  1. Here's more info from Celcom office when you seek further information. You will have to pay RM100 registration fee plus RM10 stamp duty. And then you will also have to pay either RM68 or RM98 depending on which broadband package that you are subscribing to. In any case, you will still receive a free USB modem.

The bad thing is that this Celcom free USB modem is SIM locked which means that it only works with Celcom data SIM card and nothing else. Also, although it is stated that there is no contract, if you were to terminate your broadband subscription with Celcom, you will have to return the “free” USB modem to Celcom and if they say that there is something wrong with the USB modem somehow, you will have to pay RM150 penalty!

I think that it is not worth subscribing for me. Maybe it is for you.

  3. Try checking if TM still offering the “Home, Hop & Away” package is a combination of Streamyx 1.0Mbps (free ADSL modem) + Celcom Broadband Basic (up to 384kbps). Last promotion price is RM108 per month, which RM48 cheaper than subscribing the 2 services separately.

Package sign up can be done at any Celcom branch or TMPoint in Malaysia. The package is open for existing Streamyx/Celcom subscribers too.
