As mentioned on previous post (HERE) all proceeds from the sale will go to the Kindergarten Project in Paitan, Sabah.
In Paitan, six hours away
from Kota Kinabalu, villagers live under the barest of conditions; often having
to rely on rainwater for their daily water supply and surviving on one basic
meal a day. The remoteness of location
makes their stories and plight unheard of by most urban dwellers. The journey to Paitan, accessible only by
four-wheel drive or on a small boat on the crocodile-infested river, is a
grueling and often life-threatening one.
It is this very journey
that Franciscan nun, Sister Dorothy Laudi has been making since 2005.
She goes back and forth from the big cities
into the interiors of Sabah, hoping to minister comfort and care to the
poor. Sister Dorothy soon realized that
one of the greatest challenges in these remote villages was the lack of early
education for the children. What started
as a small desire to gather and teach children has resulted, in an amazing
outreach of seven kindergartens serving over 170 children, seven years on.
“The needs are many, and the work is sometimes exhausting”, she
says, “but I will struggle on”.
MADE was deeply moved by Sister Dorothy’s work with the community in Paitan. This
year’s MADE fundraising project will benefit the 7 kindergartens and their
growing needs. It is a small gesture to
support Sister Dorothy as she “struggles
on” in her good fight to educate those who have no access to an
education.
We are now in the midst of collecting as much goodies as possible for the sale. I have in hand some books, soft toys, etc.
I gave these cuties a bath recently, bought some cling wrap from a hypermarket and was supposed to wrap each one up nicely for the sale.
Take a look....
Compared that with what the other MADE member did..
=.="
I am sure they appreciate your effort. If you need help, do let me know
