Life's little pleasures

Was feeling a little cooped up lately.  Gotta do something different from the usual.

Even breakfast has to be different.

Was also a bit worried to see dad so moody lately.  Decided to go for a little breakaway.
Nothing fancy..just a short road trip out of the city.

What is more crazy than driving 142 km to have lunch :)

and be rewarded by an out of this world cooling glass of rich iced coffee

Was abit worried when dad chose to order from a stall with least customers.

Surprisingly, the beef and spare parts turned out to be mighty good.

If you know me well enough..you will know that I will definitely not just settle for a plate of beeff noodles after driving 142km for 2 hours :-P

The foodie in me snooped around..and identified a busy assam laksa stall nearby with many customers waiting to take away..the aroma from the stall smelled good too.  I'm not a fan of assam laksa..but the looks of bowls and bowls dished out from this stall was too tempting.

Indeed it was quite good.

How I wish I have a bigger stomach.  There's another stall selling yummy Kampar Noodles...with yummy stuffed taufu, etc etc. I was too stuffed to order another dish :-(

Ermm..not exactly.  We were eating again after an hour :D Tea time!

Next..back to nature @ Lata Kinjang

Unfortunately, it was raining.  Didn't stay long. The rocks were so slippery that I slipped an fell twice all because I wanted to get this pic.

All in all..it was a good "day-off".

I call it Life's little pleasures.  Sometimes you don't have to search far for pleasures :-)

I have ten yummy kaya puffs waiting for me \0/

Oh err..Only eight left..cos I've already eaten two in the last 3 hours :D

Exercise Induces Free Radicals?

"free radicals," "oxidative stress" and "antioxidants"....these words were widely used by supplement manufacturers to capture our attention.

Apparently, it has been proven scientifically that...exercise can increase oxygen utilization from 10 to 20 times over your resting state. This greatly increases the generation of "free radicals", which may enhance damage to muscles and other vital tissues (oxidative stress).

It was also said that our body cannot produce the the required micronutrients antioxidants that plays an important role in preventing free radicals damages to the body.

Bla bla bla bla.....I first heard about the above from a friend when I was struggling to recover from a cough and sore throat not too long ago.  I briefly looked up the internet but got a rather strong impression that all these are probably some hype created by nutrition companies i.e. to support their products.

However, I cannot deny that I've been falling sick more often ever since I started indulging regularly in endurance exercises.  In 2010 I've been sick during CNY, end March and almost caught another cold just recently. And I'm still getting those urticaria attacks everyday.  Less serious lately but I still get them everyday.

So..using my GNC birthday previleges I bought THIS:

Costs about RM393 for 175 tablets..that's about RM2 per tablet.

Hmm..so ... was I a sucker? How true is this scientific fact?

Here's an independent article : http://www.delmillers.com/Freeradicals.htm

Excerpts:..

......If free radicals interact with the cell membrane of a stable cell this could lead to the inability of that cell to absorb vital nutrients as well as loss of important cellular enzymes. If these unstable radicals are able to damage the DNA of a cell, this could lead to cancer, arthritis, premature aging, etc.....

.....When there is an abnormal build-up of free radicals in the body, which can be caused by exercise, smoking, stress, environmental pollutants and poor nutritional habits, the body can no longer maintain the free radical/antioxidative equilibrium (antioxidative homeostasis).....

......Oxidative stress is the result of this imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants, in favor of free radicals. It is the collective damage caused to your cells, organs and tissues as a result of excessive free radical activity in the body.....

........Exercise increases the production of free radicals by virtue of an increase in oxygen utilization. Over an extended period of time the disturbed "antioxidative homeostasis" results in diseases and contributes to early aging......

...There is little doubt that antioxidants are a necessary component for good health. However, using antioxidant supplements is an entirely different story. These supplements were once thought to be harmless but increasingly scientists are becoming aware of interactions and potential toxicity.

Hmm..all confused by now?  Me too!

Shall I throw away the tablet..that means burning close to 400 bucks!  This same article went on to suggest the following:

∑ Strengthen the bodies antioxidant system by eating at least 6-9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Impossible for me.

∑ Consider a more balanced approach to exercise if you are a weekend warrior, and pay close attention to your eating habits during the week. I'm alright here..i think.

∑ Consider using a "whole food" supplement like fruit and vegetable capsules. Whole foods not only feed your body with the necessary antioxidants it needs they also provide several other important groups of micronutrients called phytochemicals that actually give vitamins their antioxidant properties. These important plant chemicals are all missing from antioxidant supplements. OK..another product..

∑ Do not over supplement...
noted. I don't take daily anyway.

Unsatisfied..I went on to read a few more independent articles.  Most sent out similar messages.  Spread out your work outs.  Eat lot's of vege and fruits. And don't over supplement.

Hmm..why do I suddenly have a craving for KFC :\

It's been 13 years

Just realised that it was mom's 13th death anniversary few days ago.  Somehow I never remember this day.  Or rather I chose not to remember.  What significance does it make, it's such a sad ocassion.  SY's note on her dad's 1st anniversary triggered  me to 'try' to write this.

oK...what shall I write ..hmmm.

It wasn't just SY's note.  Over the last few weeks I read numerous blogs, notes, etc touching on a similar topic.  It just dawn upon me that I haven't written a similar post in here..after three years.

Geez..it's been 13 long years.  There's really not much to say.

I've moved on..I think.

I hope she's happy..wherever she is now : )

Do I need an Iphone?

I'm in depression. Two of my best friends are away on hols :`( and seeing THIS did not help at all :''(
So in need of something to perk me up :-P

I know I know I'm really behind time. Any tom, dick and harry has an iphone now.
FY had been trying to convince me since N months may be years ago..but I just didn't see the 'excitement'.

Ya..I was that behind!

So..do I really need an Iphone?

I think FY had said enough times that judging from my 'style' and things that I'm into..an Iphone is definitely for me *raised one eye brow*

I asked him the same question yesterday and his reply was : "you blog, tweet, foursquare, fb...iphone's for you!"

But..I wasn't convinced still cos..I can do all those with my current phone..

So, I took a survey : D

Results?
Wait and see. You don’t want to rush in where angels fear to tread, so maybe you should take some time to weigh up your options. You think the iPhone's pretty cool but you have some concerns and should weigh up your options

But.....

Tang Chao @ Digital Mall

Stumbled upon this place called Tang Chao at Digital Mall in Sec 14. PJ.
It's located right at entrance where the Ka Fei Dian used to be.

The menu is extensive for a kopi tiam style cafe.

Based on my brief stop for brunch ...

Food :
Chicken, Egg & Cheese burger : Good, something different but portion is HUGE.  Pork would be nicer :)
Didn't manage to capture the portion of the French Fries..I have not seen so much fries before!

Coffee :
Not as good as Old Taste but can do

Verdict:
Definitely worth stopping by if you happen to be in the area and looking for food. The menu is Extensive! You name it, they have it.  From fried rice to steam rice, to noodles to western to porridge to dessert!  All kinds!

Definitely beat Old Town Coffee hands down. Also noticed their portion of Iced Kopi or Tea etc..are much much bigger than Old Town's.

Definitely worth it for a quick & convenient stop.

Monday Teaser

It was a Friday morning.  Anticipated to be a busy gotta work late day.
He asked if I can meet for movies.
While I felt it's nice to have someone to talk to after a long day..I couldn't commit simply because I had no idea how long my day was gonna be.  He said he will wait for me. Kinda sweet :)

The day went by...in the midst of rushing through work..I was planning for the weekend and thinking of some backup plan to wind down later in the night.  Gotta have something to mark the end of a laborous week and of course the beginning of yet another joyous weekend.

I totally forgot tere was someone waiting :D

Work ended at 10pm.  No one was available to play nor dine not even supper :-(

In this kind of 'situation' family comes to mind.  Ya..family..the entity that will always and forever will be available :-) Called my brother out for supper.  Something we always do when we were younger. Been some time. Very long time.

I totally forgot someone was waiting :-o

While I was making my way to my brother's place..he sms-ed.  "halo"

lol.

Oops.

Gadgets Thrills

Was at Digital mall today ~ "gadget scouting".

Gadget is defines as : a slang for any hardware device, typically small. Synonymous with "gizmo." by pcmag

I don't think I qualify to be a true gadget freak as there are many new cool gadgets out there that I'm not even aware of let alone own.

Smart phones for instance..it's been in high demand for years..and yet I'm still can't work out why exactly I need a smart phone when my current phone is good enough.

Apart from..being cool to have one : )

An iphone especially.  I saw a parking attendant using an iphone..how can I not have one!

I really wonder..do we own gadgets..because we need them or...it's just for the thrill of having one?

The DiGi plan is worth considering.  For only RM106, the Iphone 3GS is yours. And it come with a standard iDiGi88 call+sms+internet usage package (see details here)

The only setback is..there will be a 36 months tie-down to DiGi.

Alternatively

It may be more practical to to get a relatively cheaper smartphone in the likes of the HTCs, hence there's a flexibility in using a preferred service provider.

Ultimately..the big question is still Do I Need a Smartphone?

It's similar to ..do I need this babe :-D

Sigh..meanwhile I will just make do with this lil new toy.

Am not telling what it is.

Pac-Man Nostalgia

Pac-Man is celebrating it's 30th anniversary in style..with Google!

This is pretty awesome!

I discovered it an hour ago when I was about to hit the shower.  I'd usually switch my browser page to Google when I intend to leave it idle for a while.  While I was walking away, I heard some fuuny sounds ..very familiar sounds indeed.

Guess what?

Pac-Man in in the Google page :D  What's more amazing is..it's active.  We can play the game live oon the page!

Just like old times..!

Mind you..it's the full version..you can play up to 256 levels (provided you still have the patience).  I zoomed my screen to 200% and was playing with it a while ago.

Well, it was quite fun.  Happy to be a kid again.  Remember? We used to be so hooked with these kind of games.  Atari. Invader.  Octopus. Parachute.  Pinball.

But..to be honest.. I got bored after 5 mins   : D.  I doubt any of us will have the patiece to sit through 256 levels. Wonder if my 5 year old nephew will have the patience..haha. Kids nowadays are so exposed.  Facebook, Iphone...they have better things to do...unlike us *roll eyes*

Anyway..challenge anyone? Pac-Man will be up on Google for two days only ...who can complete the 256 levels??

Chasing Passion

From QuoteGarden :
Chase down your passion like it's the last bus of the night by Terri Guillemets

Do you have that feeling? WK said she doesn't..and if that means she doesn't have any Passion?

Definition of Passion by Answers.com:
A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger.
Ardent love, Strong sexual desire; lust., The object of such love or desire.
Boundless enthusiasm

Do you have ardent love for someone? something? somewhere?

I believe all of us do..in one way or another.

It can be a mother's love to own children.
Or...one's love to your work. hobby? partner?

Here is a very simple test. The simplest I can find from a site :
Source: Theonequestion : If you had only one wish

1. If you had one wish, what would you wish for?
(Think about this for a minute and make sure you really nail it).

2. But I didn't say your wish was only good for one thing!
What else would you wish for? "I want ____ AND ___."

3. As long as their are no limits on the "AND's" what would you wish for your family, spouse, kids, friends and so on?

4. Hey, as long as you have some spare "AND's" what would you add to your wish for me, your guide?

5. In a restaurant, what would you wish for the waiter?

6. Pick a random person you see right now (someone you don't know) and ask yourself what would you wish for them?

By the time you get to the end of this list - a random person - You can't know what they want or need. All you can do is give them what you are here to give :

Your passion and purpose!

Go through a few days, and make it a practice to pick people out of a crowd and imagine what you'd give to them with your wish. After you've done this for a little while, see what trends you see. This will be at least very close to your purpose/passion.

My results?

1.My one wish - Health and nothing but heatlh, only with Health I can do all that wish to do
2.Second wish - Happiness, long lasting happiness :-)
3. Unlimited wishes - I wish for everyone to have long lasting Health, Happiness ...and Wealth!
4. Spare wishes yo the author - Hmm...wish you succees in driving your passion to us?
5. Wish for the waiter - May he do what he do best as a waiter..and succeed to greater heights in his work
6. Wish for the stranger - I wish you Heallth & Happiness
Hmm...is that all..? My passion in Life?

Happy Friday!

It's been some time

Halo crisis! Long time no see.

I'm one sensitive freak.  I could sense that  a big one is coming since morning.  Tried and done whatever I am capable of.  Still..IT erupted.  Haha..I made it sound so drama.  It is indeed quite drama.  Been some time since I last encounter such 'crisis'.

Oh well...it's one of those things in life.  Makes life more interesting as WK pointed out.  Otherwise ..life would be so bored and dull right?  We don't gain and grow when living a life without adversity.
So..I shall soldier on eh..just like before.  Soon I will look back at this entry and laugh about it.

Dodging And Deflecting, Let It Roll Off Our Back

One of the most difficult challenges in life is learning not to take things to heart and hold on to it. Especially when we’re younger, or if we’re very sensitive, we take so much of what comes our way to heart. This can be overwhelming and unproductive if it throws us off balance on a regular basis. When we are feeling criticized or attacked from all directions, it becomes very difficult for us to recover ourselves so that we can continue to speak and act our truth. This is when we would do well to remember the old saying about letting certain things roll off us, like water off a duck’s back. ......

Ad Sense!

If you have not notice, there are all sorts of adverts in this site.  From Adsense to Nuffnang to Advertlets.  How kiasu ..  It's not that I'm hard up to earn lot's from blog advertising, oh well, since it's here..and it's effortless to include them..why not.  Just as a form of experiment to see if these ads really work earn.

Adsense had been in my blog for more than three years.  I doubt any of you regular readers had ever clicked into any ads. I don't expect you to.  I don't even pay attention to them.  Well..I did click before..accidentally :D  but I'm sure Adsense has ways to detect self-clicks !

As expected, the earnings are painfully slow although I noticed some movement over the last year especially when specific entries started to generate random visitors.  The entries about Latio and Crocs for example were quite popular but I'm not sure how the earnings are caculated based on random visits.

May be these random visitors are more likely to click the ads?
Or..the arrival of these visitors triggered ads of the relevant category to appear?

Anyway..I saw a surprise message today at the Adsense page.  Finally, I will get paid!
hahahah..my first ten USD from Adsense after three years of ... sharing my space with them :D

Apparently I will be getting a card from Adsense with a pin that I will have to key into the site before payment is released.

So..is it worthwhile..?
Well, I did have to 'work' for the ten bucks :D Keep updating that is.  Like now..half the time I donno what I'm writing as I'm extremely sleepy and tired.  Still recovering from yesterday.

Hilarious really.  Why am I excited over Ten USD ?? It's no big deal to most people but thank you :) After all...blogging is a fun hobby for me..I love sharing my thoughts, experiences...and now I get paid so I should be happy right ??

Running with Passion @ The International Ekiden Run 2010

As much as I wanted to knock off early...I only went to bed just before midnite.

The music from my alarm started playing at 4am -.-

I drifted back to sleep...zzzz....in my half awake mind..I was calculating how long more I can afford to stay horizontal in bed..4.15am or even 4.30am should be still ok...(I needed to be in Putrajaya by 6am) as long as I leave the house at quarter past five.

It was 4.51am (!) by the time I garnered enough waking sense to reach out for the time. LOL.

Left the house about 5.20am together with my father who still diligently go for his newspaper daily delivery rounds only to realise that I forgot the car key and feed the dogs and cat. (Don't ask me why he is still working at this age).

He had a concern when he found out that I'm planing to go out at such wee hour to run.."Don't entertain when people ask you for directions, they will kidnap you".  hahah...funny but he has a point..though..it has happened before.

Journey only started at 5.30 and I was slightly late of course despite the clear traffic.

Met my team members at the carpark for the first time. Ya..Ekiden is a team relay fun run and I only met my team members a few hours before flag off.

I've touched on what Ekiden is all about HERE - in case you missed it.

So..it's suppose to be a fun run.  There are five runners in a team.  Each runner runs for 3km before passing over the 'sash' to the next runner. I am in the Mixed Category i.e. at least one participant has to be of opposite gender.  "Running with Passion" that's the tagline for our team.  Gan's gym mate is the 'leader' who put together everything.  I think he put together 4 or 5 teams in total.

Priority is of course to introduce me to the runner before and after me..so that we can recognise each other at the changing zone.  I'm the second runner, hence the Alphabet B.  First runner before me is a 14 year old gal :)  Third runner after me is also female..about same age or younger than me.

Some official photographer took our group photo, don't think we will be able to get hold of the photo though.

Didn't have chance to mingle long as it was soon time for all second runners to board the buses to the changing zone.

Arrived at changing zone around quarter to eight.  The first runners are to be flagged off once all the third runners are transported to the third changing zone.  The race started slightly later than the originally planned 8am.

Logistic wise, race officials will call out numbers to inform the arrival of our team mates and we proceed to the designated zone within the red cones to receive the sash.  We mustn't leave the zone before putting on the sash.

The first of the first runners arrived about 5-10 mins after flag off.  He must be sprinting!

Either the path...for the second runner is a challenging one or it's the weather (it was already very hot and sunny eventhough it was only 8am) , I was panting and seriously out of breath minutes after racing off -.-

Well, the fact that my "best friend" decided to visit two weeks earlier right before race day didn't help too -.-||

Took me about 19 mins to complete the 3km.  Somehow I found it tougher than the previous 10km race.  Very much tougher.  At least two photographers snapped my photo while I was pathetically struggling to finish the race.  Either they were waiting for me to pass out to capture some drama or I looked like a damn good professional runner :D

Conclusion : I'm not looking forward to the coming KL Marathon which is gonna be more than three times the distance under the same weather condition..plus poorer air quality!

Think I'd better stick to cycling and body combating in air conditioned rooms : P

Thomas Cup Fever ~ Shortlived

It was a rather crazy day.  Half of the day's productive hours was spent on the road.  Such a waste but it's alright..it was Friday \o/  Half my mind was on the Thomas Cup ..not that I'm dead crazy about it.  It's just couldn't decide if it is worthwhile to cancel my plans with Jenny  or just go home to watch the game. But it was gonna be M'sia vs. China...quite a big deal.

I sent an early text to J first thing in the morning even before I leave home..just to pre-empt her about ...my thoughts.  I followed up with another mail before I left for a meeting simply saying that..'we can still meet up provided we meet at a place where we can watch the game"  LOL.

I only got back to the office after 3pm.  You've gotta love it when you have a fren like J.  She actually called up a few places to find out if their TV will be on the relevant channels :D We shortlisted either Chilli's or Spaghetti Grill.

Was all ready to leave work around around 6 but was delayed by some unforeseen circumstances.  Left very much later...around half past six and got stuck ....in the spiral car park -.-  and the infamous Federal Highway of course.

While I was battling my way through, J volunteered to scout for a good table at the said places.  Unfortunately both were packed..and guess what..the game started at seven!! ..we thought it was 7.30...!

I was so late..only managed to catch half of the much anticipated LCW vs. LD match.  It wasn't that exciting though...mainly because he lost tamely..and we were seated quite far away from the ...tv.

Can you spot the TV?

It's still tiny, even after maximun zoom..

And there wasn't any sound.

For some reasons, this crowd at Chilli's were not too interested about the game.  Guess what..?   It was actually on TV1 and it made way for the 8pm news after the singles match...and no one bothered to change channel!

Being Researchers..we can't help but to analyse and tried to understand..why and and why would Chilli's choose to tune to TV1 prime time news...of all things???

Ridiculous.

Well..they did continue with the telecast ..AFTER the news.  BUT we had decided not to move to Chilli's eventhough they had many tables by then.  We were at Seed Cafe next to it.  That explains the tiny faraway TV we had to squint to.

So..we moved to Gloria Jeans about two shops away.  Bigger TV.  Better crowd.  Better feel.  Haha..

Unfortunately, our boys didn't play well at all.   It was downhill all the way.  They lost tamely.  Personally, I was not looking forward for them to win..simply because I hate to see all the hype and brags each time they win.  Sigh...it was as good as impossible to beat China..but..we expected a stronger fight.

Oh..one observation that I found totally unacceptable ~ there was at least two times where the camera caught our dear coaches happily smiling and chatting away during the last singles match ..no sign of concern nor support to the poor struggling player.   Comparatively, the opponent's coaches were always on their feet shouting out directions and support eventhought they were leading and on a very sure path to although they were already on a very clear and clean path to victory.  Perhaps that is the missing link in our team ~ p a s s i o n .

How else to Celebrate a Birthday?

Trish's birthday is around the corner.  Almost each year she will request that we do something different other than just coming out to eat and then bye bye.

I can't recall what we did last year.  We did talk about blood donation, doing some charity work, going for a work out..but I don't think we did any. May be we did go for a walk before the lunch.

Speaking of charity, blood donation, etc..we don't have to wait till a Birthday ya? Just do it.

Anyway..here's a little experiment, go to Google..type How to Celebrate a birthday...

you will see these :

Type ..How to Celebrate Birthday...

and you will see the above ..haha.

Nothing insightful..just pulling your leg.

Wait..I did find an interesting page after a few searches..

Source : http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Do-You-Celebrate-Your-Birthday?&id=1238828

How to Celebrate a Birthday:

Eat your favorite food.
It's your day - you deserve it. Even if your favorite foods don't "go together," they do today. Enjoy!

Do a favorite childhood activity.
Maybe it was a board game, or playing tag, or doodling. Whatever it was, do it today!
Do it as a way to reignite your inner child and your creativity. Do it for the pure enjoyment. You will be amazed at how it will make you feel.

Remember your favorite birthday.
If you have a particular birthday that sticks out to you, spend time thinking about it and reveling in those memories.

Laugh out loud.
Do something that makes you laugh with delight! Laughter feels good and is good for you. Perhaps one of the other ideas on this list will make you laugh out loud - if so, great!

Give a gift to someone else.
We all know it feels better to give than receive, so why not give gifts to others on our birthday? Consider starting with your mother - after all she had a more memorable day when you were born than you did!

Give your day away!
You don't have to give a physical gift, you can give your time - to someone you love, to a charity or whatever you wish! Make your day a gift to someone else.

Give yourself the gift of time.
Sometimes our days are so packed with events and tasks that we don't have time for ourselves. Consider giving yourself the gift of time for your own rest and relaxation (or the time to do another item on this list!).

Send yourself a card.
A few days or weeks before your birthday find a card you love, sign it and write yourself a note. Then address and stamp the envelope and ask someone to mail it to you a couple of days before your birthday. This is a great way to guarantee a card, and I promise it will make you smile.

Spend time with someone you love.
This might overlap with a couple of other ideas on the list - but that's OK. What could make for a better day than spending time with those you care about the most?

Make a memory.
Challenge yourself to create memories today that will last a lifetime.

Reflect on the last year.
Your birthday is a milestone, so it can be a great day to review your results and actions of the past year to see how you have done and determine what is working - and what isn't!

Set some new goals.
Today is a perfect day to look forward, to project into the future, to set goals for the next twelve months. If you don't have goals written down, today is a perfect day to create them!

You'll notice this isn't like some lists you read that make you think you should try all of the ideas. It wouldn't be possible to do all of these things in one day. The ideas fall into a focus on your past, present or future - and all of them are about you.

The key is to pick one that feels right to you and add it to your celebration. It is your day after all!

Final Note: While these ideas are written from the perspective of celebrating a birthday, all could be used - though perhaps tweaked slightly - for a team anniversary, company anniversary or other organizational milestone date.

Oh, and one last thing. You don't have to wait for your birthday to do any of these things. You are alive and you can celebrate for that reason using any of these ideas you'd like. You have my permission.

Potential Pointer: We all have a day that is ours - our birthday. Why not celebrate it in a meaningful and fun way? On your next birthday think of the gift you will give yourself, whether connecting to your childhood, celebrating with those you love or making that day the start of an even brighter future!

Yes. I'm learning tai chi.

A young colleague saw this on my dashboard today.

He went ...

"huh...you learning tai chi? no right?"

I said "yes" grinning sheepishly.

He went..

"HA? my father learns taichi wor"

-.-

Since I'm at it..a little update about my "progress"
To be honest I've slacked ..a whole lot lately.
My attendance is down to once a month most of the time from previously three times a week.

But ..I don't intend to stop.  It's such a waste to stop now after investing so much patience building up that little bit of foundation.

Basically, I've  been slacking because of all the distractions from my other new hobbies..from bodycombat to RPM at the gym to this new found hobby called..running.

Comparatively, tai chi is so boring. I admit. No upbeat music.  It's slow. Very slow.  So much theory..and our moves will never be perfect. Never.

However, it has it's goodness and I still enjoy doing it..if I do it properly.  I've missed too many classes that I'm having such a hard time catching up : (

My retirement hobby..it will be :D

Old Taste Ipoh White Coffee @ SS2

Getting bored and tired with non stop 'mushrooming'  of kopitiams everywhere? Not happy with same same type but inconsistent quality of coffee and food served in kopitiams?

Do not be despair.

I found  great place!

Excellent excellent excellent White Coffee (both hot and iced are equally good).  Check out the size of the glass..unlike 'some' other famous outlet.

Someting simple and yet different.  Butter toast with sugar. yumms.

Soft, smooth steam white bread.

The simplest and tastiest Nasi Lemak I've ever had for the longest time.

Peaceful surroundings..not very crowded.  Service is good too.  At the very least..they understand English.  Oh and Jenny says they are good looking : P

Pretty good ambience. Free WiFi available : )

I've been there twice in the last 48 hours :-D

It's located behind Leo Cafe..same row as Prince Cafe.

You Are Family

An old friend asked me about how comfortable I am with Facebook.

I told her that I've been using Facebook for a long time and I'm still very much into it.  Being friends for so long I can sense and know that she may not like the 'open-ness' of it ..not surprising as many people feel the same way too.

So..i suggested to her "Well, you can stop addin friends and change the settings to allow only ME and family to interact with you"

Her answer was .."You Are family"

That's one of the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me :-)

Facebook - 3 years later

It's been about three years since I started a Facebook account.  It started with a few of us..wondering what and how is it such a craze?  Now..it is not just a craze...it is...a phenomenon.  Oh may be not..every tom, dick and harry has a Facebook account.  It has become like a Hotmail account back to 10 years ago.

So who doesn't have a Facebook account? My dad doesn't but that's just because he is not IT nor English  literate.  I know of many friends whose parents or may be even grand parents have a Facebook account.  A couple of my aunts and uncles are connected with us on Facebook.  They are not very active though.  Kids as young as four or five may also be using Facebook.  My five year old nephew has had his hand on facebook tending to his mom's farm's and cafes.  He even attempted to write on his Yee Ruth's wall..but of course it took him ages to type one sentence ..lol.

So..what do we do on Facebook nowadays?  It differs.  There are so many characters amongst Facebook users..even if it's just amongst my own less than 200 friends.

..some are totally invincible..no comments, no updates but when I meet them in-person they seem to know about everyone's update and posting in FB

..some are like me, pretty much made our presence felt on a daily basis..so..if I don't update for more than two days..please check on me..I may be dead or or half dead ...lol.

..there is also the secretive bucnh. There are hardly anything to see in their profile. Some even hid their wall..I've deleted quite a few of these.  Why bother adding me when I can't even see your wall? Good Bye.

..some are purely Gamers.  Their updates are nothing but games updates. No photos. No greetings.  I'm very tempted to delete some of these too from my network : P

And..the list goes on.

It's been three years.  There are no more excitement.  I don't play games anymore.  I don't add applications unless it's really necessary.  I've also been selective about joining groups and fan pages but I must admit some fan pages are quite informative and up to date.

Don't think my friends list will grow much as most old friends are already reconnected unless I meet new people.  The school group that I created back then has 469 members to date! Not too bad at all for a closed group.

Basically, it has evolved, for me at least.  I have a habit to log on everyday..update if I have things to say..just like saying Hi to and old friend,..who will of course help me broadcast to everyone out there. At times..friends will react with some witty comments..at times..a long long thread will be generated.. .. fun? It's just a nice..alternative way of interaction.  So much better than the traditional..of tele[hone call ..and then not knowing what else to say.  Don't you think so?

Oh I also post and keep selective images and pics..that are worth sharing and keeping.  Rather than keeping them hidden in an external hard disk..why not share it out..doesn't matter if no one looks at them..I enjoy having them in an open space..where I can click in to view and remember happy moments.

I can go on and on actually.  But I won't bore you la.  As you may know..I'm quite a internet junkie who also tweet regularly.  But it's all under control.  I don't tweet 20 times a day,.and I am careful that I don't flood my FB page with silly tweets and blog postings from here.  Don't want to irritate my dear FB friends and end up being hidden or deleted.  That reminds me of some rather strange individuals....who post updates and photos that most of us do not understand.  I chose to just ignore.  A friend of mine said she has hiddem updates from these people.  How nasty ..lol.  I hope I am still in her news feed !

By the way..I'm exploring foursquare and tumblr : ) Will talk about them soon.
