Foodie Trail in Jogja

I wonder if I'm boring you guys with too many Jogja related posts :D
No choice lor..there's just so much to share..I had to do it bit by bit.
Bear with me ya.

Ok...Food!
Overall..typical Jogja food are not to my taste, except for a few that I absolutely love and don't mind having again.  Unfortunately...none are available in Msia.

What's even more strange is that those that I loved ..aren't widely available in Jogja itself .

This ROTI BAKAR is my alltime favourite.
Available only at One stall at night nearby the Borobudur area but none found in Malioboro, the city centre.
Many variants available from Cheese to Chocolate to Banana, etc etc etc

Very skillfully prepared too. Cheeseeeeeee...

Yummmm................

I didn't manage to get the name of this.

It's similar to our peanut pancake...but these come in many variants:
Burger, Corn Pizza, Cheese, Chocolate, Banana, etc etc etc..

We stumbled upon the stall while searching for food in Malioboro.
We only saw one such stall in our two days wandering along the streets.

Beautiful presentation and delicious too.

Look at these.  How can one possibly resist?

Out of the hundreds of food stalls operating at night along Malioboro, only this stall caught our my eyes.
No idea what are these called..the filling should be made from gula melaka.  Very very very good.

This same stall also have other goodies.

Avocado Juice is like a staple drink here. An Avocado Float like this one costs less than RM10!
Taste - very original and nice!

Other types of  'not to bad' food  that we had were :

Special Murtabak is not too bad too. Something different from home.

Should be a popular food..since Kraft Cheddar's packaging specifically highlights it!

CFC (not KFC)!  haha.
Chicken's not too bad at all..really.

Indomie Goreng....we found out later that they used Mie Sedap instead.  Whatever happened to Indomie?  Cost cutting measure or Mie Sedap is now a better choice..we don't know.

Oh boy..this post is getting longer than expected. tsk tsk tsk..
We actually didn't have that much food.  It's not meant to be a food trip anyway.
But..check out the F&B collage :D

Let me explain....we had to search fairly hard for all the above cos we were not brave enough to try truly local food like this:

or this:

Other local stuff that we tried...

Local coffee ~ guess I don't have to say anything, see for yourself ;

Soto ayam ~ not too bad...but not my type of food tho.

This was on the table..suppose to go with the soto ayam ..we guessed..but we dare not touch :-P

Typical menu in Jogja

Home sweet home home..the sight of Cantonese food is so welcoming back home :D
