Broga Hill, Semenyih

There are many things out there waiting to be discovered and embraced. We will see & discover only if we keep our hearts & eyes Open..

An article about Broga Hill was featured in The Star just when I was feeling a little overdosed by mundane daily routine.

Broga, a small town by the border of N. Sembilan & Selangor, sitting at the edge of the Banjaran Titiwangsa.

The beautiful thing is... it is so nearby, only about an hour drive from KL.
(Google for Broga for more info.)

The hike is fairly easy (depending how fit you are :p) .. it takes minimum about an hour to the highest lookout point.. depending on how fast you wish to go. No need to rush....I recommend that it should be a slow relaxing hike to enjoy the breeze and cool air.

I'm actually thinking of going again for a sunset view..but it's not going to be this cool in the evening and time won't be on our side as we will need to rush down before dark. Hmmm..

A fantastic & quick getaway to de-tox from the mundane daily routine e.g. deadlines, traffic jams, facebooking, blogging, eating :p
