It's all slowly coming back

..how's you leg?
..getting better

The above happens on and off for the past few weeks cos I made such a big hoo haa about not being able to do things that I like doing due to some injuries I picked up after the SCKLM.

If it is of interest to you, the doc that I was seeing convincingly concluded that it's 'only' over use of muscles and the injuries are 'not serious'. "Not serious' and it's taking ages to recover..I wonder what is classified as 'serious'?  My heart goes out to those professional athletes with serious injuries..no wonder some never make it back to top form :s

Yea..it's been better for me.  Not perfect but better.  I attended a full BC class today \o/ I've been skipping the middle part (track #4), the part with most front kicks.  It wasn't complete and quite a spoiler to miss the middle part of a work out but it's better than not being able to do anything :)

I've been running very short distance too..about 20 mins ..like 2 times in the past two weeks :D  I have to run a half marathon in less that 12 weeks and that's all I've been doing!  LOL...


Anyway, today, I felt that I was in the best form I ever felt in weeks.  My legs felt stronger, more agile and knee lifts were very much less painful.  Front kicks are still painful..though.  And it still hurts when I stretch the groin muscles.

I happily told Gan that "I can kick better" today :D She went : "where are your priorities? You want to kick better or run better?"   Hmm...


Anyway, for the first time in weeks..I feel confident that I will recover.  Today's badminton was also much much better than last week \o/  Played seven games without needing rest ..good good.


My only worry now is that the muscles are not strong enough to endure the Newton Run in end September and I will end up in the same condition again -.-

I'm suppose to do strengthening exercises..........

The Junior arrived..

What a day..

Didn't have to work today cos it's a public holiday for Selangor..and my office happened to be situated in this state :D  Slept till 11am ..heh heh.

Had late breakfast, then late lunch...then got to know that my 3rd nephew is ready to come to this world.  That means either me or sis will have to babysit Danial..for the night.  By the time I got home it was closed to 5pm.  It was drizzling then.  I went for a short jog at the park when the rain stopped....sis arrived with Danial and the dog short while later but it started to rain again.  Dang..ruined our plan to have a good time with the dog. Anyhow..we still sat around for quite some time..then rushed Danial back home for him to shower, dinner, then i rushed myself home to shower and dinner...before rushing ourselves to the hospital to see the 'new arrival'

The Junior arrived ..weighing 3.38kg.  Very beautiful baby : )  The numbers would have been nicer if he hadarrived on the 28th..but he is just being too kind and considerate. Decided to arrive on a beginning of a long weekend so that it's easier for us to make arrangements when we are not at work.  Awwww..such a considerate young man when he is only less than a day old.

Danial is in my sister's room watching TV.  He is too hyper to fall asleep ..so are we.


I have an early breakfast meet with the gals at 09:30 hrs in Imbi ...h e l p.

Oh oh,,I even used the wrong word..it's DESCRIBE not DISCUSS !  Sigh~


Anyway...that was me..when I was fifteen.  So sweet.


Now....no way you will find me doing these things.  Even wrapping a present is a painful task.  Remembering to wish one on the exact day is an achievement.


I must have left behind that creativity and caring part of me ...left it somewhere...far behind.

Does that mean I'm less of a friend now?

Watercress Soup - something different...I'd still prefer watercress..the Chinese clear soup style

Tandoori Chicken with Pita Bread - I was expecting the normal whole piece of chicken tandoori with Naan.  Was a bit disappointed to see the out-come..looked dry and unappetising..but the taste turned out quite good. Light and yet tasty.

I prefer Older Men

Ok..here's the story.
I was with Felicia Friday night....in no time we covered all important news catch up...and soon hot gossips were also covered.  Then, we started to get on each other's nerves and were beginning to be sick of each other's face ...in order to save the friendship...a movie is the best solution :D

There were a few good movies to choose from...I must say we had a petty good set to choose from..but..you know..matured aging women are hard to please~

Inception ? No..cos I don't like Leonardo ..somehow I never liked him since Titanic days.

Sorcerer's Apprentice?....Felicia says she doesn't like Wizard..magical stuff

Chinese...Felicia wanted Chinese..we'd normally go for chinese when wanted something light..and relaxing..but the I didn't like that whatever Chinese movie available..can't even remember the name.

Salt...yes..yes..sounds good.

Erm..actually Inception had very good reviews....may be we should go for it..although it may be a bit heavy...simple minded people like me may not understand the flow ~



So..it was between Inception and Salt...UNTIL I saw this :

I'm quite a sucker for action movies..I thought so...but I think Felicia will point out that..I was all goo goo gaa gaa  over Jet Li...but when I look at the poster now..he looks so small la.

So..that's how we ended up watching The Expendables.

How was it?

Well...


These Guys are really Old. as in really Old lor.

Other than that..I don't have much to say about the movie.  Jet Li's role was quite minor.  And the fight scenes were not that great..not much real fighting scenes but lots of action in terms of explosions and killing...satisfaction guaranteed if you like..the old style ka boom ka baam ..neck breaking and throat slitting knd of killing .

How often do you see..Dolph Ludgren fighting Jet Li?
Almost never.


Other than that...I'm still wondering why on earth I chose watching Stallone over Leonardo or Angelina Jolie?

Is there Hope?

At my bro's house now. Home connection is down again.  It's been happening on and off..about once in 2-3 weeks.  I've gotten tired of complaining.  The last few times when it happened, I was still able to log on by 'riding on' some unsecured connection in the neighbourhood :)  but couldn't detect it today :(

I've also been a pro at calling the call centre to report about the problem.  I think they are also quite ashamed when I asked them to look back into my long list of previous reports.

I've gotten very tired of repeating the same story over and over again..hecne, I'd always start by referring to the previous report(s) and tell them very sternly that "IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN FOR THE Nth TIME"

A smart agent will quickly skip the normal procedures and create another report to send a technician to the the necessary.  A not so smart agent will insist on asking the standard questions that they were trained to ask..some even insisted that I go through the standard trouble shooting procedures again...and this will normally blow my top.

Anyway, I've given up asking why ..all I want is the connection to be back up again....soonest possible.  But today's agent was quite diligent ...gave me some hope when he noticed immediately that my problem had been recurring for so long and said that "he will refer my case to the second level"

Received a call from the 'second level' a few hours later ..it went something like this:


'second level' : helo..I'm xx calling from xxx.  May I speak to..xxx
Me : Yes..speaking
 'second level' : this is regarding your faulty internet connection....are you able to connect now?
Me : No..


'second level' : ok.....(she tried to say something...which I couldn't quite understand.)

By this point, I knew the conversion is heading no where..but I decided to try my luck)

ME : Ok..but do you have any idea WHY this is happening so often? Can you refer to previous reports to understand more?

'second level' : oh..ok..I can see your previous reports...the last time was due to a cable fault..

ME : Yes..but why so often..at least two times in a month..

'second level' : ermm...why so often..ermm..ok..I will refer to your case for the technician ..

ME : how long will this tak..?

(I know the standard answer..just testing her)

'second level' : we will need around 48 to 72 hours..


I hung up.

Second level my foot. The quality of response I get from 'second level' is not different from the normal '1st level agents' that I normally speak to.  In fact the one that I attended to me earlier in the day was far more responsive.  At the very least he showed some understanding and empathy.  That's all we need...we don't expect miracles..or immediate solution...show some empathy,..instead of giving us robotic standard questions and procedures.

I love jogging here in the evenings ..





Seasoned or serious runners will probably opt for more challenging routes, well..I could have taken the outer route that covers a longer distance..but most of the time..I prefer to hang around the lake with everyone else.



I went for a jog today..yesterday I mean ..it's past midnight.  I hadn't run since completing the last 12.3km run on July 31st night.  Twenty days!  How fast time flies...

Gotta slowly get back into shape..before the next run in Sep 26th.  And soon..it will be November..I'm really worried about the 21km. Yikes...what was I thinking!

Well well..will just take it easy.  Cannot run..walk lor.

Just like today..only jogged very slowly for a 20 mins.  Stopped when I felt the muscles tightening up again.

This park is really nice in the evenings.

Day 6 : Walked Phoebe Dog

I was a good girl today.  Managed to stay away from the gym..cos I purposely didn't want to bring the gym bag with me.  Decided not to risk aggravating the healing muscles.

I've been wanting to take Phoebe for a walk for a few days, have not taken her out for a long long time..ever since I started going to gym actively :P

Such a terrible owner I am.  Only thought of her now..when I am not able to go to the gym.

..but it had been raining every day.

It didn't rain today. Hooray.

Day 4 : I cheated

I couldn't take it anymore..I needed a work out ...badly. My body was stiff and I felt like I was going to fall ill.      I'd more or less decided to go for a body balance class even though ....I should consult the doc first..since I had an appointment anyway. I think he said ..'yes...I can go back to the gym' ... or did I make it up?  lol.

by the way..I didn't like what the doc said today :(  He said that..I may need to shave some weight off my legs..to lower the risk of running injuries.  In other words..he meant that I have elephant legs...too heavy... hence over working the muscles when I run. wth.

Anyway.. I cheated today. Well..to be fair..the doctor didn't say that I can return to normal activities..he only said that..swimming is fine..cycling is fine but not rpm, yoga is ok as long as I can do back exercises without pain, slow short distance run is ok too.


So..I was at the gym lo.  Did Body Balance...second time after trying out many years ago.  Not too straining on the affected muscles..but some of the moves are quite challenging challenging indeed.  Good stretch for the body.

And.

The regular combat class that I attend religiously was right after the body balance class. Too inviting..I couldn't resist!  Decided to skip the track with most kicks though...too risky and I don't think I can do front kicks yet.

Will see how I feel in the morning....

Grounded : Day 3

It's easier for me get through each day when there is something to look forward to do at the end day like a shopping trip, dinner with friends for example.  While I can't have those so often...going for my favourite gym classes for endorphin dosages keeps me going...without fail.

Since..I can't do so for now ..I'd to crack my head finding some other interesting things to do.

Original plan for the day was to take Danial and the dogs out to the park.
but.  it RAINED.

One other person was happy though ~ my dad.  He finished the remaining quarter chips for me.  Oh,..I think the cat was happy too..she likes Chips too -.-

Grounded

I'm grounded.
The doc finally said it...

1st visit : when I was worried if I should go for the Shape run..he helped to make me feel as comfortable as possible for the Shape run.

2nd visit : when the aches didn't go away and back felt uncomfortable...was told to stop badminton for a while and take it easy with gym classes

3rd visit : Inner thigh and groin injuries taking too long to heal.. couple with a back pain..getting a bit complicated to treat......laying-off from all exercises for at least a week

It's a sensible move..if I wanna be 100% well again for the coming runs..especially the PBIM.


On some medication for muscle relaxation and inflammation ..seems a bit too strong for my stomach..slight gastric now.

Sigh..I will be so bored and today is only Day 1.  Retail therapy-ed today =) Will share in next post.

The only exercise that I can do is 'walk in the pool'

Sunday Sweets

Here's something light for a beautiful Sunday..

I was at Coffee Ritual with Jas a few days ago...I like the latte here..I thought they can be better than Starbucks'...I still think so.

I wasn't in a mood to take food pics that day..until the coffee and dessert arrived.

So..Jas and I ended up fooling around taking so many shots ...


We couldn't decide...you see....whether shots from the top are better or is it better to shoot at eye level ?

Finally.



Phew..they are finally here.

It must have been like a year ago..I announced that I paid deposit for these :D






W.I.P.

Kian Classic HQ distributed the work to three teams.  The team above is the youngest and has about 5 persons..working on the kitchen cabinets alone.  They worked very fast and well as a team.  Done and left by lunch time. 









Work top will be done by another person who came to take the sink and measurements, it will be ready in 1-2 weeks time.








The second team has two persons..both aged around 40s to 50s.  They are in charged of the TV panel and Master bedroom wardrobe.









Master bedroom done up slightly after lunch time.  Quite efficient..no lunch break..they pre-packed their lunch, ate quickly and continued with work.

Wardrobes in the other two rooms are done by a "one man show"  ..and he is the oldest amongst them all.  He worked till 8pm to finish the two wardrobes.  



He told me that he can't afford to hire another worker cos in-coming jobs are not consistent.  He doesn't get jobs everyday.









So....which team is the smartest? The young fellas who came in a group.finish early..and off to enjoy the rest of the day or this poor old man who has to do everything by himself?



As for me...this was my workout of the day..

5 seconds crime

My blogging had slowed down a bit lately....been running out of things to ramble.  Guess it's a good thing..less crap..more substance? Today, I missed the gym class that I normally go to on Thursday ..something came up at work.  Ok about it though..someone up there knows that my sore muscles need more rest ..but guess what..the unexpected happened..I strained the muscles again while doing tai chi ..lol.  Sigh...it's taking too long...I'm getting  frustrated.

Anyway...rewind to before that..when I was driving home.  Traffic was heavy this evening..for whatever reasons.   Was day dreaming while blasting my music..while queueing behind about three other cars at the traffic lights along Jalan Dato Abu Bakar.  All of a sudden I saw this motorcycle stopping next to a 4WD in front of me..smashed the passenger window, reached & grab the bag and sped off.  All over in five seconds.

No one reacted..the 4WD driver..didn't come out of the car.  Nor did other drivers in other vehicles nearby...me inclusive.  I wonder if anyone else saw the incident.  The lights only turned green after like 5 minutes..but everyone..including the 4WD driver..remained in the car.  Strange right?

Well..I did have some reaction...I lower down the music volume..and then wound down the window.

Lost & Found

Was miserable when I lost them..not so much because of losing them..but more because it just went missing..and I couldn't figure out how and where I lost them!





Had to use this miserably lonely ..spare key. No key chain..just a key.  





Today was miserable and puzzling day...trying to figure out if I'd really dropped them.  
Those were my favourite key chains.  They are very special to me...won't be able to get them anywhere.

12.3km done


So....

I've been wondering...what is there to talk about here.  Yet..another run completed =)  Think I've been harping on this quite a bit..so it ain't much news to you.

I don't have a medal to show cos only the first seventy five runners gets a medal.  Didn't even dare to dream of getting a medal, I'd be lucky I didn't have to come back in an ambulance or the sweeper bus. A sweeper bus is a vehicle used to pick up runners who took too long to complete the race ..normally used in full marathons.  Heard that there will be sweeper buses in the PBIM cos they can't afford to wait for late arrivals as there is a time limit to re-open the bridge. Yikes..


Overall..it wasn't that bad after all. I mean, despite the additional 2.3km..and the additional discomfort and pain from the injuries...it really wasn't that bad after all.  Really.  

Well..it was pain pain pain as far as I could remember from as as soon as 10 mins into the race.  Half way through..I wasn't sure if I can complete the entire race..but with lot's of stubbornness and a little bit of determination..I soldiered on.  Lot's of deep heat cream from the SJAM helped too.  

I also found out that pain is contagious..it spread from one bad leg to another good leg!




At some point I told myself to forget about timing.  Just enjoy the journey and most importantly..don't worsen the injuries.

So..I took my time strolling a bit..and took some pictures.

The atmosphere was real good when I got to this particular bridge. It was windy and the mp3 song playing then was just right.




So..I strolled on.  Ran when I can ..stop when the pain returns..so on so forth.  There's this young chap with knee guard on and was hobbling all the way..but full of determination...so..there was no reason for me to quit.

That's about it lor.  Nevertheles, I must say..despite the injuries..I do think..12,3km..ain't much different from 10km ..hehe...


Am I ready for more?

Oh..the legs are doing just fine.  In fact I was in much much more pain after SCKLM.
Good sign ...
