Nissan Latio I-key Battery Replacement (Update)

This is an update about a month after I wrote about replacing my Latio's I-key remote battery.  Read about previous experience HERE . To cut the long story short, the remote didn't work well at all after the replacement.  In fact after about 2 weeks, it became so bad that at times I couldn't even start the car without giving it a knock or a shake.

I called the HQ to lodge an official complaint.  The gal ..as expected,.by their standards..wasn't friendly at all but efficient.  Made me wonder..customer service..no service with a smile? Well..it was over the phone..but I read that telephone operators were trained to smile when they speak because the customers may not see your smile but they can definitely feel and hear your smile at the other end of the line.

Anyway..the customer service personnel was prompt and efficient in noting down my particulars e.g. where do I go to for servicing and trouble shooting so that she can refer and direct service advisors from that particular branch to attend to me ..more diligently I guess.

Made me wonder for a second time..is this what customer service is all about?

When a customer takes the trouble to call the HQ, it indicates that the problem has reached a different level and needs a higher level of attention.  In my case, since we were made to pay so much more for this intelligent function and yet it failed again and again in less than a year, the company had better look into the matter seriuously to calm my nerves man. Unfortunately..I don't feel any of such effort.

Well, someone did call me personally to ask me to bring my car and key over for them to have another check.  And yes, they fixed it and it's working very well now.  The source of the problem ..haha...it's pretty hilarious - I was told that the pevious battery given to me was an expired battery.  *moments of silence* Din't know what to say right.? Yeah..I didn't respond too.

A few days later..there was a follow up call from the same lady at the HQ.  The same cold voice...I can feel that..she's merely...mechanically doing the necessary.  Following up on cases..making sure those other fellas at the branch do their job. No apology.  No signs of empathy.  Unfortunately.

On the other hand, I feel really bad that I'm ranting about it here.  Some of you may think it's unethical of me.  Well, I don't know.  I've gone to the appropriate channels but no one seems to care.  So I rant here.

I still love the car.  It's great. But..how I wish there are greater sense of empathy and appreciation shown to existing customers..who are inevitably the default Brand Ambassadors. And we do not charge!

Moving & Renovation Fund for Harvest Centre, Sentul

Feeling charitable?
We are moving into May 2010..soon it will be half year, have you done any 'good' lately?

Here's a suggestion:

Founded by Rev. Elisha Satvinder and his wife Petrina Shee in 1999, Harvest Centre began reaching out to the local poor community in Sentul through the provision of medical/health care, home improvement, food supplies and counselling. In 2003, Harvest Centre began to direct its main efforts towards education.
Harvest Centre is located in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. Link to website HERE

The centre is seeking help to raise sufficient funds to finance moving and renovation expenses (of approx. RM196,000) to a more safer and suitable premise.

Embedded is their fund raising brochure with budget details.  Main bulk of the expenses is for deposits, rentals and very basic amenities like air conditioning, fans, electircal wiring, etc.

Renovation Brochure 2010

All donations are tax deductible.

Ways to help:

1/ Bank in cash or cheque to the Public Bank Account stated in the brochure, fax over your bank-in slip with your details and a receipt should be heading your way

2/ Visit the centre personally to offer cansh or items directly

3/ Those who of you who know me personally can donate via me (if you trust me !), I am going through my firend Gina who will be visiting personally and she promised to make sure that we get our receipts :) ..yes Gina?

Birthday Blues

It's end of April.  End of the 4th month of the year.
Time really flies.  End of April signifies two important event.

Firstly, it's the last few days to file our tax. I still have not done it.

Secondly, it's my Birthday.

Yea....another Birthday.

I actually can't remember when was the last time I felt excited about my birthday.  It's tough at this age.  I don't even wanna remember what age I am at now.

Aih.

You know..I was having my regular badminton sessions last Saturday.  I was partnering this young 14 yr old chap.  I'm happiest when I play this game.  I think it's because it is my childhood game..I liked this game since young..even before I started schooling.  Been playing for school since primary..but never gone further than that..cos I ain't good enough :P

Anyway..as I was saying..I'm happiest when I play badminton.  Being on court just gives me a sense of freedom to let-loose.  I'm generally not an expressive person.  Till today I don't 'hiak' when I do body combat at the gym..just can't do it. But when I play badminton..I have no problems expressing myself.  Strange but true.

So..back to my story with my handsome young partner for that particular day.  In the midst of the first game I with him..I heard him called out to me..while retrieving a shot...he used this word .."Auntie"  -.-

Gan said that I should accept it..after all..I am N years older than him. But...it's a badminton game.  I feel like a kid all over again when I am playing..I can't have some one calling me Auntie on court...

Aih.

Sorry..digressed a little out of topic.  Somewhat related though.

So..it's gonna be my XXth Birthday but I'm having the blues.

We celebrated my nephew's 5th Birthday last week.

Only five ..life is such fun when you are only into the fifth year. Lucky chap.

It's a relatively simple cake..but he doesn't mind at all.

How gleeful he is.

As we get older..we don't even bother to get a cake.  How significant is a Birthday I wonder...while I wonder..I googled.  Found this very meaning article from DailyOM.

Excerpts  for thoughts:

...Your birthday may come and go each year celebrated but not treasured, because you don't look forward to having to shoulder another year of age or can't muster up the enthusiasm for a sincere celebration. All birthdays, however, are important and can be a cause for joy, if you look upon them with a reflective eye and a mind toward the blessings the future will bring. ....

...The profound meaning of birthdays is often cemented when we are young, and the day is imbued with fun by our parents. As we grow older, that meaning can change, and can sometimes become negative. We begin to associate birthdays with aging or what we have not yet accomplished. But a shift in perspective can revitalize birthdays as a reason for celebration. Celebrating a birthday acknowledges the progress you have made, the blessings you have received, and the goals you have achieved in the past twelve months.

...An entire lifetime can pass in the blink of an eye, but every new birthday is a chance to give fresh tribute to that life....

I feel much better now.  Happy Birthday to me :D

A typical Day

Was about to log out and retire for the day..went to pee and was all ready for bed..and suddenly this urge to ramble came on -.-

Thanks to my friend's EL's post on FB today.  She was talking about...ermm..quite a lengthy post....and I actually can't recall the gist of it.  It was something she pulled out from her blog..a blog that she refused to share with us. Never mind..the gist of her entry wasn't why I'm staying up to do this.

There were two questions that she posted at the beginning of her entry that caught my attention:

How many meaningful conversations do you have in a day?
Today, I was out with a friend for the afternoon ..so..for today in particular..I talked more than usual.  Whether or not we had meaningful conversations for the five hours we were together ...ermm....we did talk a lot....basically catch up on what has happened in the last few monthssince the last time we met.  Catch up on latest updates about others.  Talked about her kids.  My own life and family. Shared some views about our own version of mid-life little crisis..  So..for today..I had a whole lot of meaningful conversations with one person :D

What about on normal days?
....Apart from the dogs and cats, I have no one to talk to during the first two hours after waking up.
....the subsequent 7-9 hours at work..for those of you who know me ...will probably say that I talk on emails, MSN, and may be even FB more than I talk verbally :D
...the rest of the remaining awake hours ..I will be either at the gym, or sadly..surfing the net again.  Well..I do say hi to my sleeping father, the sleepy cat and crazy dogs.
Very sad.

..before you conclude that I'm one sad soul...allow me to add that I talk and interact with human being more on Friday and weekends ..ok??!!

How many smiles do you offer in a day?

Smiles? I think I did alright on this.  I am generally quite friendly and smile very easily.  Whether or not it is a genuine smile..I'd have to work harder on that :)

Speaking of  "smile" ...I just submitted an entry for the Lumixgrapher Photo Contest in facebook.  The theme for the current round is "SMILE".  Photos are judged based on:

a.Relevancy to Theme (20%);
b.Composition/Arrangement (20%);
c.Focus/Sharpness (20%);
d.Lighting (20%);
e.Creativity (20%).

It arrived on Saturday!
What did I do with it?

Unlike the last time..I promptly filled in my particulars at the back of the card.

All we had to do is tear ir out from any corners.

And it's done.  REMEMBER ..keep it with your ID card all the time.

Time to throw away the old one :)

Almost Perfect

Had a good day. Almost perfect :)

It all started ..when Gan told me that Parkson at One U is clearing off stocks of Triumph's Tri-action sports bra.  My original plan was to have brunch then grocery shopping with dad.  But..clearance sale??!  How can I not go?

So..I dumped changed my plan :-P  I did think about bringing dad along to One U...but nah...too much a hassle.  After all..One U is too big for him. He is quite slow nowadays. Cannot imagine having him dash across one end of One U to the other end just to get to Parkson...and then end up waiting for me to try my bras.  Not a good idea.

Although sale was important..I have one other important thing to do.

That is to have my favourite toast, noodle and white coffee at Sun Yin Loong coffee shop, Kota D'sara. Been craving for these for so long. Perfect brunch!

Next..zoomed to One U.  Original plan..to zoom in and out of Parkson to get the sports bras. But..being a woman..how can I not browse ..it's a shopping haven!

As always..1st stop are always the sports outlets..Thank God  there wasn't any sales.

As I was 'working' my way up to the Ground Floor ..(yea..started at Lower Ground ..hehe)..I saw this new RM5 for Everything Japanese shop. They have displays of very interesting folders, sleeves, etc..right in front of the shop..I couldn't resist.

Bought these:

The A4 sized is for filing. Perfect for lazy people like me..no need to punch hole..just dump everything inside.  Tpoo bad there is only one left. Nice color too!  The black pouch is for my external hard..can be used for cables too...USB cables, etc.  The small red one..is good for small change or cards when I don't want to carry my big wallet.  Hmm..just realised RM5 is a bit too much for this small pouch..haha.

Now..

the euphoric part :D

la di da....

Joined membership with La Senza too. Good deals. Comes with book free vouchers valid for the whole year too.

Why was I in La Senza?  Because - the sports bra in Parkson Triumph are all gone and the sales lady wasn't helpful at all : (

So I wandered off and around looking for consolation.  Did you see ..I finally got my Aldo boots..on a very good discounted price + additional 5% off with HSBC card.  La la la....

Before that I was NB..or was it after?  Doesn't matter.  They are running some promotion where we can bring in ANY old sports shoe and we can get up to RM80 off certain selected models.  I'm looking for running shoe.

Too bad I didn't have any old shoes with me.  I was very tempted to give them my cheap imitation crocs since they claimed they may accept sandals too  :D

I will be back soon.

I shortlisted one and I can get RM80 rebate if I bring in my old shoe.  Can't remember model number..but it looks like this I think.

Or.....may be I should get this latest one?  It cost about two times more..hahaha.  RM400+ I think..but I may get a VVIP disc card in 2 months time and that gives me a 40% discount.

Now..you know why my day was Almost Perfect and not Perfect :D

She alright..I'm alright too..cos I can eat this:

All by myself !
It's Claypot Loh See Fun their famous signature dish.
Somehow..it doesn't taste as nice this time. I suspect it's because I had to eat everything by myself.  I do think that food tastes better and eating is more fun when there are many people to share the food with,
Do you think so?

Being Selfish

Gina wrote about Kindness and Payment ...about Kindness may not always pay...and I confidently replied  - we shouldn't expect any return in what we give, we give from the heart regardless on outcome.

If only life is that simple.

Quotegarden tweets today :
"You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." ~James D Miles

Why do I have to see all this...just when I want to be a tad bit Selfish.

Tell me..is it that easy to give and help without expecting some kind of return?

Did you read about an accident recently about this man who stopped his car to help a motorcyclist who was lying injured on the road but his car ended up causing other on coming motorcyclists to crash ..killing at least one.  It must be the worse thing that can happen!?  Now..instead of being happy about his good deed to save a man..he has to deal with the guilt of indrectly causing the death of another.  How sad can that be.  Who is there to blame?

In Buddhism..karma will probably come into picture...that everything happens for a reason...for what was done in previous life...so on so forth.

Nah..now I've no idea why I am rambling about these things.  I've a slightly puzzled mind today.  I so wanna be Selfish but it's not right.  Not that I have a choice.  But then..I still hold on strongly to the believe...that things will turn out just fine.  Even if it doesn't...it's for some reasons.  Every good or bad thing happens for a reason.

What's the conclusion?

Up to you.  Follow your heart.  At the end of the day..it's just a way of Life.  And..as Forest Gump say..it's liek a box of chocolate...is it?  Not everything in Life is sweet though.

Boy...I'm one confused nut today.

It's Friday ma =)

Understanding Organ Donation

I signed up as a organ donor some years back..it's one of those things that I decided to do ..just for the sake of doing :P After all it's just a pledge...it's not like I'm going to die in the next day or so.  However, about one in two people that I've spoken to about this matter have not or have not decided to sign up.  Somehow there is a mental barrier ..in a way.

Why?  Come on..we won't feel a thing when we are dead.  Well..it's kind of scary to imagine that we will be a kidney-less or lung-less ghost :D  I'm guilty too..cos I refused to pledge my bones, skin or eyes...as I didn't want my corpse to be without eye balls, skin or...bone-less.

lol.  ok..I was an idiot.  It doesn't work that way.

The surgery will be done in the operating theatre just like live patient and will be treated with respect. Only the surgery scar will be visible. All surgery cut will be sewn carefully and perfectly.

Cotton balls will be placed in the eye brackets (for eye / cornea doantion I suppose) and it will be sewn just like a normal eye surgery.

For bone donation, a fake bone will be replaced in return of the donated bone so there will be no physical deformation can be seen.

Procurement process is to be done in three to eight hours depending on the numbers of tissue and organ that need to be removed form the donor. After the procurement process is complete, the corpse will be return in its best condition possible to the family at the hospital’s mortuary.

Ahem..I could have call them now..to change my pledge..but ..I ...still have some reservations.  Ok..I just made the call! And requested to change my registration data to state that I'm willing todonate all my organs and tissues.  So..my 'future' corpse will be :

kidney-less
heart-less
liver-less
lungs-less
eyes-less
bones-less
skin-less

I'm being silly again.  It's not that simple.  It's not as simple as simply transferring all organs to the respective recipients.

Only an organ that is functioning properly and is free from cancer, HIV positive, syphilis, Hepatitis B and C is eligible for organ transplant. Because of that, numerous tests will be conducted to both the donor and the patient just to make sure that the organ is working properly and compatible with the patient before it is being transplanted.

Secondly it depends on how one ...dies.  For instance, just an example..if I were to have a major car accident..has a massive head injury..and ..is officially declared Brain Dead...most of my organs are eligible for for 'harvesting' provided they are all healthy and in good condition. .

Brain dead patients do not have any response and cannot breathe on their own. The heart beats because the ventilator is pushing in the oxygen. Before time the patient is relying on the ventilation and medication to supply blood to all the organs, which will later fail, and in the end even with assistance, the heart will eventually stop.

In other words, why waste? The organs will fail sooner or later.

What about other death causes? Read on.
For those who died a natural death, only tissue can be donated like the eye corneas, heart valve, bone and skin.  Those who died the naturally at home can only donate eye’s cornea.

It's complicated, I know.  I've been mulling over this post for a few days..trying to undertand all the information.  FYI, most facts here were taken from www.agiftoflife.gov.my/eng/

Here are some statistics from the same site as of 1st March 2010:

Registered Organ Donor = 139,193 people

Only 283 organ donation cases recorded

From the number, 20 cases include donation of multiple organs and tissues.
1340 successful kidney transplant cases (Living donation & Cadaveric) in 2009.
≥10,000 patients is currently in the waiting list for a kidney transplant.
7 patients are still waiting for heart transplant while 12 patients for lung transplant.

So..it's Not a matter of how many had signed up.  I've signed up..but I'm not dead yet. So as the other 139,192 people who had also signed up.   But signing up is the first step.  It's about giving Hope.  It's about increasing the Chances.

Now I sound as if I'm hoping for all donors to die very soon.  That's not what I meant!   You people are intelligent enough to understand the logic right??

Obtain a form to Sign Up as an Organ Donor HERE
A donor card will be sent to you and you are required to fill in and sign the card. This card must be kept together with your Identification Card (I/C) at all time. - so that if something happens to us..medical officers are aware that we are potential organ donors.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Tell your family about your decision to be a registered pledger so that your wish of donating your organ will be fulfilled. This will also make it easier for your family to allow your organ to be donated when and if the time comes. I've not done so...not sure how my father will react..my big brother who reads this space..should know though. right big bro?  I shall leave this mater in your good hands..in the event if I die before any of you ; P

Will I ever run a real Marathon?

I've been very quietly wondering if I will or can ever run a real marathon?
The 10km that I did and will be doing again..are not Marathons.  Anything below 21km are considered as RUNS ..only.

10km vs. 21 km...it's only two times the effort ..ma.
Instead of 1.5 hours..it will be 3 hours...o n l y...
Instead of having one and another quarter ankles being sore and limping for half the next day...may be both ankles and both knees and both calves will be crippled for the whole of the next day ..o n l y.

Surely..I can do it......r i g h t?

Now..after reading THIS ..an entry from another 10km runner who tried her first Marathon at the Penang Bridge......

I am is serious Doubts.

1 down, 2 more to go

I'm doing this in the most awkward position.  Home connection is still not up..very disappointing indeed..but I found a spot here in this tiny space where I can ride on some neighbour's connection.  Very weak signal..so I gotta do this fast.  Pathetic ..

It's that time of the year again..

..some skills....I only use once a year.

One down.

Two more to go!

But..I'm only left 24 hours to do so.  Minus :

8 hours of sleep
8 hours at work
4 hours lepak after work

only 4 hours left..tomorrow night :P
If...I don't stay out too late that is..

Ekiden

I've just verbally agreed to participate in the coming Ekiden Run.

Organised in conjunction with the National Youth Day, it is a Japanese concept of relay based road running. It emulates the ancient courier delivery tradition that was used in Japan centuries ago. No batons will be used. Instead "Tasuki" (sash) will be executed at the changing zone.

*Interesting*

Source: Wikipedia
As written in Japanese, Ekiden combines the characters for "station" (駅) and "transmit" (伝). This name was coined by the poet Toki Zemmaro (1885–1980), who was head of the Yomiuri Shimbun's Social Affairs Department at the time. The original concept of the race hearkens back to Japan's old Tōkaidō communication and transportation system in which stations were posted at intervals along the road. In the race, each runner on a team runs the distance from one "station" to the next, and then hands off a cloth sash, or tasuki, to the next runner.

It's a relay run in a team of five. Total 15 km..hence, each person runs about 3km only. Sounds easy but..speed will be an issue here and I have not met most of the team members : P

*stress*

Woman

Home connection was down (again..) last night ..it was very late anyway..by the time I settled down in my room.  Tuesdays are always late for me..cos I go for back to back classes in the gym.  The second class ends at 10ish...it would be close to 11 by the time I reached home.  Have a 'light' meal..wash up my dirty gym clothes..it would be midnite liao.  So..the nutty connection didn't bother me much.  I will be disturbed if it is still not up tonight.

What Have I Got Myself Into?

A friend thanked me today.  She said that she clocked 7.5km on a treadmill in her gym today ..almost died but finished it because I told her I completed a 10km run recently. ha ha. Nuts. That's what she said too when I told her we will be doing another run in June.

Really donno what I got myself into?  Heard that the KL Marathon route conditions will be quite challenging since it is an 'international' event.  The full 42km route is definitely of international standards and it is sanctioned by the Malaysian Amateur Athletic Union (MAAU).

Here's what I read from last year's Press Release :

“The route has been designed to appeal to runners of all levels, from beginners to professionals. It will largely be flat terrain with small elevations, particularly around the 4KM mark and also along the 36KM mark (Jalan Damansara stretch) to make it an exciting and challenging run for all.”

“The route of the marathon has been measured according to the competition rules of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). This measurement exercise was recently carried by IAAF certified measurer, Mr. S. Murugesu. The measurement was done using the calibrated bicycle method, which entails a counter attached to a bicycle to obtain an accurate distance of 42.195km.” The calibration ensures that factors such as the measurer’s body weight, cycle air tyre pressure and meter errors are taken into consideration.

:-0

Above the map of this year's 10km run.  Enlarged the map to the max.  Let's see...

From Dataran Merdeka ..passing nearby Stadium Merdeka....to KL Sentral ....Mid Valley (must be the Federal Highway..*panting*)...passing Thean Hou temple..to National Palace...(*pant pant*)...to the Museum. Lake Gardens...*omg*..to National Bank near Pertama area....*faint*....and back to Dataran Merdeka!

That's ...like....the ENTIRE KL city !!!

Let's Enjoy All About Life

My last update was Friday afternoon!
Very rare of me not updating for two days in a row, just didn't have anything interesting to blog about.

As of now..I'm still not sure how I'm gonna go about with this entry.  I was going to write about my journey in Fitness initially but this quote got me so intrigued:

"I asked God for all things so I could enjoy life. He gave me life so I could enjoy all things." Source :quotegarden

I was quite down that the weekend's coming to an end...and soon it will be Monday again..and then Tuesday..bla bla bla.  Very often I wonder..what else is there in Life.  This Quote is like the perfect answer ~ it means..with Life..there are many and much more we can do and enjoy.  Reminds me of why I named this blog "e-life"....I was inspired by another quote that says.."Life is not and Endurance, Life is an Enjoyment"

Yes..let's all make greater efforts to Enjoy All About Life!

Darn..it has gotten so late..I'd better get some sleep.  Had quite an 'action-packed' day.  Went for a short morning jog before heading to the gym for BC.  By the way...I absolutely love the latest release.  Took me a few classes to 'sync' with it.  Went for badminton later in the afternoon.  Many asked how I managed to find the determination to work out diligently.  Answer ~ when there is passion and interest to do something, we no longer need determination :-) I just checked  previous entries -- I declared Bodycombat as a new hobby in Sep 2008 and it still is!  It's been a long journey ..anyway..now I have another hobby..Running .  Haha..wonder how long this will last me.

Also did abit around the house, polished the car, groom the dog.  Wow..no wonder I'm tired.

My Best Friends

I have a new best friend these days.  I won't go anywhere without him and always make sure I have enough with me.  I need him desperately by my side all the time,..especially in public places. Basically.. I will end up in utter embarassment wihout him around.

He is no other than the fisherman's friend :D

I just can't live without it these days, it's a very precious aid when I go into sudden coughing fits especially when I'm in the office or any public area.  When I say Fits..I really mean...FITS.  Scary. Horrible.  Noisy.  Not a good scene at all...strictly not in public.

Just today...I started coughing uncontrollably when I was changing at the gym....so embarrasing!  Took a while for my best friend to 'tame' the cough.  I took another one before the class starts ..to be safe..normally the effect lasts for some time. Not.  I had to leave the class..to cough..right after the first warmup track -.-  In total I popped four pieces of lozenges continuously through out the one hour class..don't want to risk sudden 'attacks' in the middle of a on-going routine :P

My other new friend is Breacol. It seemed to work pretty well...after I took it in the afternoon.  Was at peace for a few hours..so I could work in peace.

It tastes awful though. Very awful.

I...

It's always so much easier to start off a sentence with 'I' especially when blogging but the outcome would seem so repetitive and..uninteresting when every sentence starts with and 'I'.  It's as if..there is nothing to this Life then 'I'.

But..for this entry I'm gonna use as many 'I' as 'I' want to:

I've been tired
I'm tired of being sick
I'm tired of coughing
I have been sick for longer than usual
I need a new pair of lungs
I need a new throat too
I miss tasting food
I miss RPM

Ok..now that I've listed them down...things don't seem so bad after all.
Happy April Fool's Day =)
