Rather Adveturous Weekend

I had a rather adventruorus weekend. Spent a night at this peculiar place called 'Sekeping Serendah' - directly translated as 'A piece of Serendah'. Serendah is a suburban town near Rawang, Selangor. And Rawang is about 30-40 mins drive from Kepong, KL. Was back home by 3ish on Sunday. I went out to do some banking and dinner with my father at night. Realised something not right my car alarm system but..since I could start the car..I went ahead.
As if my weekend wasn't eventful enough...the remote control couldn't unlock the car after I came out from the bank. And it was raining. I used the key to open the car but of course it refuse to start ...cars nowadays equipped with smart alarm system ma. I tried to dis-arm the alarm as per instruction in the manual..but failed. Finally, had to call AAM for help. The mechanic was here within 15 mins..and managed to start my car and reassured me that I can go for dinner still...just don't use the remote and get it checked out the next day. By then I was wet all over.. Nevertheless..I went ahead with Dinner at D'sara Uptown Hokien Mee...very nicde...but very very oily.
Guess what...my car refused to start again after dinner. The alarm activated itself. So smart ah. While waiting for AAM to come again...I managed to dis-arm it myself. This time the mechanic didn' turn up so fast. I called the AAM centre almost 20 times but the line was perpetually busy. I left the 'scene' after 30 mins.
This morning the alarm is armed again. Luckily the spare remote works. But I think I will still get it checked out.

Ok..looks like I have no time to write about Sekeping Serendah. See pictures below la..self explanatory...
Entrance to Sekeping Serendah..like no money to make proper signboard.

Road leading to the resort...before and after entering the main entrance.

This is our 'nest' for the night.
Equipped with mosquito netting and 'dressing table'. And beds of course.

Sink & toilet...natural setup
Bathroom!

TO be continued...
p/s: my car is acting up again..gotta rush off to the workshop..it is now 3.45pm. Was stucked in the car for an hour after lch.

Letter from YB

This is a letter I received yesterday from a YB. YB = Yang Berhormat (i.e. The Honourable)...a respectful term used to address Members of Parliment (a.k.a. MP) in Malaysia. In addition, "Yang Berhormat" is also used for recipients of the First Class Order of the Crown of Johor (S.P.M.J.) regardless whether he is a Member of Parliament or not.

Well..it's only a cc copy to me :D It's copied to me because I wrote an email to the YB complaining about the terrible road condition in my area. The letter above is addressed to the Works Dept. phrased in an exceptionally polite manner asking them to quickly get the problem fixed because a residents are complaining!

Bodoh

So silly of me! This morning, I received the mysterious call again. True enough - it does say Press '9' for enquiry. Out of curiosity, I pressed '9' . The call got transfered to a call waiting mode. After a few seconds a lady answered in fluent Mandarin. The background sounds rather noisy/ busy. She said something like .."this is the high court" ... something like that la. I was stoned for a while, didn't know how to react. Then I hung up!

As Mag rightly pointed out - I should have demanded to speak in English. Demand for her name & ic and record the conversation!

So BODOH of me!

Mysterious Phone Calls - Mystery Solved

On May 21st, I wrote about 2 mysterious phone calls that I received recently. This forwarded email solves the mystery:

Dear family members and friends,

I am writing this e-mail to warn all of you. This is what happen to me on 18th may 2007 at 10.00am. The phone rang and i answer, a voice message stated that the call is from the
Malaysian High Court mentioning that i have a case to attend at the KL High Court.

Rather curious of what sort of case i have, so i press 9 to talk to the operator.

The operator speaks very 'slow english' if you know what i mean.
She insist that i must give her my name and ic no. in order for her to check what sort of case i have. I hold on for a few seconds and she ask me if that is really my ic no.
I confirmed and she also confirmed that i have a case to attend. She says that she
will faxed the doucument over to Bukit Aman Police station and the officer will call me in 3 munites. So i hung up, through enough i received the call less than 2 minutes. He announced himself as Yeoh Long Wah from Bukit Aman police station.

He ask me a lot of questions and say the criminal have use my ic detail to open bank account in Maybank and Public Bank in Negeri Sembilan. He then ask me whether i have a bank account in Maybank and Public Bank.

I told him that i have a Public Bank a/c. He says that i have to answer his questions honestly so that hecan help me with my case. The questions he ask like have you lost yr ic before, did you hand over yr ic to anybody for documentaion and how much money u have in yr a/c

I told him i cannot reveal the amount in my account and that i will meet him in Bukit Aman police station. He says fine and meet him before 4pm and gave me the phone no 03-77826222.
I rang my lawyer and ask for advise. She ask me to fix the appointment with the so call police on
Sat or Monday since today is Friday and mosque day. I called the the no 77826222 and the police answer telling me that this is not Bukit Aman police station but police station in Old Klang Road. I told the police the problem and he told me to lodge a police report in Subang Jaya
police station because they have been receiving a lot of these calls from people. I went to Public Bank to freeze all my a/c for the time being.

I am sharing all these with you so that you will not go through the trauma i went through

From: Kam Yuen Chan

Well, thankfully I couldn't understand the voice recorded message. Even if I do..I doubt I will fall into the trap kua. Where do these people come from...doing these sort of things!

As Tracy rightly pointed out - "hwah, some more talk in Mandarin, where did all these crooks come from hah? It's now 'Mow fatt mow tin', hor !"

Can't Donate

As mentioned before, I have intentions to make more donations for tax exemption purposes. Well, instead of getting taxed I might as well donate out lor. I've been thinking for a while which organisation I should donate to. I was approached a few times by recruiters from WWF & NKF to sign up their direct debit programme but I was reluctant to do so mainly because I am doubtful about how much money actually goes to the organisation since they are using these 3rd party recruiters.

I surfed the WWF & NKF sites yesterday to find out how else I can donate directly without going through any 3rd party. At NKF, I can either go through Maybank2u, sign up for regular direct debit or pay one off by cheque/drat/etc.

As I am a new user of Maybank2u - I still find the site silly and unfriendly - no idea how to go about doing it. Direct debit is out because it clearly says that it is managed by a 3rd party but doesn't say what proportion of our donation goes to them! Alternatively, to pay one off...I had to print out a FORM, fill it up and fax over manually...what incovenience!

I turn to WWF next. The sites looks much better maintained. The donation page seems friendly too. NO sign of 3rd party intervention. I can fill in my details. Choose if I want to sign up for regular direct debit or one-off donation, choose payment method and SEND. Sounds simple right!

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I tried 5 times! And the stupid page just refused to load. I gave up. I hjope they won't charge me 5 times though!

Mysterious Phone Call

Just a moment ago, I received the same mysterious phone call again. Last week I received the same phone call on my house phone. Today, the same phone call reached me on the office line.

What is it about - I DON'T KNOW!

Because the entire conversation is a recorded message and it's in Mandarin! It repeats the same message for 2-3 times and stopped.

As I am a banana, I couldn't undertand 99% of the message. Here are some key words that I managed to catch:

  • malaya
  • fa teng - which i thk it means court
  • liang tien pan - 2.30 o'clock
  • er shi yit hao - on the 21st

That's about it I can remember or rather catch. Sounds like there's some hearing going on on the 21st at 2.30pm today and am invited to attend?

Kind of strange..has any of you receive such phone calls?

20-20-20 (Source: Forwarded Email)

Take care of your "delicate" eyes.
This info' is sure to help PC users very much.

During a recent visit to an optician, one of my friends was told of an Exercise for the eyes by a specialist doctor in the US that he termed as "20-20-20" .

It is apt for all of us, who spend long hours at our desks, looking at the computer screen.

Step I :-After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn yourHead and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. ThisChanges the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.

Step II :-Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for theentire body.

They saythat your eyes arer mirror of your soul, so do take care of them, they are priceless................

P/S: who says they are priceless...my new vision cost me 6k!

Black out

I blacked out for the first time in my life yesterday.

Was doing some weight training, after finishing the 2nd set (20 repetition per set) I felt nauseous and my heartbeat was really fast. Before that I had 25 mins on the treadmill which is a normal warm up session. Assuming that it was a normal reaction I forced myself to complete the 3rd set. After that I felt really unwell. I told my trainer that I felt quite dizzy and I sat down for a while hoping that the lousy feeling will go away. My trainer took my pulse rate and was trying to find out if I didn't have enough sleep the night before. I was too sick to answer him. Later on..I suggested that may be we should call off the session and he agreed.

The moment I stood up, I completely lost my balance & vision. I could not see anything! I managed to grab something to hold on to and I could hear the trainer asking me to sit down. I couldn't see anything and I felt as if I was floating in the air --- I dare not even move!

Thank goodness my trainer was there. He guided me to sit down in one of the machines and lifted my legs up. The moment he did that, it's magical. I could slowly see light again! And the dizziness slowly settled.

Wow! That was scary man.

Why did it happen ler?

Since I felt much better then, I told him that I actually skipped lunch - took only a pau. On the way to the gym, I took 2 Gardenia Twiggies (sugar) & a can of Milo (more sugar) to fill me up. He shool his head & concluded that I can't work out without enough carbohydrate. How I know..I thought the pau is carbo filled ma. And Twiggies & Milo also got sugar & carbo.

He told me to go get a sandwich before driving home. I went with clk to have Naan and Tandoori Chicken instead. After that proceed to have proper rice dinner with vege & fish. That should be enough to tune my system back kua :D

Through a Rapist's Eyes

A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on whatthey look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1)The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle.Theyare most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or otherhairstyle that can easily be grabbed .They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2) The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for womenwho's clothing is easy to remove quickly. ?Many of them carry scissors around specifically to cut clothing.

3) They also look for women who are on their cell phone, searching through theirpurse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard andcan be easily overpowered.

4) Men are most likely to attack & rape in the early morning, between5:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

5) The number one place women are abducted from/attacked is grocery storeparking lots. Number two is office parking lots/garages.? Number three is public restrooms.

6) The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman andquickly move her to another location where they don't have to worry aboutgetting caught.

7) Only 2% said they carried weapons because rape carries a 3-5 year sentence but rape with a weapon is 15-20 years.

8) If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged becauseit only takes a minute or two for them to realize thatg oing after youisn't worth it because it will be time-consuming

9) These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, orother similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guysyou're not worth it.

10) Several defense mechanisms he taught us are: If someone is followingbehind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what timeis it, or make general small talk: "I can't believe it is so cold outhere", "we're in for a bad winter." Now you've seen their face and could identify them in a line-up; you lose appeal as a target.

11)If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of youand yell STOP or STAY BACK !Most of the rapists this man talked to saidthey'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not beafraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

12) If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yell I HAVE PEPPER Spray andholding it out will be a deterrent.

13) If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can byoutsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm(between the elbow and armpit) OR in theupper inner thigh VERY VERY HARD. One woman in a class this guy taughttold him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out musclestrands - the guy needed stitches.Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; ithurts.

14) After the initial hit, always GO for the GROIN. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it isextremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and make himwant to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause a lot of trouble. Start causingtrouble, and he's out of there.

15)When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers andbend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

16) Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any oddbehavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts!!!You may feel a little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble

Wednesday, 16 May - Happy Teachers Day!

It started raining at 4.30am this morning. It was still drizzling when I was on the road a while ago at 10am. Ya..that's a bit late. Let me explain why I was late for work. My bro called me while I was about to leave home to tell me about the major traffic congestions in LDP due to an overturned lorry. That leaves us with the other alternative via Hartamas which is not any better. I informed sis who was about to head to Cyberjaya - left her wondering how else to go to Cyberjaya if the lDP is not accessible! With that piece of news I decided to delay my journey...hence, I went to have Nasi Lemak :D. Why stress myself up right? After that, I bought a pau for lunch so that I don't have to waste time going out again. While having my Nasi Lemak I called to check on Jenny who also uses the LDP - at 9.30am she was still stuck within her housing area. I told her to go back up to her apartment and take a nap :D

Ok..that's about the cranky weather and it's effect on KL traffic on a busy morning.

Today is Teachers' Day. I would like to take this opportunity to wish and thank all my teachers who had taught me in my previous life in SRK Convent Sentul, SM Convent Sentul, SM Tinggi Setapak & HELP Institute.

Special thanks to the following teachers whom I remember significantly for some reasons:

  • Ms Catherine Ooi - Class Teacher, SRK Convent Sentul
  • Mrs KL Chan - Chemistry, SMK Convent Sentul
  • Mrs KW Chan - Physics, SMK Convent Sentul
  • Pn Norhayati - Biology, SMK Convent Sentul
  • Pn Sri Herbert (Ms Colin David) - Add Maths, SMK Convent Sentul
  • Datin Gan - Geography, SMK Convent Sentul
  • Mrs Loke - SMK Convent Sentul
  • Mr Ch'ng - Economics & Accounts, SM Tinggi Setapak
  • Mr Yeoh - Pure Maths, SM Tinggi Setapak
  • Pn Naemah - History, SM Tinggi Setapak
  • Dr Goh - Maths, HELP Institute
  • Ms Taty Wijaja - Statistics, HELP Institute

Not that I did exceptionally well in these subjects. But..I enjoyed your classes nevertheless. Sorry for not doing well though *shame*

Dear Teachers,

Where ever you are now, how have you been? May health & happiness be with you always!

THANKS AGAIN!

PinkMayFlower' Secret

An email from WK prompted me to find out more about May Leong. May Leong, 29 yrs old passed away suddenly while working on her laptop. She left behind her poor mom alone - I presumed still at loss on what else is left in life since her precious daughter is gone forever.

May Leong's blog @ PinkMayFlower' Secret - at first glance, it seems like any of our blogs containing cheerful pictures & colorful graphics. Nobody would have thought that the one entry she wrote in 2007 would be her last - on April 21st she wrote 'Worked up, Stressed Up, Crashed Down" her last entry of her life before she collapsed and passed away on April 23rd.

Believe it or not..this is my second time reading a blog of someone who has passed on. (The first one was Hee Boon's - a cancer patient who passed away end last year.) Reading May Leong's last entry was entirely different..

...Just after getting this recent position, I was thrilled to finally have the chance to "fly high" in a Fortune 500 MNC. It's ok for me to wake at 3.30am to start work @ 4.30am everyday in the morning. But never did I realise what kind of stuff were coming towards me..........

...All for the sake of a salary just enough to keep myself alive for a month. I'm not earning like the other managers are cos I'm only a contract staff.....

...Doc just said I'm really stressed out. sigh..... what should I do? Quit? or continue this ultra-super stressful job? I've got a contract of 6 mths to fulfill... 3 months to commit. If I quit now, I've got to pay back 1 mth's salary. Not worth it. If i quit after May, it won't be so bad. But I don't know if my health can tolerate til then. My mom's really worried & I can't do much to get less worried. Cos my focus was to earn lots of $. I really thought I was able to do everything, that I can be supergirl as well, but my health is worsening at a fast rate. Vitamin M(oney) isn't gonna cure my health. Just yesterday, I received an email from my job agency saying that a contract staff who's working in HP as well, passed away from heart attack, leaving his wife & kids... deja vu? coincidental? a warning sign? I dunno. I don't wanna end up dead for the sake of dough. The moral of the story is don't ever fall in love with your company or your job......

Post Lasik

Been wanting to write about my lasik experience but it happened so fast that I really don't know what is worth sharing. Well, I was there from 1pm to 6pm but the actual procedure was less than 20 mins! Basically, you need to be there early to go a thorough test so that they can decide which procedure suits you eye most. And of course...to decide all the parameters to be set during the procedure.

Firstly, I would like to declare that I am not that SUI after all. I forgot to ask for Dr Stephen Chang (supposedly the best surgeon in SEA) but I got him! He is indeed quite good. He is so experienced that I think he can do and say all he needs to with his eyes closed. In actual fact, he is quite impersonal cos he does the same thing day in day out with hundreds of patients but I must admit his professional behaviour, the way he speaks, the way he carries himself already make you feel very comfortable and secured.

To answer your main question - NO...there wasn't any pain. Your eyes would be numb and whatever they do you won't feel any pain. The only scary part is that you are awake to and you are not suppose to move when all these people do all sort of things to your eyes! Like what? Well...things like putting a ring to hold your eyeball - so that you don't roll your eyes. Or when the doctor use some instrument to 'open' the cornea flap and 'close' it back after the laser :D While I was there on the operating table...I did wonder if I was nuts paying so much money to land myself into such emotional torture.

Anyway, it's over and done with now. I can see. I do not need glassess anymore. I have yet to get myself a stylish sunglass cos I don't want to spend anymore money.

Satisfying? Well, rather dissappointing at times. Firstly, I can see my eye bag very clearly now! Secondly, more than half the people that I meet DID NOT notice any difference!

My father - whom I see everyday - he has yet to ask me anything till today
My relatives - whom I spent the whole of Saturday with - no one mentioned a thing
My hairdresser - who commented before that I will look nicer without glasses - did not say anything
My old school mate - did not notice until I asked her!

Surprisingly, those whom I don't meet often noticed the difference wor. The nurse at the gynae's clinic and a fellow student in the tai ci class whom I haven't met for a few mths.

Here's the conversation with the tai ci mate:

HE: ei..I thought u wear glasses?
ME: heh heh..
HE: u wear contact lense now?
ME: no la..
HE: wa...u did lasik ah? very very brave of u

HE: by the way..how old are you?
ME: wa..why you so direct wan?
HE: ai ya..not that I want to 'kau' you. I have no hidden reason..so I direct lor.

ME: So..how old you think I am?
HE: er...should not be many yrs older than me lor
ME: How old are you?
HE: I am 27. So..you should be may be about 30 or less?

ME: Ai ya...I am 7 years older than you lor
HE: Are you married ler?
ME : No lor. No candidate.

HE: ai ya...you should have done lasik earlier lor!

Kyrie.. a little lesson for us

Let me re-assure you that the world ain't so cruel all the time. While some of our unfortunate fellow earthlings suffer from never ending war, riots, sudden massacre, poverty - there are still happy moments or rather some form of 'victory' over hardship, depression & sorrows. Although the 'victory' may not permanent, as long as there is life and faith, alot of us have strong hopes for a better & better tomorrow.

Little Kyrie was borned pre-matured more than 12 months ago. When her proud parents released her photos to us, tears flowed and hearts crushed when we saw the poor child so little so fragile and yet struggling to hold on to the new world that she had every right to conquer.

Together with her loved one, little Kyrie conquered the world. She fought sickness. She fought those painful pins & needles. She survived!

It's been more than 12 months now..and..Kyrie claims that she CAN READ!

And...of course she can walk too...

So..what's this thing I've been hearing about not having kids. More and more people have decided against having children. Some I heard recently thinks that there are too much suffering in this world..we do not need to contribute more beings to add to the sufferring.

Some thinks that the world itself is too pupulated. There are orphans everywhere...why produce somemore?

Some says that...we have kids before we asking them? Have we ever wondered if the kid wanted to be brought to this world?
So...

  • Do you think if Kyrie ever wanted to come to this world? Doesn't she look happy?
  • Are you thankful to your parents fro bringing you here?
  • Or..do you hate your parents for bringing you here?
  • Have you been enjoying your presence here or do you wish you are never born?

The next time you think about giving up living....think of Kyrie..let Kyrie remind you on how precious LIFE is to her.

Balanced diet. Balanced thoughts. Balanced work. Etc etc..

I've been monitoring my blog entries. Out of the 90 odd entries, I have 20 odd each about ME, Jokes and Health. 12 on Complaints. Another 12 simply 'trash talking'. Others are about Doctor, Life, Friends, Family,,,etc etc. These tells me the state of mind I am in most of the time which is also reflective of my life. So LAME.

It would so nice if I have more thoughts on a variety of topics...e.g. books, politics, travelling, food, etc.

175.98

I went shopping for the orphanage again. Spent a total of RM175.98 (RM50 contributed by JH). Gosh..money really 'very small' nowadays. So much money but not much in variety:
  • huge pack of bihun
  • huge bottle of ribena
  • huge pack of milk powder
  • huge pack of prawn crackers
  • 4 packs of ikan bilis
  • 10kg rice
  • 2 packs instant oats
  • 2 tins of cream crackers
  • 2 packs of milo
  • 6 cans of baked beans
  • 2 tubs of ice cream

Yay! Finally, I've successfully paid back my 'debt' to the society. Back in Dec 2006 I already 'paid' 275.63. If you can't understand what I am talking about - read here.

What's next? Donate more..but must find an organisation that gives tax exemption :p Will also make a point to make some contribution to Yvonne...something that I meant to do..but never got around to do it.

The Pink Letter

Last week I received a call for a legal firm. I am being seeked for failing to paying a RM200 medical bill dated 11 Apr 2003. That's like 4 years ago. How on earth! IO is right..I am very 'sui' indeed. The gal who called me could not even speak properly, she's probably some legal clerk. She struggled so hard trying to explain to a surprise and puzzled me. In the first place, the address that she read to me is wrong. Of course I paid! Why would I not pay??

Yesterday, I received this pink letter from the firm. First of all, note the wrong spelling of MEREKA. Hmm...can a legal firm issue a letter with spelling error?

According to the letter, if I don't clear the payment within 21 days of this notice..I will have to face the law! Fortunately, I still have the receipt with me.

NIAMAH!

Cheeky Fellow

Cheeky or not? He is my lovely nephew. He is 'multi-lingual'. Example:

  • "Bit bit yai yai" (when he saw a whale on national geographic) = fish fish (in english) big big (in thai)
When he is not in a tantrum mood..he is very sweet. He greets someone with a huge big smile (just like the father).
When he sees me...he will repeated call me .."koo koo ah" koo koo ah" until I answer him. (koo koo=auntie in cantonese). But..when he is in one of his moods (especially when he is sleepy)..he will say .."bu yao koo koo" eventhough I was just sitting next to him doing nothing.
  • bu yao = don't want in Mandarin
He will be turning 2 on the 18th this month. How time flies. Since he loves fishes. We have ordered a NEMO cake for him :D My sis and I may buy him a bicycle : ) He is very very rough though...typical BOY. We are a bit worried that the bicycle will add more bruises to his already bruised legs.

More About Child Sponsorship

As at 10 April, 2388 (out of 5000) children are still waiting to be sponsored under the World Vision 10th Anniversary Child Sponsorship Campaign. In conjunction with the 10th anniversary, the organisation's mission for 2007 is to recruit sponsors for 5,000 children (500 for each yr in service). As far as I know, both fafa & IO are sponsors. I've an uncle who sponsors 4 children! My boss has 2. I just found out that my neighbour from my childhood days is also a sponsor. What's holding you back? You only need about minimum RM51 (incl tax) a month! A lot of us spent hundreds on unnecessary meals, fashion apparels, facial, etc....why can't we spare a little for charity?

This is not a scam. Read all about in the website. As a sponsor, I receive regular updates of the development program. The child sends me regular greeting cards and photos.

It's very simple..just click HERE , and state:
  • how many children you wish to sponsor
  • how much you wish to contribute each month & your frequency of payment
  • mode of payment i.e. credit card or others
  • and fill in some key details for correspondence purposes

It's that easy. As for me, the amount is deducted automatically from my credit card every month. No hassle.

So..what are you waiting for? CLICK la..

Transverse Myelitis

For those who knew me long enough will know that I had a mysterious medical background. When I visit a new doctor or if I were to get a new insurance policy, I'd always had to go through the trouble explaining what I had - and I could never explain properly. That's because I was never given a proper explanation by the doctors who treated me! Only recently I saw the word - transverse myelitis in the last medical report (done in 2003) from some fresh tests that I insisted on just to get a clearance & confirmation that I am cleared from any sort of serious sickness.

When I got hold of the medical report, I didn't dwell on it too much cos' I was 'busy with work'. The objective then was to get the clearance so that I qualify for a medical policy. I got it, fortunately, and it has been put to good use recently when I needed treament for endometriosis.

Am now in the process of reviewing my insurance coverage and took a second look at the short conclusion that my neurologist wrote in 2003. His conclusion says..."Previous transverse myelitis fully recovered with no no functional deficit."

I suddenly remember the power of internet and did a search on this subject matter. In short ..it (www.myelitis.org) says that:

"It is a neurologic syndrome caused by inflammation of the spinal cord. Conservative estimates of incidence per year vary from 1 to 5 per million population ."....."Recovery may be absent, partial or complete and generally begins within 1 to 3 months. Significant It is generally a monophasic illness (one-time occurrence); however, a small percentage of patients may suffer a recurrence, especially if there is a predisposing underlying illness."

Very informative indeed. All the symptoms described in all the relevant websites matched exactly what I went through and am still going through. Well, at least now, I get some sense of explanation. But I don't understand why the doctors did not explain properly then. It doesn't seem difficult to articulate since it's not a deadly disease whatsoever. May be it was my luck..that my neurologist (a professor in UMMC) was away when I went to review the test results. I got to see a relatively young doctor instead who gave me a half past six explanation. The report / letter to the insurance company only came later.

Speaking of luck...how in the world did I manage to fall under the "1 to 5 per million" category!

Well..with all said and done. I am fine now supposedly. With some minor 'defects'. Am grateful though that I didn't fall under the unlucky category which had musch serious defects.

errr..I made you all confused again. It's alright..just wanna share some findings.

Joke (Source : WWL)

A boss wondered why one of his most valued employees had not phoned in sickone day.
Having an urgent problem with one of the main computers, he dialled the employees home phone number and was greeted with a Child's'whisper.

"Hello""Is your daddy home ?" he asked
"Yes" whispered the small voice
"May I talk with him?"
"No"

Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked,
"Is your Mummy there?"
"Yes"
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered, "No"

Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked,
"Is anybody else there?"
"Yes, whispered the boy, "a policeman"
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked,

"May I speak with the policeman?"
"No, he's busy", whispered the child
"Busy doing what?"
Talking to daddy and mommy and the fireman", came the answer.

Growing more worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter, throughthe earpiece on the phone, the boss asked ,

"What's that noise?"
"A helicopter" answered the whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.
Again whispering, the child answered,

"The search team just landed the helicopter."
Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated, he boss asked,
"What are they searching for?!!.

"Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle............ "ME".

3rd month doc visit

Was at the doctor to take the 3rd jab. How was it? As I told IO..."like tat lor"...how different can a jab be. A jab is a jab. As usual, heartbeat relatively fast now but am very sleepy -should be able to sleep kua.

Was at the clinic early by 5.15pm cos I went straight after a meeting. My appointment was at 6.40pm. Nurse said that if I go early I may be able to go in by 5.45pm. My turn only came at 6.15pm.

I decided to tell Dr today that I seem to feel occassional 'pain' on my right (still). I had this even before I first consulted him back in Jan, we decided to wait and see if it's still there after the procedure. The problem is that I can't pinpoint exactly where and how the so called 'pain' occurs. And it's not really painful. Just that it's been there for some time it worries me a bit.

He did a scan on my kidney and whatever he should scan around the area...did some pressing here and there...no findings. And my so called 'pains' do not co-relate with any movement or activity. He is puzzled too. Based on my vague descriptions, he thinks it 'may be' related to the ureter. (psst..I didnt know this organ exist until now). He can refer me to a urologist for further investigation (if I want to). Ahh...urologist..heard of that word before. Thought only males get to see urologists :D :D I don't know whether it's necessary since the 'pains' was not really unbearable. Decided to wait another month. I promised to pay more attention and write notes if necessary..so that I can provide more clues. Must carry a notebook with me huh!

Sigh..Mag's comment over MSN awhile ago..prompted me to add this...I've been having 'pain here pain there' for the last 10+ yrs of my life. At times, I'd just ignore them. At times, I will get my butt to the docs. Most of the time there weren't any significant findings which can be good and bad. Good cos it means there's nthg to worry about. Bad cos it means I have to continue wondering why why why.

..

2 months ago today my life was at a 'pause' for a moment. Nothing really matters then while I was anxious to find out if I had the 'disease'. I am thankful that things turn out just fine. Last night, I read an article from a cancer patient struggling for survival.

...Her mother passed away in the 80's due to cancer. In the 90's both herself and sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and had mastectomy. Years later, she had to go for 38 sessions of radiotherapy to treat a cancerous lump in her neck. In addition to all the side effects, she also lost all her teeth as her gums became too weak to hold her teeth. She went on to fight the disease by taking more healthy food and supplements. The disease striked for the 3rd time......

I can't remember the rest of the story but the essence of her article says that we should not give up on hope. Despite the multiple attacks, she refused to give up but insisted on staying alive.

Tests has confirmed that I don't have the 'disease' but I do have have some other complications which requires rather long term follow up attention. Tomorrow I am due for my 3rd (out of 6) jab. How fast time flies...and how much has this small episode changed my life?

Well, physically I am slightly slimmer :) Psychologically, I have not recovered fully from the scare...to some extent I still think something is wrong somewhere. Medically, I am suppose to be having some minor irritability, hot flushes, etc side effects from the jabs.

I've learnt to be a 'duck' though. Managed to ignore whatever side effects that came about. Secretly, I am enjoying the 'freedom' from those monthly discomfort that every woman has to go through. I am still actively going to the gym (even paid for a personal trainer) so that I can get myself back fit and 'shapy' (hopefully). I am still in taici - which helps me 'heal' internally. And..I shall try to eat as healthily as possible lor.

P/S: I also hold dear to an advise that FY shared with me in one of my entries.."....there is nothing more important than life - as long as there is life, we can conquer anything, with prayers..."

Little Blog Community

I bumped in Suzette someone I got to know briefly quite a few years ago. We never really kept in touch but I do read her blog ocassionally (without her knowledge). I confessed to her on Saturday that I am aware of her blog *grin*. And she also found out that I have a blog too *double grin*.

The funny part is that I was introduced to her blog by Cowie who doesn't even know her in person. Immediately, I took a liking to Suzette's blog (without knowing that it belongs to someone I know), and I forwarded it to Buzymum who found out later that who suzette is!

And...busymum has not met suzette (but know who she is) but they have been comunicating on the net. Are you totally confused now??

Anyway, we were all attending the same wedding dinner that evening. So they met in person - Suzette & Busymum.

By now, you should be able to conclude that suzette has a nice blog and is a 'popular' person. Something like tat la.

Net net..be responsible of what you put in your blog. You will never know who's reading it :D

Credit card ready after 4 mths!

I can't even remember when I applied for the card with this M Bank. It has to be end of last year when I refinanced the home loan with the bank. Ever since then there wasn't any updates from them. I made several calls to the sales rep. who handled my loan - she kept saying they have 'sent' my application and will 'find out' about the status for me. Of course..she never call back la.

I have almost given up hope la. It's not that I am so hard up for the card...it's just that I need the card if I decide to go for the lasik treatment..it gives 24 mths instalment.

On Friday, the letters dated 6th March arrived!!! Wa..it takes almost month for the letters to arrive to my home - the address on the letter head says the card centre is at Jalan Tun Perak, KL - my house is in Segambut KL. Wonder if the letters came via a snail?

In total there are 3 letters. Essentially, all 3 says the same thing - I have to go collect the card at the branch MYSELF. What donkey requirement is that? These people must be living in the cave all these while! Aren't they suppose to send to us? One of the letter says:

We are pleased to inform you that your new card(s) are ready for collection.

Kindly call personally at the branch mentioned below during normal banking hours & bring along your identity card/ driving licence/ passport when collecting the card(s).......bla bla bla.

What nonsense...

Blink Blink

I've been talking about this for years..I guess you guys are probably bored with this topic. I can't help it wor...I am still wearing spectacles. My spectacles broke yesterday and it's now in the optical shop - they will send it back to the manufacturer to see if they can repair it. Meantime, I am very tempted to get a new one. If I don't get a branded frame it will cost me about $200 to RM300 only. Compared to Lasik..it will cost me $5k++!!! In addition, for some reasons I just can't seem to get any of the specified credit card that allows 24mths / 36 mths instalments.

Dilemma...

Super Glue Fingers

Is super glue poisonous? I accidentally kena super glue on my fingers. I took for granted by assuming that it will be like normal shoe glue where I can jus rub them off easily. I panicked when I realised that it had formed a rough layer on my fingers. I cuoldn't even feel my fingers! There was a 'warning' on the packaging that says 'to avoid contact with skin and eyes'. Too late...after I had my shower - I put lot's of lotion on my finger. I can feel them now :D Only worry now is that...the chemical may have been absorbed into my skin...or the chemical reaction has changed my finger prints permanently!

And..are they poisonous?

Mysterious email

I received a mysterious mail today. A t1st I thought it was a spam..but noticed that the contents were somewhat different..so I read on:

How are you? My name is xxx. I from Russia, city Cheboksary. To me 28 years. I shall tell to you about myself a little.
I corresponded with the man from the your country before. His name xx. He is from your country. We had a long correspondence and xx wanted, that I have arrived to him in the your country that I have seen what life there. We have together submitted the statement on reception of the visa in your country! xx spoke, that will help my in our meeting. I thought, that have met on the Internet the love. I and xx made the big plans for the future, but in a flash all has changed. From the moment of submission of the statement for the application of the visa has passed 5 months.

For these five months there was for what I least waited. xx informed, that his former wife has returned to him and lives together with him. Soon they should get married. And now in xx plans there is no me. I wrote to him some times after that, but xx have wished me only good luck in the further searches worthy men and have told, that our ways miss.

And in October to me there has come the invitation in embassy behind reception of the visa. In the beginning I wanted to throw out the invitation in embassy. To me it was sad, because my dreams were failed, I have nobody to fly in the your country. But my uncle have dissuaded me from resolute actions and have told, that else there is a chance to find worthy the man and to use the visa to a meeting with him. I well know English and practically I have visa your country. My uncle speaks, that it really solves many problems.

Approximately in 7 days the visa will be ready, and I should go to Moscow behind reception of the visa. I write to you because in my heart there is an empty seat. I do not search rich or poor. I search careful and responsible man which wants to enjoy a life together. Is this person you? I think, that I ask not much. I have told to you a little about my life. I have told not all about myself, but it will be easier to me to write about myself if you will ask questions which interest you. I have told to you my history, and now I shall look forward to hearing from you with impatience.

Write to me! I shall send you more photo in the following letter. I wait you answer.

xxx
P.S. I shall answer with pleasure if you write to me on: xxx@xxxx.ru

What do you think? Strange hor...some kind of scam? I can't figure out what's behind it though? I am no man wor :DDD

..

Good Morning. I had a pretty ok weekend.

As usual, it's Monday...was going to create some hype by sharing with you some ridiculous spam mails that I get very often - particularly those about 'viagra' and 'erection'.

Unfortunately, before I could do it, Cowie told me about a very unfortunate incident - her colleague just lost his wife and new born baby. Yea - just like tat. This is the second case I heard recently - not too long ago, Warrior was telling me abt a similar case.

This is life I guess.

This morning's disccusion over 98.8 radio station was about food wasting. You know..it's so normal for us ladies to only eat a portion of our rice/ noodles. Or..it's so normal for use to order more that we could eat and end up couldn't finish. I know..I am guilty too. I am trying hard to change ok...no more "ngan foot tou chak".

Life can be beautiful and cruel..,,treasure and enjoy what we see and have today. Do not forget that in this same moment, someone is moarning, suffering, starving, in pain..wishing that they have what we have today.

We should also be responsible to take care of what we have. What do you have today?? Your wealth, health, family, work, car...do not take these things for granted ya. It is your own responsibility to protect them since you are so lucky to have them.

Privatising

Heard over the radio this morning about the government's plan to privatised ambulance services. Apparently, we have never had professionally qualified paramedics for the last 50 years - this is what I heard on the radio very clearly. The governement sees the need to improve services and is thinking about privatising. What say you? On my journey to work..I heard feedback from a few callers. A few common issues to consider..which is (well..) common sense:

  • All agreed that it's TIME to improve the services
  • Privatising will definitely improve services BUT the consumers will end up bearing the incremented cost. Can all of us afford expensive private fees?
  • Based on current / previous privatising projects i.e. LRT, Public buses....none of them are really successful. In most cases, the goverment ended up picking up bits and pieces eventually. Will the same happen again?
  • Privatising is a good idea BUT who/ which / what organisation gets the tender is another very critical issue (???) In other words, the process of the tender HAS to be done fairly and correctly.

Meanwhile, make sure you don't get yourself into an emergency (?)

Duck

On Friday nite, SOMEONE told me that she is like a duck. Do you know what that means? It's a totally new term to me.

As explained - DUCKS are very good...as they swim in the water...they will never get wet even if it rains heavily or when they go underneath the water because the water will just slide off their feather.

So..if you behave like a duck...no matter what obstacle, pain, frustration falls upon you..jus let them brush through and never let it absorb into you!

I shall not be frustrated...it's end day now..there's absolutely NOTHING I can do now. I shall leave, go get my car washed, and tai ci class at night.

Have a good evening everyone!

Sponsor A Child?

Do you see that sweet child on the left of this column? Have you ever thought of sponsoring a child? This year is the 10th anniversay of World Vision in Malaysia Their mission this year is to find 5,000 - 500 for each year they have been in service, 15 chidren sponsored each day.

I've been sponsoring a 14 yr old girl in Mongolia for almost 3 years. I pay RM51++ (with tax) via credit card each month. The money will not go direct to the girl. All funds will go towards development work for the community that the child stays in. It may be school programs, farms, etc. I recieve program updates very often. I also receive pictures of the child. We are not encourage to contact the child and family directly but we can keep in touch via the World Vision office in the respective countries. I have written to her twice. Once I used a world map to explain to her where I am vs. where she is. She loved it.

With their monthly contributions of RM50.00, we are helping more than 14,000 children in China, Mongolia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Lebanon, Myanmar, South Africa and Cambodia.

Sponsor a child today ...go to the website to find out more and act today!

Badminton

I went to play badminton just now after more than a yr not playing. Can't remember the last time I played...may be with Alex...the guy that CLK wanted to introduce me (who happened to be married!) or may be with CK (an old friend who passed away suddenly some time last year).

This time I played with my cousin and her father and my sis. Cousin has invited me a few times..once a year every time we meet during CNY. I always said that I will try to go...she palys with her colleagues n BF (now hubby) every Friday from 7-9pm. This time I finally went...she decided to bring her father as well, since he was a badminton freak during his younger days. He retired from work 6 mths ago and has been very inactive since..so she thought of getting him back into the game. Plus...her hubby's not around tonite..so ..she is free to do her own thing.

My game's a bit rusty - thought I'd be fit and strong since I've been working out, but I am not. Again, it's probably a different ball game..different muscle group, different mechanics, etc. Sis says...may be body still recovering from surgey kua. Well, doc did say that the inside will take about 2 months to heal.

My uncle is 65 yrs old. 10 years ago when I played with him, he was very good and strong. He hit the shuttlecock right to the back of the court and I always had difficulty hitting back strongly. Tonight, he is totally diferent. His strokes were weak, he missed a lot of shots and was tired after a while. He seems dissappointed and defeated. He said that he has never palyed so badly...said he couldn't see clearly and had difficulty hitting the shuttle accurately.

To us,...he still has the skills..just need to regain his strength and accuracy. So..we keep encouraging him to stay active..don't just stay at home in front of TV.

At least he is 65 yrs old lo...me not even 35 also rusty liao. Think the game is too impactful for my rusty bones too :(

A little update about my PT experience @ the gym

I know la..alot of you would think I am wasting money on this Personal Trainer thingy. I just wanna give it a try and see if I feel any fitter after the guidance. By right, if the trainer is good I will be independent after all the sessions (provided I have motivation to continue la).

How is it going so far? Well, I've been to 2 sessions so far. After each session different part of my body aches. That's because he made me work almost thrice as hard as I'd normally do. After the first session, my triceps ached like nobody's business, it's still aching right now after 5 days! I discovered something strange though - my left limbs are supposedly weaker due to a previuos medical condition, hence, my left arm was made to lift 10 times more on the the first 3 exercises. Strangely, my right arm became very obviously weaker from the 4th exercise onwards! Even right now, my right tricep hurt more then the left. How to explain this?

The trainer said it's all in the brain...it's because I've been subconciously using my right more hence, most energy is on the right. When we force the left to work harder, the brain quickly re-directed to the left, hecne, the right became 'helpless'. Make sense or not?

Yesterday, was my second session. I complain that my arms still hurt, so we worked on legs and abs pulak. Nothing scientific happened this time, jus that my abs and legs hurt now lo. And he gave me a massage at the end..in the open!

Was thinking if all this can save all my other cost e.g accupressure, tai ci. BUt hor...although I felt physically worked out...I don;t get the sense of 'lightness' that I get after the accupressure or tai ci sessions lo.

..

If u read my blog often enough u should notice my 'sometimes up sometimes down' mood changes. Today I am rather down/ tired. It's probably hormone related (again) or as usual I'd always blame it on Wednesday - for some reasons I always feel lethargic on Wednesdays. If possible I'd request for Wednesday off days :D

Was looking at the UT prices today..all went down dramatically, so pathetic..aiiii...life is full of ups and downs. Was told the market went up a bit today - hope the days will be brighter soon.

I spent my day yesterday doing a couple of personal stuff. First, I met up with an insurance agent who happened to be my cousin. I wanted to her to help me review my current policies and help me work out whay I am missing on and where are the areas I need to upgrade. She ended up telling me that I need to increase my protection on critical illness bla bla bla. Well, I checked with a few persons..ok..point taken..I only insure myself for $50k..whereas everyone else that I spoke to had about 200 to 300k :p

I'm getting more opinions from a few more persons before deciding how much more I need to top up. *SIGH*

Secondly, I went to the temple. Yesterday was the day we were suppose to pray to the White Tiger God :p. I know I know..I am behaving like an ah sor :DD Anyway, I went with another friend who is as clueless as me. We were just being kiasu. We ended up doing it wrong!

You see, praying to the White Tiger God also means asking for the noble persons to help you. There is also a ritual where we are suppose to get rid of little people (ta siu yan). We didnt want to to that ritual becos some ppl told me that it's not good. So...we told the man that we only want to pray but not 'ta siu yan'. So...we were just given the stuff (candle, joss sticks, incense papaers)..and told to pray on our own.

I asked the lady..if the incense paper are to be burnt as offerings? She said yes. While I was burning..I saw a little red piece in there shaped like a ginger bread man. I assumed it's the little person ...part of the set ....so I burnt everythg lor.

Later on..my friend's aunt said that..the little red man..is the noble person la. LOL!!! Die lo like tat...accidentally burnt the noble person. I did see people pasting the piece on the walls and pillars....as I said..I thought that's the little person wor.

SIGH SIGH...

Anyways..it's the end day now. Am going off to the gym.

2nd Month Doc Visit

Was at the Doc's yesterday evening to take my second jab - ya my Idol Doc..as Cowie would say. Was also sharing with Cowie a while ago that I didn't manage to sleep well last night - felt very hot, sweat alot and heartbeat was kind of fast (like restless). Was wondering if I was over-reacting but Cowie assured me that's these are normal symptoms of hormone treatment. Well, the doc did ask me if I had any major discomfort...I forgot to tell him that about the sleepless nights *duh* - after all it was for two nights only, forgot lor. Will see how it's like tonight (hope it rains). If not, I have a gym session on Wednesday and tai ci on Thursday - all should be fine after all the work outs kua.

Oh yea...everyone's asking me about the final lab test results i.e. the 1% chance of the cyts being cancerous. Since the chances are so low..I'd assumed that if the Doc doesn't call - should be no bad news lo. Anyway, I asked for the results yesterday. It says the following:

A: Right Ovarian Endometric Cyst
Sections show an endometriotic cyst with cyst wall of ovarian stroma lined by endometrial type epithelium and attendant endometrial type stroma in areas. Areas of histiocytic lining also present. No malignant change.

B: Left Ovary with an endometriotic cyst, and a corpus luteum
Also an endometriotic cyst. The wall is lined by endometrial type epithelium, and in areas by thick layers of foamy and pigment laden histiocytes. In the cyst wall is a corpus luteum. There is no malignant change.

Phew...took me so long to type those out correctly. Cannot copy n paste la..as I am referring to a hard copy. Like typing French only. Anyway...don't bother finding out what those terms mean - net net no signs of cancer cells.

Another Good One (Source : WK)

Words Women Use:

1) FINE: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if
you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes.
Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7) Thanks:A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome.

8 ) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying FUCK YOU!

9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's
wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

Sewing

My grandfather was a professional tailor and my mom inherited his skills. She used to make alot of our clothes e.g. school uniforms, shorts, etc. She also used her skills to earn extra income sewing door mats, caps, sports shorts etc etc. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit any of her skills. I never liked sewing. I knew that as early as 9 yrs old..when I had JAHITAN class in school.

I just confirmed that I should not even attempt to be a tailor. A few days ago I decided to re-attached a button on one of my pants. Have not been using that pant for a few months liao..and I really need it back now since I have lost some weight, thus, a few of my newer pants looks like "lai si foo" on me. So..I took opportunity of the CNY break to re-attached that button. It is suppose to be a fairly simple task..I've done that many times previously.

On one of the mornings last week, I happily took out the pant to wear. Guess what? I attached the wrong button!..The button I used was way too large for the original hole - DARN! That's failure no. 1

Just a while ago, I attempted to replace the button with the correct one. As I was skillfully sewing the button on - Guess what?? The needle snapped and broke! Have you ever heard of that happening??

Sigh...my mom will be either shaking her head in dissappointment or laughing at this silly daughter of hers.

Farmland Steamboat & Seafood Restaurant

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times. Most of the time we go there in a huge group for an enjoyable fun meal. Their specialty is steamboat using porridge instead of soup. I personally like it becos I find it relatively healthier and light. Not as heaty, meaty and oily compared to other chinese meals. It's not everyone's favourite though..mainly because it can be quite pricey and some thinks the food has too much MSG - thirsty after eating wor.

The last time we went to this restaurant was back in Novemebr 06 (I think..). It was raining heavily so we had to use an umbrella. Since we travelled in my car..my umbrella duly served it's duty. It's a very special umbrella (no..it is not a special gift from someone), it is a gift from Shell Helix upon purchase. It's huge and specially designed, I would say first time an umbrealla designed with double layer e.g. a little break to allow wind to travel through so that the user doesn't lose balance during strong winds.

Upon entering the restaurant, we left the umnbrella at the umbrella stand at the entrance. After more than 2 hours chit chatting and stuffing ourselves..we happily left without the umbrella. It was already the next day when I remembered it. The restaurant is all the way down town in Pudu, it's too troublesome to go back down to look for it. That doesn't mean I don't regret leaving it behind.

Last month, I was in Pudu again for dinner with PPL and LCN. I decided to try my luck. PPL guided me to the restaurant and she went inside to check for me (I was driving). To our surprise, the umbrella is still there. The owner explained that they will normally keep nice umbrellas in case customers come back for them. But it's been 2 months!

I am so impressed. Although pricey, I don't mind going back there more times. I respect them for their sensitivity to their customers. Business is already good but they still take the extra steps to take care of their customers...way beyond their core business deivery.

Way to go...

I faxed the following letter to my credit card centre on the 27th February. As mentioned in the letter, I had to do this every damn year. The 1st time I did it, I wrote long paragraphs explaining why I deserved a fee waiver..that I've been very loyal..that I only had one card bla bla. Last year..I just cut it short by saying something like ..."what is this..I have to request again..don't you guys have customer retention programs.."

This year..I didnt bother to write any story...just straight to the point....

RE: REQUEST FOR ANNUAL CREDIT CARD FEE WAIVER

This is my third request. I am not happy that I have to do this every single year despite the fact that I have been a loyal to (BANK NAME) for quite a number of years.
My credit card (No. xxxx xxxx xxxx xxx).

Looking forward to some prompt and positive initiative.

The fee was reversed on the 28th Feb. Not being stingy here...the fee charged was RM160 ler...I spent thousands and thousands on this card every year ler.

Don't be greedy

Luckily I sold off most of my UT before CNY. When I came back from CNY I was a bit sore when I see the market going up to 1200++ points. Considered realising a few newer and smaller UT ..but decided to wait since market really booming.

Apparently, a comment by the PM during CNY stating that the market will ht 1300 points triggered some small investors to invest even more. Luckily I didnt catch the statement.

The market plummered steeply yesterday and continued to plummer today. My tai ci instructor is a remisier...he not happy today. In fact worried. He said..lotsa of losses ..lots lots...

Sigh....pity. It's a risky game...u take risk...u pay lo..if u r greedy.

Ducks & Prawns

Everyone told me to stay away from seafood especially prawns after a surgery for about 100 days. Some also said that ducks are also 'tuk'. I did try hard to stay away lo. On the 2nd week I accidentally included dried prawns in a dish, tried to avoid taking the prawns, just took the vege. On the 5th day of CNY old man brought back roast duck...darn! No other food to eat..just duck..i oso didnt want to make a fuss..old man wont entertain anyway.

Today..a supplier bought us dim sum lunch at ah yat abalone restaurant. Majority of their selection are with prawns...all are very very nice. The moment I saw the menu I decided that I cannot control today liao...must eat everythg!

That's not all...when i came home...ta daaa...roast duck again! Sei lo..double 'tuk' for today. *SHAKE HEAD* What to do...have to eat lor.

Just noticed..one of my wound is pinkish today and a little bit sore :p. Sei lo....appointment with Dr A on Monday. If it doesnt look good...Dr will know.

Only consolation is I went for tai ci just now. Hopefully can tai ci away all the 'tuk'.
